Question about Dining Plan and automatic gratuity on parties of 8+

We've got the dining plan again this year, but have a situation I've never run into before. This year, we are meeting family members there and will have a party of 9. I know they add the 18% gratuity automatically to the bill because of the large party but how do they handle that? Do they automatically charge it to your credit card connected with your room? I had really prefer to take cash with me and pay the tip right then instead of it going on my card for a week's worth of meals. I just hate my credit card being charged up! Anybody had this experience before?

They will give you the bill for the tip and you can pay it however you like.

It is correct, they give you the bill and you can decide to pay the tip in cash, CC or charge to room.

As a follow up to this question, we'll be in a group of 6, staying in the same room and on the dining plan. However, we'll want to pay our tips separately (or probably in 3 groups of 2 people). Will they be able to make that split so we can charge it to our KTTW cards separately?

I usually will pay my tips with a Disney gift card... makes life easier.

the servers can break out the tip for each party
