@flyingdumbo127 So glad you had some nice birthday surprises from some very kind people. And nice that you had a wonderful picture taken of you and your Dad. The maintenance men coming over is a good sign. I hope you get your floor replaced.
Pea Thinking of you.
Taz Hope all is going well with your Dad and family.
Good morning. Another sunny day with temp around 50 right now. Temps will be going up to near 70 today. Unfortunately the next several days have rain forecast for at least some of the day. I walked at the lake yesterday and hope to go again today as it will be awhile before I will get back. I enjoy the peace and the birds calling. Now I am looking forward to my cruise. I so need some time away from reality to rest and recharge. I usually travel Mother's Day week so it is strange to be here working but the trip my NH friend and I wanted to do involved Nova Scotia and the cruise is in June.
Have a good day.
I envy you the June trip! I would love to be there late June!
It's pouring here right now, and I'm delaying driving to my son's house until it gets lighter and the traffic slows a bit.
Last night I forgot to lower my big umbrella and it is hanging over the side of my deck. I had it in the tilted position and with all my angst yesterday, I forgot about it. So even though it's in the heavy stone base from Costco, the wind took it. Hopefully it's not damaged. Doesn't look to be but it's too wet to rescue right this minute.
Yesterday I had to take my youngest (age 12) cat to see the Vet. This is never good, but usually reasonable when it's routine. This visit was because he started limping and was in pain. I was afraid of a fracture but xrays showed arthritis/degenerative joint disease. He's hid it well up to now. According to the printed sheet I was given 90% of cats this age have this condition.
He got some very good painkillers (an opioid) and a 90 day shot. He's resting more comfortably. Next month we will see whether he can tolerate living longer or whether he needs mercy for his condition. Doc was not optimistic and knows I would not want him suffering. Doc saved him for me when he was young and I took him home when he was abandoned and needed multiple procedures to keep him alive. He reduced costs then to about half, but yesterday we paid fully. It's not cheap. On the other hand some people don't get the medical care that my four animals enjoy. (I work a bit on that also in small ways.)
Meanwhile my tomatoes are growing well, and I've planted some large pots full of flowers. One is full of the Easter pot from Costco. Spread out it continues to do beautifully. Each time I went in the store after I replanted it, I would see the remaining pots slowly dying from lack of pot space and nutrients. None reduced and then they weren't there anymore. Waste of beauty.
I'd also brought home a hanging geranium planter. Kept it as it was for a couple of weeks and then replanted it into 4 large pots, making 2 red and 2 pink. They are filling up the big pots already. Some sprigs broke off and I stuck them in water. Yesterday noticed they already all had roots so added them to the existing pots. Hope I accidentally got the colors right as I forgot to mark them!
My next planting will be to make smaller hanging pots out of the sprigs (or cuttings). Fresh earth and fertilizer does wonders for these easy to grow plants. Meanwhile I haven't yet picked up the weeping willow I've decided to plant in the back. I had the kids swing set moved and I've marked the spot. Neighbor will dig the hole. Got to get moving on that but son gets 2 days a week this week and until end of June. Less time for me and Camp Grandma starts soon for the older girls.
