Question about hotel late arrivals. Advice..help

after having a reservation at another offsite hotel for a few months i just now called (twice) to let them know our plane lands at 11:30pm and by time i get our rental car and arrive at hotel it would have been after nidnight. they said my room wasnt guaranteed after midnight.
anyhow i just found a travelzoo deal for staybridge suites lake buena vista that will accommodate 2 adults and 4 children. they said if i put in my reservation comments i will arrive late they will still have my room.

has anyone ever had this issue? was your room available? i am just worried because i will have 4 children who will be sleepy and traveling in their pj's.
am i worried for nothing?

I very rarely stay off site and I've never stayed at Staybridge Suites Lake Buena Vista, but if I was you, I'd ask for some kind of email or something from them in which they state that by commenting in your reservation about your late arrival, they will have your room. Maybe make the reservations by phone, if possible, so that you can ask (several times) if they understand that you will arrive late and make sure they enter the comment for you.

Hopefully someone who has had experience with this will offer some insight, but I personally would be worried about it. It would be just my luck that somehow my comment was magically deleted or not saved! I hope you find out about this soon!

I've stayed onsite and offsite and been to Diz
About twice a year but taking 2 extra kids it's cheaper to stay offsite than Diz property.
I am mainly concerned about late arrival. I know I cannot be the 1st nor last to do so.

I would look up the hotel policy. Generally when you make a reservation they take a deposit on your card and if you dont cancel by a certain time the card is charged. So on that theory a late check in shouldnt be an issue. However, if it were me, and the Hotel I had reservations at said that they would not assure me a room, with ALL the hotels available in the Orlando area, I would either ask to speak to a manager, pointing the fact out that there is a lot of competition and are they really not interestred in your buisness? May get a comp or two. Otherwise I would look elsewhere for a place to stay. Good Luck!

I've never heard of a hotel refusing to guarantee your room past midnight. Sounds like customer service is not their strong point, so I'd probably avoid staying there just based on that.

I have arrived in the wee hours many times with no problem, but I've been aware of people being "walked" to another hotel when all the rooms were taken before they got there. You get a free night, but that would be a small consolation if you had sleepy kids to deal with.
