question about character "gifts"

Hi,
I've been reading through these posts and gathering wonderful information for our "once in a lifetime" Thanksgiving trip to Disneyland. My, very generous, brother is taking the whole family for the holiday and we will be staying at GCH.

In many of the posts, I've read about people bringing Disney items to leave as gifts from the characters. I have a 4 yr old and would love to do that for her. The whole trip is a surprise for her.

Finally getting to my question... how do you go about delivering these "gifts"? Will the hotel handle that for you? If you do it yourself, how do you avoid being caught by the little one?

Thanks for any info!

Probably the only thing the hotel will do is setup an in room celebration or whatever they are called. They have packages, but I have also heard you could get signed X from character X.

I did this for the first time when my girls were 9....I just brought a bunch of little gifts in my suitcase and each night after they were asleep "Tink" would leave a gift somewhere in the room....along with a slight sprinkle of glitter so we knew it was Tink (this was before she had friends, lol).

Now they're 14 and "Tink" still leaves trinkets for them, lol. And this last trip Tink even left something for me which left me VERY surprised, lol. Traditions are wonderful!

I think I am going to have to use this for my DD on her first trip in 18 days:banana:

GREAT IDEA!

That is so sweet that "Tink" left something for you too. You have some very thoughtful family members.

What a great idea. I am taking my DGS 6 for his first visit to Disneyland. I may steal your wonderful tradition.

I was just at our local Dollar Tree buying gifts for Operation Christmas Child and I noticed they have little packages of pixie dust in the toy aisle. Glitter works great for us, but I just wanted to let you know. This pixie dust was kind of white/irridescent (sp?) in color.

I have read on trip reports where someone will "forget" something in the room as everyone is leaving and pop back in for a second. That's when they get out the gift. (Granted that won't work every day, but maybe do a variation - dad takes her towards the elevator while mom is making sure the lights are out...etc)

Our first trip we did Tink gifts, after the girls were asleep I arranged stuff on the table in the room, I sprinkled pixie dust (glitter) all over the table and then used a Polly Pocket shoe to make shoe prints. :) The slept thru the whole thing, which was good because they had the bed next to the table! LOL DBF held his cell phone light up for me to shine on the table and just in case they did wake up I was ready to look out the window as if I was checking on something but that wasn't necessary at all. :) They loved this and we did it again for our second trip with great results. :) I just got stuff at the dollar store, Target's dollar spot and stuff like that, it was a fun cheap thing to do. :)

Thank you everyone for replying! I am so excited about this trip! I will get sneaky for leaving the gifts... maybe I'll have Mimi do it, she's much sneakier than me. LOL

LOVE that part!!! :goodvibes

Thanks! I felt inspired! LOL :goodvibes It was their favorite part tho, they kept saying "she was really THERE, did you see her shoe prints?" It was the finishing touch. :)
