I am a Fall 10 hopeful. Today I went to a campus presentation just to figure out if there was anything I didn't know already about the program. At the end I took the paper with the code about applying. But it's for the Spring program. Now here's my question.

Do I want to apply now to see if I'd get in the program? I don't want to get my hopes up to going next fall just to get denied. That would break my heart. I have no intentions of doing the spring program I just want to see if I'd get in first. Is this a bad thing?

i wouldnt say its a bad thing but its not really an indication of whether you'll get in next year

and also, when they invite you, you're kind of taking up someone else's spot who might really want this

I know that if I get in for Spring it's not 100% definate that I'll get in for Fall but it's better than knowing nothing.

Also if I get in the moment I get the e-mail I'd turn it down. I really have no intentions of doing a Spring program, second semester freshman year. I'd rather do the Fall program.

you raelly cant know 100% that you get in, there are quite a few people who tried last semester and got in but declined and then didnt get in this semester.

EDIT: misread your post. but yea i guess, idk its up to you. i perosnally wouldnt

Rather than completing the entire application, what I did was complete the first part up through the web application. That way, I knew that I could possibly pass that again next year, but I didn't go all the way as to have a phone interview, which may lead to taking someone's spot. I emailed Disney shortly after and told them that I had started my application, but would not be able to participate next semester, so that way they knew not to look for anything more from me this time around.
And then you can spend the next couple of months preparing yourself to have the best phone interview ever. Browse the boards, see what kind of questions you may get, go over your answers for them. This way, you never get an official invitation and take someone else's spot, but it may help you be more comfortable the next time around, knowing that you're well prepared.

Whichever way you decide to go, please remember that, per the standing policy Walt Disney World Company, Applicants may not apply for Hourly Guest Service Roles (including Disney College Program and Disney CareerStart Program roles) at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort more than once in a six-month period.
