Me: Sophie (18/19) - 2nd Trip
Scott (30) - 7th Trip, My best friend and housemate
Linda (5?) Lost Count of Trips, Scotts Mum
Graham (5?) Lost Count of Trips, Scotts Dad
Our first full day in Florida and were up at 8.30am! We both shower and eat breakfast in the apartment (toast, cornflakes, orange juice and milk.) Linda and Graham are with us today so we all head off to the Mall at Millennia. We spend a good hour or so window shopping and have a good look around one of the gadget shops but no one buys anything. We drive over to Belz, now the Prime Outlets and the spending frenzy begins! I get TOT and IASW t-shirts, a salt and pepper shaker monorail and some scrapbooking stuff, Graham gets a WDW t-shirt to add to his stock pile! We decide to have lunch at the Premium Outlets so we head there next. The food court has plenty of variety; me and Scott share 1 slice of meat feast pizza, seasoned wedges and a coke (we barely finished it between us), Graham gets chilli fries and cheese whilst Linda opts for the slightly healthier battered chicken rice.
After dinner we all have a mooch around the shops, me and Scott both see some painfully cool Sketchers but decide to leave them for now to see how much money we have later in the trip. We head over to Publix which is next door to our resort to pick up some basics like water (24 bottles for taking around the parks) and more orange juice I drink litres of this stuff. I also get my yearly supply of Oreos, this year I choose the chocolate cream and Halloween special orange cream (Id just like to point out that Im writing this at the end of Jan and I still have half a packet of the choc cream ones left!!) I also pick up a scrapbooking magazine out of interest to see how it compares to the UK ones - $5.99!
We head back to Summer Bay from the supermarket and chill out there for a while. We decide to take a walk around the resort, to get some good home video and photos. We spot a turtle in the lake and then see it has its baby with it! The resort has an activity centre so we head in for a while. Scott and his dad have a game of pool which Scott just wins; Linda and I have a walk around while they play a find a skeleton in the hot tub!!! He is surrounded by rats and spiders obviously Summer Bay is ready for Halloween! We have a look around one of the open houses at the resort its incredible but way beyond our price range so well be sticking with the apartment for now! On our way back to the room I stop by the gift shop and grab a resort t-shirt.
(Our apartment is the one downstairs right by the right edge of the pic - you can see a garden chair on the patio.)
Graham decided to go for a lie down whilst Linda reads so me and Scott go down to the pool. Scott lies on a sun longer whilst I do a few laps. Back in the apartment we get ready to go out for the evening. The TV is on and we are all soon entranced by an appalling film called Frankenfish I doubt I need to tell you the plotline. Tearing ourselves away from the wonders of US TV we drive down to the Bennigans near Kissimmees Old Town in the pouring rain. We dive into the restaurant and are seated immediately. I get the breaded chicken tenderloins, Scott has 3 steak medallions with garlic and herb marinade, Linda gets a chicken stir fry whilst Graham opts for a sirloin steak with a baked potato and coleslaw. The food is absolutely incredible and afterwards we share 2 brownie pies (large brownie, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and a cherry) between the 4 of us.
Eventually we head back to Summer Bay where we all go out and sit on the patio listening to the crickets. Me and Graham go for a walk by the lake looking at the amazing star filled sky and discuss the universe. When we get back me and Scott decide to change our plans for the following day from a day at Tampa Beach to the Magic Kingdom before heading to bed.
