Me: Sophie (18/19) - 2nd Trip
Scott (30) - 7th Trip, My best friend and housemate
We wake up very early as today is my birthday and our plans are quite honestly crazy, I throw my birthday cards into a bag (I brought them but no presents) and off we go! We drive down to Dunkin Donuts first of all and I call mum as we drive into Animal Kingdom after our delicious breakfast.
We get my birthday badge from Guest Services and then immediately fastpass Kilimanjaro Safaris and head over to Dinoland to wait it out. The Dinosaur queue is nice and short so we jump on that first, the CM who loads our Time Rover spots my badge and tells me to be extra careful and watch out for dinosaurs as they particularly like to eat birthday people we taste of birthday cake! Next up is Primeval Whirl where I get a cheerful happy birthday! from the CM who waves us off. This is one of our favourite little rides so once its over we immediately run around and get straight on again. The CM notices and laughs and she spots us go by again!
By now our fastpass time has rolled around so we head back to Africa and pretty much walk straight on. We have a great guide (whos name I never got
) and the safari is excellent with us having to make a stop for a giraffe who walked right across the road just on front of us, when we went past I could have leant out and touched it as it was so close to us amazing! Ok, thats Animal Kingdom done so we leap in the car and drive over to MGM next. Again I grab my next birthday badge as we enter the park.
Not doing too much here, we nip straight over to Muppets and then Star Tours. This has quite a long queue but I join it anyway (Scott doesnt come as he gets ill on motion controls.) I end up getting through quite quickly as Im a single rider.
The next park on the agenda is EPCOT but as well be finishing off in the Magic Kingdom, it makes more sense to park there and get a monorail over to EPCOT so thats what we do. When we arrive at the TTC a monorail must have just left so we are the only ones on the platform. I ask the guard if we can ride in the cabin and we queue up right at the far end. When the monorail arrives we are allowed into the cabin alongside a mum and her little son from the Mid West. We find out we will be testing out one of the monorails safety systems en route to EPCOT called the MAPO test and our driver explains in great detail all about this test and its history along with some fascinating monorail history. The MAPO test goes exactly as could be hoped and we are soon at EPCOT.
Another park means another birthday badge, the EPCOT one is by far my favourite of the day. We check out the ride times and then head first to the Electric Umbrella for lunch. I also open my cards there so it actually starts to feel like my birthday. Straight after lunch I go to Mission Space and join single riders where the CMs make a mistake. Im put through as a 5th person in a group and as such have no team! When we get to the 2nd preshow video I find a team with no one stood there as that capsule isnt working. The family to my right see its my birthday and joke that it must be a fun way to be spending it, blasting off to Mars all by myself! When the CM comes around to check they realise the mistake and walk me through the ride to find a group of 3 who I sit with. They have obviously never been on the ride before and its fun to see their expressions as we take off.
When I eventually meet back up with Scott (who had been wondering where I was as the single riders queue was advertised as having a very short wait) we go on Spaceship Earth together and then join the test Track single riders queue for a ride before grabbing a return monorail to the TTC and then onto the Magic Kingdom.
Its getting late by now so we only have time to pick up my 4th badge (this is the same design as MGM) and a quick spin on the carousel before our ADR at the Plaza for dinner. We both get burgers and follow up with an enormous ice cream sundae which is delicious.
We walk over to Toontown, via a trip on the Barnstormer, as I want to meet some characters. First we go to the Princess room at the Toontown Hall of Fame. Tonight, Snow White, Belle and Cinderella are taking visitors.
Cinderella was one of the two characters I wanted to meet on my birthday so this is good news. I get my picture with all three and Scott chooses to have his taken with Belle.
Next we take a tour of Mickeys house on our way to the Judges Tent. There are only a few people before us in the queue and we are meeting Mickey within about ten minutes! Mickey was the second character I had wanted to meet today so I am very happy to have found them both. I get photos taken of me and Mickey together and of me and Scott with him too.
We finish off our Magic Kingdom day with rides on the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain, topped off by watching Wishes from Liberty Square.
As we walk out of the park, neither of us feel that tired so we decide to take a drive over to the Downtown Disney Marketplace. I grab my 5th and final badge and we do a bit of light shopping before heading back to Summer Bay. Thats got to be the most action packed birthday Ive ever had!
