Question About Character Meals with Pictures

Regarding the meals where you have a picture made before with a character: CRT with Cindy, Akershus with Belle, Donald's Safari.

Will the character sign an autograph then or not?

I've read that Donald will not sign, so all you get is a picture with him if you choose to buy it, but no autograph. You have to find him on the trails.

I guess if Belle is at the castle & Cindy might be at Norway, then we'd still get an autograph, but I just wanted to know so i don't embarrass myself asking for an autograph and being turned down!

All I can speak for is CRT. Cindy will sign.

We have never asked for an autograph to my memory (have eaten at both CRT and Norway) but I don't think it would hurt to ask the CM while your in line if it is allowed.
When you get your photos there is a number on them and you can view them from photo pass. On photo pass you can add their autograph to the bottom of your photo. It works out really well if you do photo pass though out your trip and order the CD but if you just get that one photo a bit expensive.

They all sign! We've gotten Donald's at Tusker House and Chef Mickey's. The pictures have nothing to do with the character autographs.

When we ate breakfast at Tusker House in December, Donald was outside for photos but would not sign autographs. If you buy the photo package at Tusker House you get your photos with Donald plus a photo of the characters dressed in their safari outfits with pre-printed signatures from those characters. The photo package was almost 30 bucks and generally we don't get them but the photos were awesome and we couldn't pass them up.

We also preorder the photopass CD ($99) and get our pictures printed at a local discount store. Much cheaper than their $15 (or whatever they charge)for each 5x7

Belle has always signed our autograph books at Akershus but the photo package comes out at the end of the meal so I doubt you'd be able to get back to her for her signature. That line is usually quite long with all the new people being seated.

I'm not sure if the Princess Meet and Greet (ToonTown) is still up and running, but that would be a great place to take your photos to and have them sign them. Don't miss their meet and greet. You really get so much more face time with the Princesses there than you will ever get at a character meal. (The same goes for the Fairies, but get to them when they first open or you will have a very long wait.)

We ate at the castle and Norway in March and while in line for the picture, we were asked if we had a book for them to sign and we saw them signing others' books.

I think the OP is referring to the picture taken before you enter the restaurant to eat??? If that's so, when we ate at Chef Mickey's, Mickey did not sign, only the Mickey inside as you were eating.

I think the OP is referring to the picture taken before you enter the restaurant to eat??? If that's so, when we ate at Chef Mickey's, Mickey did not sign, only the Mickey inside as you were eating.

Were there 2 Mickeys? Seems things have changed since I was last there.

At Chef Mickey's you get your picture taken with a model of food before the meal. You can buy this (ours was $31, I believe) during the meal. Mickey only comes out during the meal.

At Tusker House and Akershus will the character who greets you also sign an autograph book? (They do not circulate later during the meal, correct?)

Additionally, is it okay to take a picture with our own camera while the picture with greeter is being taken? To ask a CM to take a picture with our own camera?

We experienced the same at Akershus and Tusker House (did not go to CRT). Belle signed autographs, Donald did not.

both times at CRT with Cinderella, you could take a picture with your own camera but the CM will not take a picture with your camera...we did not ask, but others did and were told, sorry, not enough time - would cause the line to back up too much. I would assume the same thing happens at Akershus & Tusker House. If you're taking pics of your kids with the character, have you camera ready because they don't let you linger & re-take or re-pose the kids. I've seen people hurried away (one case I saw, the parents were in the pose for the Picture with Donald that the castmember took for the photo package, and then the parents stepped away and the Mom turned around to try & take one with her own camera of Donald & the kids...CM told them sorry, they had to move along, it was time for the next group.)

This has not been our experience at either CRT or Akershus. The photopass photographers always asked me if I wanted to take a picture first, then they take the "official picture". I was just trying to sneak pictures of the interaction and autograph, but they allowed me to take a picture of my daughter posed with the princess before they did. This was just in November.

I think because the photo in included in your meal price at CRT and Askerhaus (SP?) the photo pass CM will allow you to take the photo, while at Donald Tusker House you have to purchase the package. Donald used to sign and walk around but I read on another thread that he moved to Photo package only and no autograph in March...

Can you have the photo taken, and then decide whether to purchase afterwards? Or do you need to commit to the package first?
