Today is our 1st full day in Orlando but annoyingly we have an errand to fulfil first, the car’s ominous rattling has us both concerned so we’ve decided to take it back to Dollar and get it sorted.

First things first however and breakfast is on the cards. We didn’t do our usual first night supermarket run so I go down to Roaring Forks to find myself something and buy a chocolate croissant and fill up my mug with juice. There’s a cast member flitting around the room greeting people and keeping an eye that all is above board, guess it would be kind of easy to sneak out with an extra apple or something with the way the room is laid out. He spots my “Just Married” badge and comes over to say congratulations and asks where my husband is? I say he’s back in our room and the guy yells out to the whole place that my new husband has sent me down alone to get breakfast on my honeymoon and then gets everyone to cheer and clap that we just got married so I could tell Scott he’d missed out! When I get to the room Scott is glad to have missed it all, he hates that kind of attention!

We decide to drive to the branch of Dollar on I-Drive to see if they can help before traipsing all the way back to the airport (and paying even more tolls) so we set off. We’ve not been down I-Drive for a few years so plenty has changed, although of course, there are still the old and familiar places too. We get to Dollar and are told they can’t help us and we need to go to the airport, great, that’s gonna waste a few hours. So we set off and eventually get the car changed to another Dodge Charger, this time in black.

As we’re off site anyway, I suggest to Scott that we stop in to the large scrapbooking warehouse I want to visit that’s at a distant end of the 192. Scott’s not exactly thrilled by the prospect but goes along with it as I’ll only keep bugging him so at least it’ll be done! I hit the place and it’s like being a kid in a candy store, I could have bought the whole place. As it is I limit my purchases and end up spending only a little over $100 – oops!

Heading back along the 192 we spot a Dennys and go for some grub. Turns out this is a bit more of a “local’s” place than we’d normally frequent, still it’s a darn sight more touristy than the one we ended up at in the middle of the desert last year! We order some cheese sticks and fries; I think Scott may have ordered some chicken too. The food is good and we enjoy it before setting of back to the Lodge.

The sun is shining so once we’ve got the car back to the hotel we decide to board the boat over to the Magic Kingdom. We end up with our own private transportation as we’re the only ones waiting. The journey is very peaceful and we have a good time taking some pics.

However as we near the park, clouds are gathering and, just as we arrive at the dock, the heavens weep.

We run under some shelter and wait for it to settle down before dashing across to the ticket gates and entering the park.

As it’s still wet we head for Adventureland, at least that area is supposed to feel like a rainforest! We do some of the rides, making our way clockwise around the park and into Fantasyland. I decide I’m doing Dumbo as the wet weather has created some very short queues rarely seen in the Magic Kingdom.

I also try on some comedy headgear in honour of our best man!

Last ride for today is the carrousel which Scott joins me on.

We have to leave early as tonight is a MNSSHP night and guests are already starting to flood in. Walking back down main St we see some brilliant costumes, the most incredible of which had to be Edward Scissorhands, it was just so realistic! Before exiting we nip into the Emporium for a quick browse. I try on the veil ears, initially just to get a silly pic, but when else will I get to wear these so I end up buying them and wearing them for the rest of the trip.

We catch the boat back to the Lodge and get a nice surprise on entering our villa. Someone had set up some balloons on the table and attached is a white folder containing a signed print from Mickey and Minnie sending us their congratulations, what a wonderful touch.

Well we have no clue what we did at this point although I have an inkling we may have gone to Downtown Disney and got some dinner there, either way I’m sure we had a good time!!! :rotfl2::banana:

Sounds like you had a fab day. :thumbsup2 I am looking forward to reading more.

May I ask what was the name of the scrapbooking warehouse you went to? Do you have the address? :flower3:

Been watching for Day 2. Sorry you had to devote a portion of your day to getting the car swapped, however, it didn't seem to waste much of your time as you were wanting to shop at the scrapbooking place at that end of the road sometime anyway. (Good job turning that glitch into an opportunity.) Looks like a fun day at MK. It pays to press on when other leave because of a little rain, doesn't it? I love staying at WL, too, and from your description I could just about hear the peaceful drone of the launch that carried you from there to MK.

glad you had a fab day- good idea to stock up on scrapbooking items :thumbsup2

The warehouse was Mouse Memories. Here's a link to their website which has the address and driving directions. We had a satnav but the detailed directions they give for finding the correct turning are excellent.

Place doesn't look that big when you arrive but it absolutely packed and there's tons of Disney stuff in there plus other characters - I found a lot of Marvel Comics & Dr Seuss stuff which I bought for IOA.

great start.xx

i remember we got those balloons when we got married.xx:goodvibes

Love that you got those lovely wedding ears. I totally agree it really has to be worn on your honeymoon.
