My DD and I are planning on this excursion while my DH scubas. Given that I am practically a redhead, and my DD an even fairer blonde, is there any shade to be had on the catamaran? Of course we will slather on sunscreen, but getting out of the sun during the four hours would be nice too. Diana

hi, we did the golden eagle on our last eastern cruise with DCL and we learned from earlier trips to castaway cay, cover yourself with sunscreen in a high number! also, we all bring extra t-shirts to snorkel in. on the golden eagle, many sit up front on the springy deck on the front, others like my DH sat in the back; in the back there is a table and booth where they set out drinks and prepare stuff and it is under an awning where it is shaded. you can stay under there if you like. when the boat anchors, the stairway is under the boat into the water and it is somewhat shady there. depending on the weather, they go to various locations to snorkel. it was rough our day out, so they went to a beach near the airport and there were some umbrellas on the beach, but we we never really went to the beach, we stayed out by the boat and snorkeled in that area. We weren't really there that long because it was a lengthy ride there and back. we could have stayed for hours longer. part of the time was eating snacks and then lunch. we are going again in december.

thanks for the great question and reply. my DH and I are planning on doing this excursion and are really excited about it. so far, we have heard good reviews. the only problem that i heard about was the lengthy ride out and back.
