We will be staying at AKL for the first 4 days of our vacation (as part of a free WDW trip I won), then extending our stay at OKW for 3 nights. Does anyone know if I could purchase the Disney Dining Plan as a DVC member for only the 4 nights we will be at AKL?? We will rent a car for the 2nd portion of the trip and plan to go off property to restaurants. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Since you won the trip, I would check with whoever is making the arrangements to see if you can add it.

I don't think so. The DVC dining plan is only for reservations booked through member services, it is not an option just because you are a member. Your reservation at AKL is a free trip that you won so would not be able to add the DVC dining option to it. If you wanted to add the plan to just your OKW reservation (provided it is booked through MS) you can. Since they are 2 seperate reservations you can add it to the DVC res without a problem as the system sees it as a whole new guest, not a continuing reservation.

The Dining Plan is not available to anyone who stays on points at a non-DVC resort.

I just saw this on another thread:

Remember that, while the Disney Dining Plan is available to you through Member Services when you book your stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort (not applicable for The Disney Collection Resorts), you must book this prior to arrival.

Ohhhhhh.....I didn't realize that! Dh and I were going to do the DDP on our October trip, but since we're staying on points at the Poly for our first two nights, I guess that's not an option! But I guess we could still do it for our nights at the VWL, right?

I'm glad I saw this thread!

I would guess differently. I won a trip through work earlier this year. The travel agent was able to figure in the dining plan with no trouble. We actually went over our "free" budget, and we just paid the difference to the TA. We were not DVC members at the time, so I don't think being a member is a related issue. With the purchase of DVC, that turned out to be the most expensive "free" vacation I ever took! :sad2:

taxes will have to be paid on the value of the trip! Disney or whom ever will send you a 1099 at the end of the year, it is considered income. Find a discount web site that will show you the room and their prices, save this for your taxes because disney will figure taxes base on the rack rate. You can then show your tax person that the true cost would have been the xxxx not the disney price of xxxxx. A person won a free cruise and she had posted that she had to pay taxes on the trip. Nothing is free now a days

I understand the feeling...we did the same thing last October. We stayed longer than the trip we won and added two more people to the trip! We all had a blast! :rotfl2: On top of that we had a family reunion trip already booked for Nov at DLR.

Congratulations kddlm on your win! Have a great time.

It sounds as though your free trip was not booked thru DVC ... and therefore you did not get the DVC Dining plan, but the one available to anyone thru CRO (booked, in this case, by your travel agent).

The DVC Dining Plan, as already noted in this thread, is available only for reservations made thru MS at DVC resorts and is not available at non-DVC resorts even if reserved using DVC points. The DVC Dining Plan does not require the purchase of any admission passes as needed with the regular Dining Plan - booked as a package thru CRO.
