We will be traveling this July with our DD who will be 14 months, and my MIL who will be using a wheelchair in the parks. Now, I've never traveled with anyone in my party using a wheelchair before, so I'm new to this. My MIL will certainly want to go on rides that she can, and we will have the baby to "swap" with too. I was wondering how this situation is handled, and if anyone has ever experienced this before in your party? How did this all work? :confused3

Thanks for any input on how this kind of situation works when going on attractions together.

You might find answers to your questions on the DisAbilities board. Here's a link to the FAQ thread

This is from allearsnet.com Mobility Issues page:

ACCESS
Methods of accessibility vary from attraction to attraction within the parks. The Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities and park guidemaps use symbols to indicate boarding procedures for each attraction. In addition, contact a host or hostess at each attraction before entering.

Certain attractions require you to transfer from wheelchairs to ride a system either by yourself or with the assistance of a member of your party. WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort hosts and hostesses are not permitted to physically assist Guests in transferring from their wheelchairs.

Auxiliary Entrance Limitations - Some attractions have auxiliary entrances for those with disabilities. These are intended to offer Guests in wheelchairs or with service animals a more convenient entrance to the attraction. Auxiliary entrances are not intended to bypass waiting lines. Guests with disabilities and up to five members of their party may enter through these Entrances. The rest of the party should use the main entrance.

about Baby Swap

you can also use Fast Pass instead of baby swap, or combine the two, to minimize wait times.

You should absolutely read some of the FAQs on the DISAbil. board. They're really really helpful. On our last trip, we had a 20 mo. old and my mom in a wheelchair --- followed by my dad on a scooter! Most lines accomodate a wheelchair. When we were child swapping, two stayed with the bub and two went on the ride, got switch passes, and sent the others up.

In the past my mom was in a wheel chair. Some cm's will automaticlly bring you to the front of the line and we'd get on right away or we'd go down the wheel chair access ramp to the ride which would put us right on the ride as well.

When we were there with a 10 month old. The parent who waited with the baby while you rode got on right after you got off to exchange the baby.
