.... in the LONG AP thread (which I now call in my mind the Dr. P thread:D ) there was mention that CM's can buy an AP pass for anyone.

Could someone shed more info on this? My close cousin is a CM at DL, so maybe I have access to an even cheaper AP?

thanks!!!!

That comment got me started thinking, too...as I have a former student performing there right now. So, I did a search on the theme parks board for "CM discount", and here is what I learned:

It seems not all CM's are created equal. Benefits "seem" to differ based on what job the CM is fulfilling. Some get a limited number of benefits to give to whomever, while some can only give to immediate family members. But, one CM posted and said, "CM's are not supposed to talk about what benefits they get...they only way to know what your CM can do for you is to ask them directly."

I emailed my friend last night...but, we simply have waited too late to wait for a reply....we just bought them via hotwire savings club instead. I'm still gonna ask her when we get there, though.

Good luck!!

Thanks Beca---you are always so great at answering my posts. I won't see my cousin until Christmas time, so I'll ask then. He has gotten us into DL before which was great, and I do know there is a yearly limit on that.

Have a wonderful day!!

Thanks!!! You too!!!

I have a friend who used to work at TDS. I don't think their AP discount was more than $100 to make it less than DVC price.

I was just down at WDW last week and took my nephew and his friend to the F&W Festival (they're teenagers so they love to eat!). The friend works part-time for Disney and he was able to get my nephew in - he said he gets 12 passes per year and he can get up to 3 people in on each pass. It was a single day pass with park hopping rights. I'm not sure how much he would get off on annual passes but he did mention that he gets 40% off in the stores ... not too bad for a part-time job. I'll be down again next week and I'll try remember to ask him what his annual pass discount is.

The CM pass price is comparable to a regular AP renewal price, not much different. There's no such thing as a CM renewal, being cheaper like the regular APs are. They'd either have to buy a new AP or renewal at regular price.
WDW cm's get 40% off THIS time of year and 20%/35% all other depending on their status, on their merchandise. Restaurants are 20% (sitdown), they also get main gate passes (with blackouts) for their 12 visits a year, 4 comp. one day hopper passes and if they're management, they get a silver pass which gets them and 4 others in any time and their spouses get a separate silver pass.
Anyways, this DVC price is MUCH better than the CM AP rate.

THANK YOU for that definitive answer, Donna!!!

Now I don't have to spend the time between now and Christmas wondering---can go ahead and put our plan into motion: 5 DVC annual passes for next year...first trip coming in January. Woo-hoo!

The 40% off is a perk for WDW CMs as a holiday gift. That is not their normal merchandise discount.

CMs can purchase AP vouchers at Company D. I think our DVC AP rate beginning January 2, 2005 is a good deal if you need/want an annual pass.

I have a family member in management that has a silver pass. Sometimes though we just got in going through the utilidors, or once through a CM only door near Splash Mountain (they stored parade floats behind this area) There is also a "Gold" CM pass that allows an unlimited number of people in with unlimited use...

I can confirm that the CM discount on the AP is not as good as the DVC discount. I bought one last October 2003, before the last rate increase, for $330.
