Question about DTW Westin

I was wondering if it is worth the extra money to just stay at the Westin at Detroit Airport (DTW)? Has anyone out there done this? We live about 2.5 hours away and everyone says you should be there about 2 hours early. That means we will be leaving our house about 3 am! I would rather just stay close to the airport. Has anyone ever stayed at another park sleep fly hotel? What ones should I avoid? How does it work?
