Just DH and I going to DW this September, looking at Sept 23-Oct 1.

We haven't flown out of Ottawa (our closest airport, 45 minute drive) since we took our two kids in September 2010 (we flew with WestJet, 1 layover in YYZ at approx. $350/person). The last two trips we've flown out of Syracuse and Rochester as there were 8 of us and the savings were significant, making the 4-5 hour drive worth it.

Flights out of Ottawa right now are at the cheapest around $365pp for Delta (not including checked baggage fees). However, I prefer the flight times for Air Canada (approx. $417pp, not including checked baggage fees) and West Jet (approx. $440pp, includes one checked bag per person). All flights have a layover, none are non-stop.

I know in general, airfare seems to be up this year so for those who have flown out of YOW recently, is this about the best it's going to get for September do you think? DH thinks it will come down yet but I'm not convinced...

I always fly out of ottawa when going to Orlando. In my experiences the best prices are about 3-4 months ,paying about 350 or less, return ,from your departing date.I usually fly United, leaving at 6am and arriving there by 11, but have used delta{never again If I can help it} and u.s airways as well.I prefer doing customs in Ottawa as it's a lot less hectic than Toronto or Montreal and we get it out of the way.Check expedia.ca for times snd prices to compare.
