I'm looking for a new tripod and I'd like to upgrade from my aluminum Benro to a lighter carbon fiber version, but don't want to spend $$$ to do it.
In my searches, I found the Benro C-297EX Flexpod. (see link for more detailed information)

I would really like a carbon fiber tripod and want one that is going to be as tall as possible. This one is only $279, carbon fiber and extends to over 70 inches with the center column all the way up. Although it looks like it's designed with macro photography in mind, does anyone see a reason why it would be an issue for normal photography purposes like fireworks, night-shooting, etc.?
The other carbon fiber option that I found through Benro that's a similar height is almost $500, which I don't think will be as easy of a sell to the DH and also wouldn't be a practical purchase since I don't do that much tripod shooting at home.
