Question about booking two rooms...

I will be booking two studios for next December and have a few questions...

1 room is for DH and myself and the other is for my best friend. Is there a way to link these reservations? Will she be treated the same as if she were staying in the room with us? I don't know if there are differences or not.

Also, is it possible to have myself listed as a guest in both rooms so that I have a key to her room?

We booked two rooms (a 2-bedroom and a studio) when by brothers and I stayed at AKV in December. When you book the rooms you need to give the names of the people who will be in the rooms. Your name cannot be on both rooms since you can only be in one room at a time; however, both reservations are tied to your membership ID. You'll see both reservations at the DVC member site. Everyone in our party was treated the same and had the same access and privileges.

I don't know if you can have a key that works for both rooms. At least your friend could request two keys and give you one.

Your name can be added to your friends room as long as are not the lead person on both rooms.

So, if you are a guest on your room (as DH as lead), you can also be a guest on your friends room.

I think that you need to just request that the rooms be close together as you are traveling together. My understanding is they do try to keep parties close to each other.

Linking a reservation is something that happens when someone has two different confirmation numbers for the same room type and links them so they don't have to move mid trip. This happens, for example, when you have to wait list.

:) We always book two studios in Oct/Dec. My MIL gets her own studio with her own charging and tickets on her room card. We have APs. As the PP stated they show up on my account on the Member's website and will send her a confirmation in the mail for her own room. The times we have done this we have been on the same floor about 6 doors down from each other.

If your party is large enough to be considered a Grand Gathering ( 8 persons or more), consider registering your group as a GG. It will increase the chances of the rooms being assigned near to each other.

Disney's GRAND GATHERINGS

Have fun planning. :)

Thank you for the responses! I have family traveling at the same time so I think we will register as a grand gathering.

I thought I read that the new reservation system also will list multiple rooms under the same travel planing number and one of the purposes is so that they will be assigned close together.

When making the reservation you may want to start out saying that you are reserving two rooms and see if that helps.

Hi-

With the new system, I received just one email with the reservation for my room and my friends room (2 studios).
One reservation number as well.

I have booked a reservation like this for my wife and myself and then a room for my parents. We had to do this because 2 studios were available at Wilderness Lodge Villas but not a 2 bedroom. So they put one in our name and one in my parents name, but under my membership and then put requests on both to be on the same floor and next to each other. Believe it or not they were able to get the directly across the hallway from each other, which was very helpful. :surfweb:
