Question about ADRs, may need to switch number of people

I have a ADR question. We have a trip planned for January. We already have all of our ADR's. The trip is for me, DH, DD, DS, MIL, and FIL. My MIL and FIL may not be able to come. My MIL just found out she has cancer, and is not sure how long the treatment will be. All of our ADR's are for 6. If we have to change from 6 to 4, is it going to be a huge issue? I don't want to change them right now. What if they can go? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would keep them as they are...they can always seat less but not always seat more than the reservation is for...good luck with everything...

You could call and see if they can change them, but if they can't, I would simply leave them alone and when you show up just say you have 2 less.

We added my step daughter at the last minute last month and every time we showed up I had to tell them there was 8 people instead of 7 and we were always accommodated without a problem.

Its harder to show up with 2+ extra people but adding only one or showing up with less should not be a problem at all.
