When we go in April, DD will still technically be 2 (she will turn 3 the day we fly back home). I want her to wear a birthday button everywhere. We are having dinner at Ariel's that week. I really want her to get birthday wishes from the princesses, but if she wears a birthday button, will they think she is 3 that day and try to charge her for her meal? I have already told Disney Dining she is 2, but don't want a hassle from staff there that day.

We'll be doing the same thing in April with our daughter the week before she turns 3. When I asked about it the other day people here seemed to think it would be ok. I'm going to carry id for her just in case.

We're not there yet (DD is almost 14 months), but I'm laughing a little at your post because that is SO a question I'd ask when we get to that age! :) I would hope it would be okay because a birthday celebration can be long.

You are celebrating her birthday, which doesn't mean it IS her birthday.

All the buttons say is Happy Birthday, with a space for the name. It doesn't say "it is my b'day". :)

Remember, DLR celebrated its own birthday for 1.5 years or more...:goodvibes

We were just there this week and had an early dinner at Ariel's on Easter Sunday. We have a two year old son. I wanted to mention that the meal they give the under 3 children is really small portions. According to the waitress it is half the size of the kid's menu portion. It is the same size as the "toddler" meal that you can order at most of the counter service.

Anyone have photos of the toddler portions in comparision with child portions? We will have a 7,5,3,2 & 1 year old with us. We're having breakfast at Ariel's..for the under 3's, since they are free, do they get a plate or eat off someone's or what?

The breakfast is just served to everyone at the table. You get a 3 tiered plate with fruit, cheeses and spread and breads, a platter of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes. The only thing you get individually is drinks. Everything else is family style.

I'm sorry, I don't have a reply for the OP but I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

When we took DD for her 3rd BDay the CM wrote "#3" on her birthday button. You can tell the CM at Ariel's that she is not yet 3, but this trip is for her birthday which is on ___________ . I don't think they will hassle you about it.

If you want to make absolutely certain, then bring a copy of her birth certificate.

Thank you everyone for putting my mind at ease! About the mentioned "toddler size", when I called Disney Dining, they said she is not given any food, and will have to eat off our plate unless we pay to order her something. Maybe they did it special for you for Easter? It would be great for her to be given something to eat. (sure she won't eat much of anything anyway with all the excitement).

Well if she will eat off your plate just do it that way. They really do bring you a lot of food. I've never been able to completely finish mine, even the cheeseburger is huge! LOL

Yes, the toddler meal they brought him was very small but FREE and included a beverage :cool1: (Sorry no pictures) We ordered something from the kids menu and they just did a half portion. We did the chicken breast nuggets which was 2 little nuggets, a few green beans and small scoop of mashed potatoes. I don't think it was just because of Easter.
The cheeseburger was huge and I ended up eating some of my daughter's because I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was disgusting!
Anyway, because my dd is now 10 she must order off the adult menu and we had to pay the adult price!!! YIKES! There is no way she was going to finish any of those meals! And because she is so picky at what she eats the only thing on the menu she would order was the cheeseburger.
We actually did not have a very good meal there this last time for a variety of reasons. It certainly wasn't worth the $140+. I think from now on we will stick with Storyteller's at GC and Lilo's at PP. At least that way you can order off the regular menu (much cheaper) and still have the character experience.

I just made a PS for us for DS's birthday. :) I'm talking about breakfast here, by the way.

"Heather" said that when you sit there will be danishes, deli meats, fruits, and some other things on the table, then after everyone is seated they introduce a princess and bring out platters.

I assume that those under 3 would just eat from those platters (or maybe with platter to plate then eat) like the rest of your party will be. :confused3

And she said that the charge for it includes tax and gratuity! So that's cool!

bumbershoot,

That is the way it works. The platter is shared amongst everybody, so the little one will just eat of that. Even though my DD was not yet 3 when we ate there, she had a plate to herself.

I thought the breakfast there was good, but my wife was not so impressed. It might be that I had not had greasy food in a while and it hit me just the right way.
