My husband and brother want to do some golfing on our next trip, my question to you is how early can you set up tee times and what benefits to DVC owners get?

Thanks

Regular resort guests and DVC members using DVC discount can reserve tee times up to 90 days in advance. Based on experience, you can usually get what you want calling 30 days in advance if trying to get a weekend or holiday and 14 days in advance for other days of the week. You can make tee times via phone or on-line.

For DVC, You can purchase an annual DVC golf card for $50 plus tax and then use it to get a discount per round for member and up to 3 persons playing with the member. You buy card at pro shop and don't need it to make tee times; you just purchase when you go to first tee time.

Whether you should buy the card is a different question. It gives you 25% off the resort guest price for before 10 am times and 40% for after ten times. Since the card costs $50, you need to accumulate enough discounts to justify buying the card and thus if you are only going to play once or twice during a year, you likely should not do so.

Also, though the 40% discount for after 10 times is one of the best discounts, that 25% pre-10 discount is not, particularly if you will play an even number of rounds. Disney offers a 2-round pass to any resort guests that gives you two rounds at a discounted price and that price per round is often less than or very close to the DVC discount per round for pre-ten, making the 2-day pass the better deal for pre-ten times if you play an even nnumber of rounds because you don't have to pay $50 for the annual golf card.

I believe you can do it the same as booking dining and show reservations. 180 days. There is also a pass you can purchase that will discount their golf.

With the new company taking over management of the golf courses, any word on how that will impact DVC members?

Golf reservations can be made 90 days out not 180; it does not follow the restaurant times. There is no word yet on any changes to the DVC discount due to turning over management of the courses to Arnold Palmer Golf Management but that change is supposed to occur Sep 25 and they are currently accepting tee time reservations into December that maintain the current DVC discounts, and other discounts such as AP (two week reservation window) for after September 25.

I believe the AP discount is 30%. Better than the before 10am DVC...you can also play the back 9 at LBV in early am for a good price also.

The AP discount is worse than the pre-ten am DVC discount. The AP 30% discount is off the regular price charged to persons who are not stayng on site. That price is always more than the resort guest price. The DVC discount is 25% off the resort guest price and gives you an actual discounted price that is lower than the AP discounted price.

We"'ve always got the 30% discount off the resort fee..so better deal...

The AP discount is off the "Day" rate charged to persons staying off site. If you actually got it off resort rate then just consider yourself lucky because we have never had the pro shops get that one wrong..

Thanks for all the info. My husband and brother are really looking forward to getting a round in this trip!
