Ok - DH happened to notice this on the dog and he's taking her to the vet tomorrow to check it out...but I'm just curious.

Can dogs get hemmaroids? (sp?)

she's got this funky looking reddish bump near her bum hole (can I say that here?) Doesn't seem to be painful, but sometimes she tries to get at it to lick/scratch/I dunno. I keep telling her no.

We haven't the foggiest idea what could this be...anyone see something like this before?

thanks

(yes that's her down there)

I just did a web search and it looks like dogs can have hemorrhoids!!! Try searching on the web...maybe you can look at pics and see if it is the same thing....(not that you'd want to look at pics, you know what I mean)

Hope your doggie is doing better soon!!!

It could be a hemorrhoid (sp?) - my neighbor's dog has them. It could also be a "hot spot." They can happen anywhere on the body . Dogs make them worse by licking and licking them.

omg - this is serioulsy the LAST thing in the world I would have had to google!

heheh...ok - i'm off

Sounds like it could be an impacted anal gland.

yep - Stinkerbelle's always gotta ask the oddball question.

I think I'll just let the vet deal with it and see what happens tomorrow...really dont' feel like comparing her bum to pictures on the internet.

impacted anal what? umm....eeww!!

she's been, uh, "regular" though...normal too...that's what's odd.

ah well - thanks for the help and i'm glad I could provide some comic relief

I don't blame you....I didn't look at any pics, either...that is DEFINITELY a TMI!

LOL< I just had a thought...the protrusion could be also known as a little 'stinkerbelle' (is it shaped like a bell?)...jk...sorry, I couldn't resist....:teeth:

Our dog had "bum issues" twice. The first time was an impacted anal gland which was easily taken care of by the vet. The second issue was a bee sting in THAT area! Poor baby!

Good luck tomorrow!

ok - whatever IT is isn't looking too pretty this morning...I woke up and saw some blood drops on the floor...I lift up her tail

:earseek:

promptly got DH out of bed to investigate...She seems ok...but it's just not looking real pretty back there.

yes - she IS going to the vet today...god bless my beige carpets until her appointment...

this is actually what my DH thinks it is...he had better luck with google then me.

Ditto on the impacted anal gland. I have a 13 yr old poodle that gets them all the time. Her poor hiney looks pathetic until the dr. takes care of it. They taught us to do it but.. eww.. I just can't. You got to get in there and squeeeezzzeeeeeee
