I'm looking for a new tripod and I'd like to upgrade from my aluminum Benro to a lighter carbon fiber version, but don't want to spend $$$ to do it.

In my searches, I found the Benro C-297EX Flexpod. (see link for more detailed information)

I would really like a carbon fiber tripod and want one that is going to be as tall as possible. This one is only $279, carbon fiber and extends to over 70 inches with the center column all the way up. Although it looks like it's designed with macro photography in mind, does anyone see a reason why it would be an issue for normal photography purposes like fireworks, night-shooting, etc.?

The other carbon fiber option that I found through Benro that's a similar height is almost $500, which I don't think will be as easy of a sell to the DH and also wouldn't be a practical purchase since I don't do that much tripod shooting at home.

Yo Ann! Long time no see.

I have two Benro's. both carbon fiber and love them both. That looks like a good one to me.

My little one is the travel angel. The bigger one I have had for 5-6 yrs and they do not make anymore.

I think it is a very good Tripod for the price and you know I care little about tripods!!!!!! LOL

John! :goodvibes

You were just the man I was hoping would respond. I saw the Travel Angel series and thought those might be a good option, although they didn't seem to provide as much height as some of the full-sized options, so I figured this one would probably be better for me in the long run. Plus, I'm not the one who carries my tripod around (DH does), so I think he can tolerate lugging a standard sized tripod around for me. It's the least he could do. ;)

I'm going to continue browsing around some more and also hopefully get out and do some local shooting with my tripod this weekend to make sure I want to upgrade and it's not just a case of NAS from returning to the Photo Board. :thumbsup2
