Question about early check-in and cancellations

I have a trip coming up in 3 weeks. I'd like to do early check in and request my room preference. My room is cancellable up until 5 days to arrival right now. If I do early check in, will it mean I cannot cancel without penalty? Just being paranoid. Thanks.
 
As long as you cancel 5 or more days prior to arrival, there is no penalty and you will receive a full refund regardless if you did your online check in. The room assigners do not assign your room until about 24 hours prior to arrival! :)
 

It's really misnamed. You don't really "check-in". It's more like pre-registering your information. No room is assigned when you do the online check-in, it's assigned at the same time as if you didn't do it. One advantage is you get a text when your room is ready and you don't have to visit the front desk.
 
If you cancel you will be sad...trust me here.
LOL! I know, but I had to once and it scarred me for life so i always worry about it now. Cancelling Disney is the WORST. Fingers crossed for no shenanigans.
