Today is our 1st full day in Orlando but annoyingly we have an errand to fulfil first, the cars ominous rattling has us both concerned so weve decided to take it back to Dollar and get it sorted.
First things first however and breakfast is on the cards. We didnt do our usual first night supermarket run so I go down to Roaring Forks to find myself something and buy a chocolate croissant and fill up my mug with juice. Theres a cast member flitting around the room greeting people and keeping an eye that all is above board, guess it would be kind of easy to sneak out with an extra apple or something with the way the room is laid out. He spots my Just Married badge and comes over to say congratulations and asks where my husband is? I say hes back in our room and the guy yells out to the whole place that my new husband has sent me down alone to get breakfast on my honeymoon and then gets everyone to cheer and clap that we just got married so I could tell Scott hed missed out! When I get to the room Scott is glad to have missed it all, he hates that kind of attention!
We decide to drive to the branch of Dollar on I-Drive to see if they can help before traipsing all the way back to the airport (and paying even more tolls) so we set off. Weve not been down I-Drive for a few years so plenty has changed, although of course, there are still the old and familiar places too. We get to Dollar and are told they cant help us and we need to go to the airport, great, thats gonna waste a few hours. So we set off and eventually get the car changed to another Dodge Charger, this time in black.
As were off site anyway, I suggest to Scott that we stop in to the large scrapbooking warehouse I want to visit thats at a distant end of the 192. Scotts not exactly thrilled by the prospect but goes along with it as Ill only keep bugging him so at least itll be done! I hit the place and its like being a kid in a candy store, I could have bought the whole place. As it is I limit my purchases and end up spending only a little over $100 oops!
Heading back along the 192 we spot a Dennys and go for some grub. Turns out this is a bit more of a locals place than wed normally frequent, still its a darn sight more touristy than the one we ended up at in the middle of the desert last year! We order some cheese sticks and fries; I think Scott may have ordered some chicken too. The food is good and we enjoy it before setting of back to the Lodge.
The sun is shining so once weve got the car back to the hotel we decide to board the boat over to the Magic Kingdom. We end up with our own private transportation as were the only ones waiting. The journey is very peaceful and we have a good time taking some pics.
However as we near the park, clouds are gathering and, just as we arrive at the dock, the heavens weep.
We run under some shelter and wait for it to settle down before dashing across to the ticket gates and entering the park.
As its still wet we head for Adventureland, at least that area is supposed to feel like a rainforest! We do some of the rides, making our way clockwise around the park and into Fantasyland. I decide Im doing Dumbo as the wet weather has created some very short queues rarely seen in the Magic Kingdom.
I also try on some comedy headgear in honour of our best man!
Last ride for today is the carrousel which Scott joins me on.
We have to leave early as tonight is a MNSSHP night and guests are already starting to flood in. Walking back down main St we see some brilliant costumes, the most incredible of which had to be Edward Scissorhands, it was just so realistic! Before exiting we nip into the Emporium for a quick browse. I try on the veil ears, initially just to get a silly pic, but when else will I get to wear these so I end up buying them and wearing them for the rest of the trip.
We catch the boat back to the Lodge and get a nice surprise on entering our villa. Someone had set up some balloons on the table and attached is a white folder containing a signed print from Mickey and Minnie sending us their congratulations, what a wonderful touch.
Well we have no clue what we did at this point although I have an inkling we may have gone to Downtown Disney and got some dinner there, either way Im sure we had a good time!!!
