Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Cupcakes and flower from two different lovely people here. All my thanks and love to all of you always. Dad left about half an hour ago which was hard. He said he felt mixed emotions leaving me. A dear friend here said this morning that she was both glad and not that I am still here. That summed up how dad and I feel too.

I truly am so blessed and grateful. A kind young CNA, I, took a picture of dad and I. He did a great job and I was able to surprise him by wishing him a happy early birthday. I's birthday (on the employee birthday calendar that is hung up in a hallway) is near the end of this month. He will be leaving this facility for another one owned by the same people at the end of the week so it was perfect getting to wish him happy birthday today.

Good evening joy to all.

Thank you both dear Dazed and dear Judique!

Dad gave me an interesting update when we talked on the phone a little while ago. He said no sooner did he walk in our apartment than the phone rang. It was Sonia calling to ask dad if two maintenance men could come by tomorrow morning to look at our floor. A definite positive and quick first step that's an extra gift to us both. God willing I will be able to share that we are going to get new floors. That would be such a blessing :)

@flyingdumbo127 So glad you had some nice birthday surprises from some very kind people. And nice that you had a wonderful picture taken of you and your Dad. The maintenance men coming over is a good sign. I hope you get your floor replaced.

Pea Thinking of you.

Taz Hope all is going well with your Dad and family.

Good morning. Another sunny day with temp around 50 right now. Temps will be going up to near 70 today. Unfortunately the next several days have rain forecast for at least some of the day. I walked at the lake yesterday and hope to go again today as it will be awhile before I will get back. I enjoy the peace and the birds calling. Now I am looking forward to my cruise. I so need some time away from reality to rest and recharge. I usually travel Mother's Day week so it is strange to be here working but the trip my NH friend and I wanted to do involved Nova Scotia and the cruise is in June.

Have a good day.

I envy you the June trip! I would love to be there late June!

It's pouring here right now, and I'm delaying driving to my son's house until it gets lighter and the traffic slows a bit.

Last night I forgot to lower my big umbrella and it is hanging over the side of my deck. I had it in the tilted position and with all my angst yesterday, I forgot about it. So even though it's in the heavy stone base from Costco, the wind took it. Hopefully it's not damaged. Doesn't look to be but it's too wet to rescue right this minute.

Yesterday I had to take my youngest (age 12) cat to see the Vet. This is never good, but usually reasonable when it's routine. This visit was because he started limping and was in pain. I was afraid of a fracture but xrays showed arthritis/degenerative joint disease. He's hid it well up to now. According to the printed sheet I was given 90% of cats this age have this condition.

He got some very good painkillers (an opioid) and a 90 day shot. He's resting more comfortably. Next month we will see whether he can tolerate living longer or whether he needs mercy for his condition. Doc was not optimistic and knows I would not want him suffering. Doc saved him for me when he was young and I took him home when he was abandoned and needed multiple procedures to keep him alive. He reduced costs then to about half, but yesterday we paid fully. It's not cheap. On the other hand some people don't get the medical care that my four animals enjoy. (I work a bit on that also in small ways.)

Meanwhile my tomatoes are growing well, and I've planted some large pots full of flowers. One is full of the Easter pot from Costco. Spread out it continues to do beautifully. Each time I went in the store after I replanted it, I would see the remaining pots slowly dying from lack of pot space and nutrients. None reduced and then they weren't there anymore. Waste of beauty.

I'd also brought home a hanging geranium planter. Kept it as it was for a couple of weeks and then replanted it into 4 large pots, making 2 red and 2 pink. They are filling up the big pots already. Some sprigs broke off and I stuck them in water. Yesterday noticed they already all had roots so added them to the existing pots. Hope I accidentally got the colors right as I forgot to mark them!

My next planting will be to make smaller hanging pots out of the sprigs (or cuttings). Fresh earth and fertilizer does wonders for these easy to grow plants. Meanwhile I haven't yet picked up the weeping willow I've decided to plant in the back. I had the kids swing set moved and I've marked the spot. Neighbor will dig the hole. Got to get moving on that but son gets 2 days a week this week and until end of June. Less time for me and Camp Grandma starts soon for the older girls.

Thank you dear Snowysmom. Please stay warm and well. May you get back to your lake walks soon. Your big cruise is coming up. I'm so glad about that. You and your friend as Pooh would say will have a grand adventure :)

I really did enjoy such a nice birthday. Dad just being here was a precious gift. He brought me a nice card and gift. I enjoyed opening saved cards and a gift from friends that had come in the mail. Truly so many kind people here helped brighten my day, too.

Dad and I are very hopeful about getting new floors. Dad is going to show the maintenance men who come a couple spots where our current floor sinks. God willing, I will have a new floor ahead update to share later today.

Just caring hugs dear Judique. Cat prayers indeed, my friend.

Was I ever blessed by God to have slept 5 hours straight! I will do my best to put in extra exercise energy and in however a tiny way I may, spread some extra smiles too.

Happy Tuesday, dear friends. I will check back in a little later.

Good rainy morning. Lightly right now, downpours at other times. We're under a flood watch until 6 am tomorrow, 1-2" of rain expected. I went out at 1 am and moved all the pots of flowers so they wouldn't get drowned. I couldn't fall asleep, it was after 3:30, and woke up at 7:30, so I'm tired already, lol.

Summer is in TN, she drove 5 hours to do inspections for her job, stayed overnight at a hotel, finishing the inspections today and driving home late tonight. One of these times she's going to get stuck with car issues and be sorry she's taking these long trips.

Have a nice day everyone.

It's still raining and we've had between 2 1/2 and 3" so far. Supposed to end around 7:30, but now there are river flood warnings until tomorrow. I kept getting alerts on my phone about streets in WV (no idea why), saying they were evacuating whole neighborhoods. I haven't seen this much rain at one time here in years.

Prayers for folks in WV and always for you as well dear Lynn you know that.

Someone did come measure our floors this morning. Dad and I God willing tomorrow or by Thursday will hear back from Sonia that we will get new floors. We are grateful this first important step has now happened. God willing more of a positive floor update to come tomorrow.

I do like the pink shoes I got on Amazon. A direct link is not coming up, so here is a description of them. I was able to show them to one of my therapists here who gave them a thumbs up. I will have to carefully and slowly get used to wearing shoes again..what a blessing though to be able to do :)

Looks like Westernport took it on the chin, school my husband went to got evacuated.

Lynn I hope the rain stops soon. It is scary how much rain can really impact areas.

Mona Hope you get new floors soon.

Good morning. It is cloudy here now with temp at 49 and going into the low 70s today. The next 4 days have rain forecast but nothing like in the south and mid atlantic regions. I did walk at the lake yesterday and enjoyed the quiet and the occasional bird calls. Today I am looking for new shoes at DSW and going to Dollar tree for some wrapping items. Today is Luke's birthday. He is turning 8. I remember Chris and I had just gotten back from Disney, our great trip at Grand Floridian, and Luke was born the next morning at 6:15 am after only 3 hours of labor for Aimee. He was in a hurry to get here but he waited until we were home. He is now a sweet, kind, funny, and sensitive boy.

Have a good day.

Good morning. We are getting rain all week. In some ways I am glad as they are repaving our streets and they can't work in the rain. I won't be able to get out of the driveway and since they are paving all the streets in my area I would have to park several blocks away. I'm not comfortable doing that for many reasons.

Work on the basement continues but the plumber that ruined the rough-in for the bathroom set us back a couple of weeks and the roadwork has set back delivery of the appliances as we need one more dumpster. Everything needs to be off the street M-F and there is no guarantee when they are paving. It has been a long renovation and a little more money than I planned on but less than if I hired a professional contractor. They wanted $50 thousand or more.

Dad is doing well and is up and walking to an extent. We are trying to rehome my mom's piano and that has been frustrating. So far no less than 4 people planned to pick it up and never showed. They need it gone so dad can start working on the steps to the second floor. The physical therapist is worried he could take a tumble and hit it. They want to get a stair lift but again the piano is in the way. Mom would love to give it to Mikey but there is no room at his house right now. Mikey can hear a piece of music and start playing it without reading music.

Anthony had his Jr. Prom and looked so handsome. He said he had a good time. Getting that out of him was hard as he isn't very talkative.

My kitten is insane. He gets into the oddest things at times.

Not much else going on around here. Dr.'s appointments to set up the surgery on Jim's toe next month and finishing up the basement. I'll be glad when both are done.

Good morning. For now, the rain has stopped. I saw a ton of video's on FB last night about the torrential rains. Pictures of the roads I travel all the time going to the market and to do errands, nothing but walls of mud flowing down the roads. Trailer parks washed out, cars in parking lots literally floating. It was a mess.
The streets are just wet here, and the storm drains are starting to recede, but they are calling for another chance of rain this afternoon.

Going to do errands, taking the highway and not the back road I usually use to get there. Not running into all that mud.

Have a good day

I guess the Potomac needed some more water. Sorry for the mess up your way and in WVa. Hope no one has lost a life. Just completed a walk around outside and emptied water out of flower pots, my firepit and other stuff. Mosquitos only take a few days to get crazy after rain combined with heat. I'm going to Lowe's a bit later to grab some spray so I can treat my yard, patio and deck areas as well as any puddles along the road area. Probably have to redo the ant granules as well as everything is washed away.

Last evening I picked up a few things at Aldi, including a coated veggie tower for my tomatoes. It seems to work well so going back to snag some more if they are still available. May have to check a few Aldi's to get the amount I want. My old galvanized ones are getting cruddy so time for an upgrade.
