Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. It's frosty and cold at 14, but warming up to about 41. I'll take it.
Organized a few totes in the cellar yesterday and gathered more trash to put out. Eventually I'll get all of it out of there.

One outside cat was missing this morning, I'm going to look under the porch to see if she's under there as soon as it warms up just a bit.
I tried calling and texting Summer all day yesterday to ask her something but got no answer. I messaged Lily and asked her to pass along the message to call me, but I don't know if she did. It was 3 when I messaged her, but she told me Summer was still asleep. I don't know if she had a flare up or what's going on.

Going to take the trash down to the street and then make some breakfast. Have a good day

The birds here were all sitting in the bushes waiting for me. I could hear their chirping start as soon as they heard me scattering stale bread and filling the feeders. It's been too cold to even try putting water out for them.

I could hear a cardinal out front but they haven't shown for the food yet.

Good morning. It is 29 here now with temps heading to the lower 40s. I like hearing about the bird and feeding them. I really miss feeding the birds and all the kinds that we had show up. We had a pair of cardinals, chickadees, blue jays, sparrows, wrens, and also some turkeys to get what was on the ground. Here I don't have many cardinals or blue jays. I do occasionally see one but not often. It is mainly sparrows and wrens. We can't really feed birds here as it attracts mice and in the warmer weather we do have a bear or 2. The condo meeting stayed mostly respectful with a few voices raised here and there. Then at the end of the meeting one of the trustees told the meeting group that a group of 16 met secretly and is putting a divide in the community. She said meetings like that are not allowed. She went on for a while. I understand they are not happy about people disagreeing with the trustees but it is part of an HOA. People do have the right to gather and talk and present other ideas. The group as far as I know are not dividing the community but trying to find a middle ground for all. I will give everyone credit in that they are willing to work together. But at the end of the day we do have our basic rights to freedom of speech and freedom to gather. I suspect it will all work out but it will be a work in progress. I am staying neutral as both sides have good points. At my last condo complex no one liked the trustees or the management company and they were very vocal about it. We are not at that point at least not now. I want to leave Junior High behind. I feel like I am not in my ideal living situation, the condo itself is nice . I may just need to make the best of it.

Have a good day.

Good morning! Our 12 year old Houston grandson did make the baseball team. He had been a bit concerned when we were there, but yesterday he learned he’s in, and is very happy.

Our trip ended on a sour note. Our luggage was unloaded in PHL, and we waited and waited. After 1/1/2 hours the announcement came that they would deliver the luggage, apparently it went to the wrong terminal! Then after filling out the forms, we were 1/2 way home when we got the call that since we live over 50 miles from PHL, they will FED EX the luggage and we will get them on Wednesday…that’s today, and we do hope we get them!

We began writing Christmas cards yesterday, and should finish writing them today. We are behind decorating and I have a feeling much just won’t get done this year. I have to think it’s OK. We are heading to Boston for a very quick visit next week, and arrive home the 23th, which leaves the 24th for the last minute food preparation, and then Mass in the evening.

We got 4 very lovely Thank you cards from the Coast Guards we hosted for Thanksgiving. Once it’s the New Year I will text each of them to see if they are pleased with their duty station. They all seemed to be happy with where they would be going.

Bonnie has survived her first stay in the kennel, and she’s back to her routine in our home!

Enjoy the day!

Good morning. For the first time in weeks, we stayed above freezing overnight, it's 39 now going to 52. Same temps tomorrow, but calling for a chance of rain.

Summer finally called me yesterday after being MIA for 2 days She wasn't feeling good but had to go to court for something. Not the way she wanted it to go, it's going to a hearing on Jan 15. She's not in big trouble, just a glitch in the system Walmart uses for their Spark drivers. All of her delivery orders from one certain date have disappeared off the app, and Walmart is claiming theft of items. She has a police officer who was witness to a phone conversation between her and Spark, where they admitted glitches in their system that day. So hoping that Walmart drops the case before Jan. They can't prove any wrong doing, but wanted her to plead guilty to one charge, and she refused. Not pleading guilty for something she didn't do. She really has no luck when it comes to anything!

Heading to the market in a little while. Sun just rising now, still a bit dark out.

Have a good day.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. I'm expecting a couple of deliveries today and my dad at home, is too. Praying for continuing recovery and to re-connect with a friend this Christmas. Reminder, dear Quacker family, don't wait to tell someone you love and care about that you do. Let them do likewise for you. Bond of friendship is a blessing. All of you are :)

I'm still ordering gifts off Amazon. Also from Fanatics which I wasn't crazy about.

This morning DD allowed me to buy her some slippers and last night she okayed another item. Not too many surprises go over well with her, as she will just take an item, say thank you and let it sit in her closet if she doesn't really want it.

Sometimes something simple will make her happy. I picked up a 'welcome' pillow at Costco Savannah that she loves. How do I know she loves it? It has a place of honor in her room. It was a 10.99 item. Also she loved the snowmen I got for the front yard as she showed enthusiasm in setting them up.

My tree is up but not decorated. Not a problem as sometimes we do it Xmas eve. It will stay up through epiphany. I light it each morning for coffee and breakfast in it's dimmer white lights and once my living room is filled with light I change it to the colored light option. My Hoop de do ornament is hanging on it in it's red bag and I may add the birds I bought today as they are breakable and are hanging around in a blue Disney bag in little paper boxes.

Temp here is increasing substantially so I may go out today to pick up some batteries I need - car clicker in particular. Or scratch - I need to just add them to my Amazon order - they will come tomorrow.

Dog has peed twice yesterday despite being taken out. I stepped in it once on bare foot on bare floor. Then found it on the washable runner so no big harm. Ordered him bed #4 off the kind he likes so I'm cleaning one almost daily. They take a bit to get dry. I hang them next to the dehumidifier so about a day as they are fairly thick.

I tend to do that as well.

Kitty had his first vet visit this morning, and seems to be doing well. He was nervous getting there, but bravely got his rabies vaccine and is back to normal now that we're home. She suspects the "boo boo" on his tail is just a cyst that had previously burst and formed a little bump.

Good day everyone, hope your weeks are going well. Enjoying the bird talk, especially given that my brother is in the office next to me wrapping two of those Bird Buddy bird feeder camera things. One for my Mother & one for his wife!

I pray to have a floor install update later.

Any update? Hopefully they can get them installed sooner rather than later and you have a date soon.
We began writing Christmas cards yesterday
I'm still working on mine, which isn't to good considering I've had them on my desk since Thanksgiving!
She really has no luck when it comes to anything!
Wow - she really doesn't, does she? I hope she can catch a break soon.
I'm still ordering gifts off Amazon
I'm afraid I'm guilty of that as well, order a few things myself this morning. I already know I need to go out on Sunday, but by ordering these things from Amazon today it will significantly shorten my day Sunday that's for sure!
Kitty had his first vet visit this morning, and seems to be doing well.
Glad that went well!
Luggage was just delivered!
Good to hear, I'm sure you guys are relieved to have it back in hand.

Busy week in the office here, dealing with some pressing employee issues which *hopefully* have been resolved as of this afternoon, which is good. I am all the sudden realizing that Christmas is next week - I mean, of course I knew it was next week but now all the sudden it's next week. I need to fine tune my grocery list and order my groceries, finish my shopping on Sunday (starting to seriously consider cutting out on Friday and doing it then) and gotta start wrapping. And do a deep clean of the house. All the sudden I feel out of time to get it all done. Of course, it does all get done.

Trying a new seasoning/pork chop recipe in the crock pot today - took thick cut pork chops with this seasoning and finely chopped apples. We will see how it goes, not sure what I'll serve it with - salad and/or some rice maybe? I won't get home till 6ish so I guess we will see when I get home.

Hug dear Bobbi. I'm so grateful you got your luggage and especially needed machine!

The new flooring company has been wonderful. The hold up has been with the owner of our building. Dad and I feel he has perhaps been stalling committing to print his agreement to pay X amount of the cost. Sonia, our management contact, left my dad yet another message earlier today indicating maybe, finally, things are inching ahead. We need official approval regardless of what the owner pays to go forward.

We were praying to get this done before Christmas. Now, most likely, that won't happen until January. God-willing, we will know more tomorrow.

Dad prayers extra health-wise. He has a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Please pray I get more sleep tonight and that my roommate is quieter and calmer tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will also be looking into a roommate change with someone who should be much more compatible. The move would benefit this person to go from a three bed room to a two bed room. It would also be a benefit to my current roommate to be literally feet away from the nursing station. Keep a good thought and I will update.

Sweet dreams to all and thank you especially for your prayers for my dad.

Mona I hope everything works out for the best for you and your father.

Bobbiwoz Gad you have your luggage and cpap machine.

Good morning. It is 30 here now with temps heading to the mid 40s. A nice day before the heavy rains and wind come in. I am supposed to have lunch with my MA friend tomorrow but I don't drive out in heavy rain and wind especially the highway. We may have to reschedule. I took a few hours off work yesterday for a bit of a mental health day. I found out that Market Basket at 8:30 on the morning is the time to shop so when I am retired that will be my time. I asked my friend about retirement and she said if you don't want to work any more and find it hard to get motived then it is time. So, I know it is time! Jeff and I will work on the spreadsheet and update the numbers. I know I can do it financially and Jeff agrees. 2026 will be a year of decisions.

I went to find minicupcake liners for mini muffins in my cabinet but they were for Easter not Christmas! Thankfully Amazon has some that can be delivered by Sunday. I will be making the muffins Tuesday. Glad I looked! I also found 2 gifts in a box that I had not wrapped yet. I have everything for Christmas in my walkin closet so it is not so much a walkin closet as a watch where you walk closet.

Have a good day.

Good morning. Another night above freezing. Going to be 52 with rain this afternoon. High wind warnings for tomorrow. My friend in CO had bad winds yesterday with a couple of gusts near 80. Their elec co had warned everyone that they might be proactive and shut off elec midday and leave it off until this morning, but fortunately that didn't happen.

Walmart was a madhouse even in the early morning hours. And it was so hot in there I was literally sweating when we walked outside. Summer went with me. I had enough points at Martins for a free ham, so we got it and I gave it to her for her Xmas dinner.
Gracie has an interview with the same place Don worked at , and where Lily is a temp until she's had her license for another 5 months. I don't understand why they would even interview Gracie, since she's 17, doesn't have a license or a car and can't drive to work at consumers houses.

Summer was spending money yesterday like it was going out of style. For someone who can't pay her bills until shut off's loom, I don't get it. She even paid me back the $100 she's owed me for quite awhile, without me asking for it. Now she has to get new tires for the new car. She has 2 that keep giving a low pressure warning and she has to put air in almost every day. I told her to have them checked first, maybe it's just bad valve stems that can be fixed by unmounting the tires and putting new ones in. It can't hurt her to ask the garage.

I don't plan on going near a store until at least the Monday after Christmas. I have everything I need, and I have a Dollar General in less than a mile if I really need something. I have my meals planned for the next 7 days, plenty of canned cat food (probably more than Walmart has on their shelves), dry food and litter. I had 2 huge Chewy orders delivered Tues and yesterday. Both were dumped on the front porch on their side, resulting in crushed cans, leaking cat food, and Chewy having to replace parts of 2 orders.
I have one Amazon order coming today and one tomorrow, and that's the end of it.

Not sure if I'm going to get into much today. My neck is almost better, but I don't want to push my luck.

Survivor finale was good last night, not happy with who won though.

Have a good day

Enjoyed all your posts. Glad everyone’s getting done what they need to get done. ☺️

Lynn I cannot believe the *new* car needs tires. :faint: I had that problem once in my minivan when kids were little and it is a major pain to put air in every day. My tires were relatively new and bought at Sears, but they couldn’t fix them, even w new stems. I got so frustrated by it I wound up trading the van in, and later I regretted that decision, but it was what it was. These days I have a handheld air compressor (from Amazon) I keep in my glove box for when I need air as it’s hard to find an old fashioned air dispenser anymore and I hate doing it anyway.

I’m actually in pretty good shape for once as far as the holiday goes. Cards went out on Monday. Gifts are wrapped and tree’s been up. (DD put her tree up but liked it just w lights and no ornaments, decided to keep it that way, it looks nice!) We just have our Yankee Swap gifts to wrap and one more card that I forgot, and we’ll be done. I’ll just have to shop for the food we’re bringing on XMas Eve. Got most of what we’re cooking ourselves for Christmas Day at home.

Worried about Toto. I think I mentioned he’s being treated for tick disease. But he’s still limping on one of his rear legs pretty bad. Vet says we probably need to do XRays, but I’m reading online that it can take a full three to four weeks of antibiotics for the limping to go away. So not sure whether to stall on that or go ahead. She did give him some more of the NSAID to help w his pain. I came home late last night from a visit w my sister, close to midnight. He heard the music in my car in the driveway and all I could see was his little head trying to peek out the window to see me, by standing on the back of the sofa. I love that little guy so much! :lovestruc His face when I was going out was one of big disappointment.

Busy w appts. Saw my oncologist yesterday. Long visit in prep for this new med I have to start. She wants to wait a little while longer for my lungs to heal after radiation as this can cause an inflammation of the lung too. Going to be working one on one w a pharmacist who’ll be managing the med itself with me, monitoring labs and dosing, have to start low and move up, etc. So gearing myself up for that. We went over a long list of side effects. Hoping mine will be minimal. The good news is that studies out recently have shown good results for deceased risk of recurrence and improved overall survival. So I have to get psyched up about it. DS who is still out on injury from work saw a great doctor yesterday who had things figured out and was able to prescribe a course of treatment that should help him. Rather brilliant, really, so I was very thankful about that. In a roundabout way it will help DS in more ways than one so I think things often do happen for a reason. 🙏

Have to head out to another appt this morning, with DH. Have a good Thursday, everyone! 🐥🎄

Pea Glad you are going into the holidays feeling better and able to enjoy everything. You have been busy. I hope the new medications works well without big side effects. So nice that you have a pharmacist working with you. Also hope your DS gets the treatment he needs. It sound like he has found a smart doctor. I need to get a handheld air inflator. Another online trip to Amazon!

Lynn I have to go to stores over the weekend very early in the AM and that is it until after Christmas. Summer really needs to get the tires checked. You are right it could be the valve stems. Strange that the newer car would have the issue but you never know.
