Question about if I want to change a reservation

I booked AKV for 8 nights, a 2 BR standard view because we are traveling with DSIL and her boyfriend. They will be with us only 6 of the nights, but we aren't leaving when they do.

Question: If I wanted to reschedule the reservation for 6 nights at a 2 BR, then the rest at a 1 BR,( we don't mind moving), will Member Services cancel the first reservation before they make the second, or can they just shorten my current reservation?

I would hate to lose the nights I have at AKV, but would like the points back for the 2 nights I don't need the second bedroom.

Yes, you can shorten the original vacation from 8 to 6. Then, you can book those last 2 nights in the 1 bedroom.

Just make sure you have MS check for the 1 bedroom availability before you cancel!!

FYI - you will always run a slight risk when booking. Just because MS checks availability doesn't mean that it will still be there a couple of minutes later when they actually save the reservation.

Usually availability is sufficient so it doesn't matter, but if it's the last AKV 1 bedroom, someone could swoop in and take it before you do.
