Question about AAA benefits

I don't know if this is the best place to ask this question, but giving it a try.

Is there a time limit you have to (or should) wait after signing up with AAA before you can use their benefits (towing in particular)?

I'm not trying to do anything unethical so please no flames, just asking if this is allowed. My DH's car is about 100 miles away and the engine is blown and needs to be towed. Can I sign up with AAA tonight online and have it towed tomorrow?

I don't know about the wait time between sign-up and first use, but I wanted to tell you that for a tow of up to 100 miles, you will need AAA-PLUS. I have it, and it's worth it in my opinion. Other good discounts with the card also.

I have heard, I don't know if it is entirely accurate, but I have heard, that you can join AAA this minute and be entitled to their benefits immediately.

I would definately give them a call right now to find out.

This is so complicated. DH was on his way to a job in Wyoming when the car broke down. His brother got him back home and now he's headed back to Wyoming with my car. We'll be without a car for about 3 days till he gets back.

I checked into AAA and it would cost $84 for AAA Plus (one member). I think I would have to get to the car to have AAA come tomorrow and that would present another problem.

We do have towing insurance. I checked with our agent and he said he would pay up to $100 for the tow. So I think we'll go that route and hopefully we can get it somewhere close for that amount. If we do that then I don't have to find a way to the car.

But I'm still going to join AAA for the future. I've been thinking about it anyway. Ugh, now we have to find a way to replace this car. We so don't have money for a car payment. We just started braces on my DD and will be paying $120 a month for that. But this car (Toyota Corolla) has almost 300,000 miles on it so I guess its time to say goodbye.
