Question about adding a day...

We are going on out trip next Tuesday through the following Monday. We're scheduled to arrive at around 7 PM. Currently we have the 5 day ticket, with the original plan being to go to parks Wednesday through Sunday. However, it would be nice to find something to do Tuesday night. But based on Magical Express times and then times to downtown disney and when things there close, it may not be worth it. But we are staying near Epcot, and I know they have extra magic hours that day. I think the cost of adding an extra day is only about $20 for both of us.

Can I simply add a day after the fact? I mean if our flight is late or what not, it wouldn't be worth it. But if we are all situated in our hotel by say 9 PM or so, it would definitely be worth it. Could I use our magic bands to get into Epcot, burning a day, and then add a day back at the the hotel..basicly turning it into a 6-day ticket on the 2nd day of our trip?

You can go to the concierge desk of your resort and they can add the day anytime before your last day runs out.

One more question...would this impact any fast passes? So I have fast passes set up Wednesday through Sunday for all 5 days. If I use one day though on Tuesday night, will that remove fast passes for one of the 5 other days before I add an extra day?

Last summer we got to Disney earlier than planned and decided to add a day to walk around Epcot and have dinner. It was easy to add the day and did not affect the plans for our other days. It was just a bonus day!

No. It didn't for us. We just added a day to our tickets at GR outside if Epcot.
