Question about changing a reservation

Hi, I'm looking for advice on modifying a reservation. I have a reservation May 27-June 3 with PH and free dining for four people. I now want to add two people (friends of my two teenagers). We are at POFQ now, but we are willing to change resorts. I am willing to shorten the trip to May 30-June 3 to save money, but I'm wondering if there are other things I should know before changing. I think I may lose the free dining, but I hope to offset that cost with the shorter trip. Any suggestions are much appreciated. I am not a veteran planner as many of you seem to be.

You'll be over occupancy, so unless you want to book a second room, you'd probably need to book a suite or something with capacity for 6.

You are correct that you will not be able to get Free Dining, as that Special Offer has expired. You could try calling to change your reservation. You may be able to get a Room Only Discount for your dates. I'd check by looking for a new reservation with your modified party for your dates. We don't book the dining plan any longer - we use the Room Only discount as it works out better for us. If you have to move resorts, you may consider Coronado Springs.

How old are all of the guests? This will help determine how to divvy up guests in case you need two rooms and, perhaps, not lose free dining in, at least, the room you currently have booked.

There are several ways you can go about this and, hopefully, not lose free dining.

1) Call WDW and see if you can switch your free dining promo to a suite at AoA, ASMu or a cabin at Ft. W - they all hold 6. If they don't have availability for your original dates, try the shorter dates you proposed

2) See if they have a 2nd room available at POFQ for your dates. If so, you will need someone who is 18 or over to be the lead guest on that room, so you may need to shuffle people around in order to book this. I would still try to have 4 people in the free dining room (to get free dining!) and put two people in the new room (possibly with a room only discount?)

3) If they don't have availability for a second room at POFQ, ask if you can move your promo over to another mod and book a second room at the new resort or even two value rooms. Keep asking if you can keep your free dining promo on any of these rooms and see if they have a room discount for the second room.

I hope that makes sense.
