Question about Disney rooms on Orbitz and places like that

I have never booked a Disney room on Orbitz or any of the other sites like that. When the fall/winter RO discount comes out, will those sites list the prices of those rooms at those discounts and then we can use a promo code on top of that as well? Our vacation starts on December 15th and we had thought about getting a room at Disney a day or two early. Instead, we may just stay offsite for that day or two, but if we could get a fairly good deal on a nightly rate at Disney through Orbitz or one of those sites, that would be great!
Thanks!

OK, this is what goes down, pretty much. Disney will release their discounts, and then generally Orbitz will pick them up about a week later, perhaps? I may be off on that number, but close. You can get a great deal through Orbitz and/or Travelocity. You can generally stack them, for the most part. Here lately though, the biggest one you can stack is 15%.

Also, here lately, most of the promo codes will only knock off $150. Which is ok, if you do not have a subtotal that would be eligible for more than a $150 off. I booked this past February with Orbitz and saved a good bit. Also, if you have kids, do not list them on the reservation. Just put the adults, 2 I'm thinking and then call and add the kids the next day or so. Very, very, very important you do it that way. If you have any more questions, you can PM anytime. I think I may be going to try to go through a very special travel agency that I have used before that has greats rates with Disney for our next trip, but you never really know. I might go through Orbitz or Travelocity. I just don't know at this moment.

If you put the promo code in when you input the trip details, it will show the discount that Disney is offering, as well as the Orbitz discount (if eligible). As with Disney, not every resort/room type is offered with the additional discount, so while it might bring up several room types, you will need to look at each one to see what discount is included. Also, when booking through Orbitz, payment in full is due at time of booking, but you can cancel within so much time of arrival for a full refund. Keep in mind that if your dates change, you will not be able to modify your existing reservation, you will have to cancel and rebook.

I was curious about leaving the children off the reservation. Do you call Disney or Orbitz to add the kids?

Can anyone walk me through what I need to do to add the kids? Do I need to tell Orbitz anything special or will they know how to do it? And how do I view this ressie on MDE? Just booked two night before our free dining package on orbitz. Never booked through anyone but Disney so I am a bit nervous. Thanks!!

I don't think there's always a delay before Orbitz picks up Disney's discounts. They already have the discounts available for fall that Disney released today. In fact, when I booked this time last year, I was able to book on Orbitz at midnight -- getting Disney's discounts plus the Orbitz discount -- at midnight, whereas booking through Disney didn't open until 6am.

There an Orbitz code today, 48hrsale, that isn't capped at $150, but I'm not sure how long it's good for.

Regarding the kids, just call Orbitz and tell them you need to add two kids. You might have to tell them that Disney will allow your kids for free if you get someone on the phone who doesn't know. They'll usually have to call Disney to confirm, and then they'll add the kids. You'll get a confirmation number that you can add to MDE, and then you'll be able to see it like any reservation.
