Question about french press coffee

I would like to bring my french press coffee maker on board the Dream. Does anyone have experience with how to bring an open bag of coffee grounds onboard? I read that all food brought onboard needs to be in factory sealed packages but I did not know if this pertained to coffee grounds as well. Thanks !

I brought small sample bags ($1.25 at my local grocer). These make about 3-4 pots. Also, Security went through my bag w/ the coffee.

It would most definitely pertain to coffee grounds.

You would also not be able to take any unused grounds in an opened bag off the ship at the end of the cruise.

While you probably can't bring open coffee grounds onboard, you can bring a pre-ground sealed bag. I know getting to ground just right for the French Press will be difficult in a pre-ground back.

We've purchased whole bean coffee on our cruises and brought it back onto the ship to take home. But normally open items won't be let on the ship, or through customs once you return home.

We have a French Press and just place the bag of grounds in our checked luggage. Never had a problem. I use Starbucks, so after I have it ground, I just reseal the bag.
