We're going to Disney in early December. On the 3 different days we plan to visit the MK they close early for MVMCP (which we don't plan to attend). Will we still be able to view the Castle Dream Lights or should we plan to attend on another evening?

One other question. I'd love to hear from anyone who has done the Fantasmic Dining Package and which restuarant you selected.

Thanks!

The castle lighting is usually around 5:45-6:00. You should be able to see it.

Thanks MickeyMomTo2! I didn't want to go all that way and miss out on seeing those beautiful lights. :flower3:

I will also be there in early Dec. staying @ POP 12/3-12/14.
The lighting at Magic Kingdom is so beautiful. Do NOT miss the Osborne Spectacle of Light at DHS after Fantasmic! They usually light at 6:00 but my DM and I found out the hard way that it was much easier to go through after Fantasmic! as the entire street was packed with onlookers for the lighting at 6:00. With regards to your question about Fantasmic! dinner packages, I ALWAYS book at Hollywood & Vine. Am doing this again this time too. It is the only buffet style and I travel with young grandchildren. This time, I am travelling with DD, DGD and DSIL. DGD will be 2 1/2 in Dec and will still be eligible to eat free. So the buffet's work best for my family. If I was going without children, I would absolutely book Brown Derby (made the mistake of booking when DGS was 2 and did not work for him as this restaurant is a more upscale restaurant and more time-consuming.) I had to do this that year as it was the only restaurant still available for the dinner package. So it really depends on what you are looking for and what your families preference is. If you are on the dining plan, I do not think I would want to use 2TS for Brown Derby and it is 1TS for H&V. I cannot comment on Mama Melrose's as I have never tried it but if you like Italian food this might be a good choice. I love H&V for the selection and DGD can get her own plate with her own choices at no additional charge. The food is buffet food, nothing special, but there is something to please everyone. Hope this helps. If you have not booked a Fantasmic! dinner package for early December I am not sure you will find anything available at this point. They do go pretty quick and I know POP is booked solid for early December as Pop Warner comes in that first weekend. They are only going to be showing Fantasmic! 2 nights per week in 2009. Tuesday and Saturday I believe so I can only imagine that getting these ADR's for 2009 is going to be as challenging as getting an ADR for CRT! Good luck.

I emailed WDW regarding the 2008 schedule for the Castle Dream Lights, here is the response:

"A dazzling lighting spectacle is transforming the iconic Cinderella
Castle at Walt Disney World Resort into a glimmering, shimmering ice
palace at holiday time. Bathed in more than 200,000 tiny white lights,
the castle glows and glistens as "Cinderella's Holiday Wish" delights
Magic Kingdom guests. Starting November 10th, the nightly (5:45 p.m.)
illumination follows live onstage appearances by Mickey, Minnie and the
gang, Fairy Godmother, Cinderella and her Prince Charming. Park guests
are treated to an icy wonderland seeming to fill up half the sky. As if
suddenly dusted in a million ice crystals, Cinderella Castle shines like
the galaxies, adding to the wintertime wonderment."

The PP's are correct. Starting Nov 10, nightly at 5:45PM.:cloud9: :santa:

My family ate at Mama Melrose's and absolutely loved it! Our food was great and we walked out of there stuffed!

Thanks for some great info! We probably would have tried to see the Osborne Lights before but now we'll wait until after Fantasmic. :thumbsup2 I'll be doing the Fantasmic dinner package on my next trip in Nov. 2009 (just me and my best friend going for a girls only get-away) so I've got some time yet. Didn't know they were cutting the show back to 2 nights in 09 :confused3 Thanks for the heads up on that one!

Thank you! We've written the time down on our schedule so we don't miss it!

Yum! Sounds great!

One more question on the Fantasmic dining package. Does the price listed for the dinner packages include anything on the menu or is there a seperate selection for the set price?

Glad I found this thread and that you posted this, thanks! We're going in 8 days and the beautiful castle is one of my favorite things in the whole world!!! Last year, my daughter sometimes had a hard time getting me away from the castle and taking tons of pics. It always made me tear up and just reading this description my eyes water up, just thinking of seeing them again next Friday. Dumb I guess, but I can't help it! And, I'm glad to know what time they will be going on, even though we can't stay for the MVMCP party our first night there(other plans unfortuntely), but I have to see the lights at least! :santa:

Glad I could help. You were kind enough to help me on the Disney Visa thread, so I'm just returning the favor. :thumbsup2

Enjoy your trip and the Castle Dream Lights! :cloud9:
