Question about Fantasmic

Can you eat at the participating restaurants anytime during the day and get the voucher? We're going over President's day weekend. We have reservations at the Brown Derby for 1:40. Is the Fantasmic package extra? I'm hard pressed to find details.

I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong but

I believe you have to book it as a "Fantasmic Package" and it is available on a first come first served basis for the participating restaurants for dinner only. It does cost more - the full menu is not available - and I think you have to pre-pay

Like I said - someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup, you have to make a reservation for the Fantasmic package and it's for dinner only. And it's only certain restaurants...Hollywood Brown Derby, Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine. We've done it before and my only complaint was that 4:20pm was the latest dinner we could get because of the package. The lady told me that they purposely make you eat earlier so it won't interfere with the regular dinner hours. I thought that was lame but oh well. Anyhow, we didn't have to prepay but we did have to give a credit card to hold. Here's the link:

I dont' know about interfering with regular dinner hours - but from what I understand the early reservation times are so it's more likely to be no problem with your party being able to eat and leave the restaurant in time for the show. If your party is still in the restaurant close to showtime, you're not going to be happy.

You don't have to prepay for the package, but you do have to give a credit card number to hold the reservation. If you don't cancel and don't show up, there's a no-show fee per person.

Fantasmic dining packages are limited availabilty and in very high demand. There isn't a good likelihood of the OP's being able to get one for President's Day weekend at this point. You'd have to call WDW-DINE, say you want the Fantasmic package and accept a reservation for sometime between 3 and 5 pm if they're able to find one for you.

We actually have a Fantasmic! lunch package next week, but it is the same price as the dinner package and is at 3:00. There were no dinner packages available. I don't know what times the lunch package is available. But you definitely do have to book it as a package, not just a reservation.

According to TDC Nala's post above, it's still considered a dinner then...3-5pm. I can't imagine eating dinner that early though!:lmao: I suppose it could be considered lunch then.:confused3 I was just going by what the dining reservation lady told me.

WDW-DINE have been referring to the earlier reservations as "lunch" - I guess because they're getting a lot of flack about dinner at 3 PM - but as far as I know there is no price or menu difference between the Fantasmic "lunch" and "dinner."

This is copied from my e-mail from the AKL IPO office:

The Hollywood Studios just opened up Fantasmic Seating for lunch at MamaMelrose's.

My point was that the dinner package was completely booked and we were unable to reserve it. IPO was able to book a "lunch" for us at a later date because Disney added that as an option. The lunch doesn't replace the dinner package - the dinner packages were still unavailable. Additional spots were opened up as a lunch package (at earlier times than the already booked dinner package), although the cost is still the same. I don't know whether the lunch package is available at typical lunch times like the OP's 1:40 reservation, but according to the AKL IPO office, this is considered a lunch package. We do still receive the F! vouchers and order off the menu as with the dinner package, but there are also people who have the dinner package booked on the same date at slightly later times.

Wow, I had no idea that they considered that 'lunch'. I wonder if they'll open it up then to other lunch times? That would be great, wouldn't it?:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 It would be great if you could eat lunch at a traditional lunch time and still get F! vouchers, since the dinner times are too late for lunch and too early for dinner. I guess they are limited by the capacity of the seating area. I have a feeling we will have a small "lunch" around 11:00, the F! "lunch" at 3:00 (which might be closer to four by the time we get seated and get our food), and a snack after Fantasmic! if anyone wants to eat.

It's probably not a problem when Fantasmic! is at 8:00, but when it is at 6:30, it is hard to figure out what to eat when!
