@dazedx3 Maine is beautiful and hopefully will be colorful when you arrive. Wishing you and your family the best.

@flyingdumbo127 Chris and I have been to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Acadia national parks. Yosemite just looks so lovely. I can't imagine traveling to any others without Chris.

My magic band has made some progress. Notes dated last night say that it should arrive on time. It has gone up a level in delivery status. I am entirely too involved in this. Maybe if I ignore it the band will be delivered.

Time for my lunchtime walk. The sun is out and it is 70 out.
As soon as you stop thinking about it, it will appear!

Cold and windy outside. 64 degrees. Sky is sunny on one side, and black on the other. Dave (handyman) and his brother were here exactly at 11. Took him about an hour or so to put them all on. I refused to let Dave climb the ladder to help him. Wasn't taking any chances with his neck, since it's not all healed yet. We spent another half hour talking before they left. He didn't want to charge me anything, since he considered it part of putting the gutters up.

Summer (stepdaughter)'s colonoscopy was supposed to be yesterday, but she can't drink the stuff they gave her. They have tried 3 different ones, and they all make her vomit when she tries. She has to call her Dr back and ask 'what next'?

Floor guy just texted me, that he had a minor health issue come up and can't make it today. Asked if Thurs or Fri would work. I told him either,,and that it's totally understandable. He thanked me 3x and said my understanding is really appreciated.

Anyone in the path of the hurricane if it hits, be safe!

:grouphug:Snowysmom and wow how truly awesome that you and Chris got to visit so many National Parks! I've only been to Yosemite, Redwoods National Park (possibly more like the Forest), Crater Lake in Oregon, and dad and I got to visit Multnomah Falls in WA State. Acadia has always seemed so very tranquil and beautiful, of course, as well, to me. From some books. Mt. Rainer and others in WA have, too. Not a traveler anymore. So blessed to have gotten to explore some. Praise God that you and Chris were, too, my friend!

:grouphug:Lynn and continuing prayers for Summer and also Dave. Always for you and Don!

Short break between church and yoga,

@dazedx3 , thanks for the location. I hope it is beautiful and calming.

My magic band has made some progress.
I also track packages to see where my things have traveled to without me.

Do any of you have a beach or shoreline picture that you personally took from a secluded area?
I have a lot.

Please give me your opinons on this--
Oh, Me! I have lots of opinions :scared: Ok, so in all seriousness....a few things. Number one, I was a 16 year old who did dumb things. Thank God there was no cell phone or social media usage in the 80's & early 90's is all I have to say about that. My folks let us have a bit of wine now and again and in all honesty I let one of my underage (as in under 21) sons have the occasional beer at home. I will say that we were fairly conservative parents in some ways - no Social Media, no computers/cell phones in their bedrooms, no going out on school nights, no girlfriends spending the night and if they had a girlfriend whose parents were gonna allow them to spend the night? No. Not happening. We let our kids do a LOT of things many other parents wouldn't have - but they were all travel/sport/adventure related things. We hammered home the "call us, no matter what time, no matter what's going on and we will come pick you up". My personal thoughts are there is no way I'd allow my 16 year old daughter to have her boyfriend live with her/us and I'd explain to her the need to keep the evidence of being a idiot off of social media. And then try to explain why it's not a good idea to be doing what she is doing...honestly though, it sounds as if the horse is out of the barn.
Some things kids should learn to get away with and keep secret and not get caught or hurt doing as part of growing up. We all did dumb things, some of us less or more than others.
think Lily's reasons for drinking at the party probably range everywhere from wanting to be like her friends to worrying about her mom. And I expect Summer has so much on her plate she doesn't want to fight a battle she's not even sure needs to be fought.

I think as the grandparents, your best bet is to tell Lily that whether she drinks or not is none of your business, but knowing she has safe transportation is important to you. I also think you can get away with talking to her about posting pics on social media. - Make it a little amusing like "even us old geezers know better than that".
EXCELLENTLY put, I agree 100%.
Man, Marty strongly resembles his father & grandfather doesn't he:P
This past Sunday we went to see DD’s wedding venue. It is different then any other wedding I have been to. It is set up into 4 rooms with couches and chairs in conversation areas. The decor is amazing, very eclectic. It kind of has a Speakeasy vibe.
That sounds pretty fun, I like the vibe! I think it's wonderful to have a new grandchild & a wedding in the near future to look forward to.
Summer (stepdaughter)'s colonoscopy was supposed to be yesterday, but she can't drink the stuff they gave her. They have tried 3 different ones, and they all make her vomit when she tries. She has to call her Dr back and ask 'what next'?
I don't know what it's called but I know they now have pill (but not just the OTC type pills you sometimes take w/ a prep, it's a RX pill) that they can give to folks who just can't keep that stuff down. It is god awful stuff.

Well, finally some movement on the foster dog front, he's been cleared to go to the dog opthomalogist to get the consult for his second set of cherry eye surgeries. I was able to get him in on Thursday (thought for sure I'd be waiting 6 weeks for an appt.!) so hopefully he will be a candidate for the surgery and we can get that scheduled. Optimally I'd love to have it done in the next 5 weeks but I'm not sure that is very likely. Once he gets this last bit of medical work done, and he recovers from it, he will be ready to be put up for adoption. Speaking of dogs, our two are going to the vet for what my husband calls a "undercarriage alignment" aka a good scrubbing, nails done, glands dealt with as well as getting topped off on needed shots - in this case a Rabies & a Cytopoint injection. Our big guy does not like it, not at all and he will be a handful to get in and out of there. He will be okay once he is there. And it will be the first time we've taken our newer dog, but I think she will do just fine.

I was actually chilly today. Hated to say it. It's time to buy some jeans for fall. I hate shopping for jeans, and I need to do it in person since stuff fits me so weird. Would you believe I bought two oxfords from Target this weekend...same size. One was to small, one was to large. Both have to go back. I can't figure it out sometimes!

Folks are about a hour south of Tampa and look to be set to ride out the storm, however it manifests itself. Their rental house should be fine, it's block and small and not on the water. The new house is set back from the water far enough, so the only real concern is the dock and the boats on the lift. Hopefully my father stays at the rental vs. the new house watching his dock, but knowing my father....

On the road tomorrow afternoon in Southern DE. On the road mid-day Thursday up in Northern DE at the doggy eye specialist.

On the road tomorrow afternoon in Southern DE.
We are probably, weather dependent, going to the Junction and Breakwater Trail.

Man, Marty strongly resembles his father & grandfather doesn't he
I have trouble seeing resemblances when so close but both Sarah and Andrew resemble Jack. We knew they could never get away with anything in Northeast because everyone knew who their father was. And after the second c-section, I got a little tired of hearing how much the babies looked like their father.

Good afternoon. Pleasant day here at least temperature wise.

I woke up with a horrible head cold or sinus infection. Low grade temperature, a naggy little cough and losing my voice. Add to it I had to take Ben and Wyatt to school, Anthony was sick. Then it was off to meet my mom because her car is having issues. Took her home to pick up my dad and take them to the hospital for my dad's MRI. Took them home and stopped at 2 stores for a couple things I wanted to get. Got home for a half hour and had to pick up Anthony to take him to the pediatrician, just a head cold for him so far. Dropped him off at home and got Crystal because she still wasn't feeling 100%. Then off to get Wyatt and Ben and drop them off and finally grocery shopping.

After all that my middle daughter told me she was sent from work with COVID. Retested everyone and they all have Covid except for Ella. Since I wasn't feeling well, I did take a test and it was negative so hopefully it stays that way. To be safe I will wear a mask and isolate as much as I can, but I have an eye dr. appointment tomorrow (I think I will reschedule to be safe) and my dad needs to see the urologist on Friday. It took almost a month to get this appointment and my mom won't have her car back until late next week. I may test again Friday before I take them if I'm still not feeling well.

My dad's sister was supposed to come up for a visit this week. She was going to Pittsburgh first to meet friends and then getting dropped off in Carlisle, PA. That's about a 3-hour ride from here. She may not come up now because she lives in Florida about 20 minutes NW of Disney World. She doesn't want to leave her house, although my cousins did say they would look after it. I understand her feelings, but she is almost 85 years old. I would rather she came North and was safer. If she stays in Florida she will most likely go to my cousin's house. He has a much sturdier house with a couple of backup generators.

I am off to microwave a couple of pot pies for dinner. I'm not very hungry. I actually have been trying to lose a little weight and am down 10 pounds. I find that by having smaller meals and cutting out snacks after 7 PMI am not as hungry. Hopefully it will help with my BP too.

Hope you all have a nice evening and if you are in the path of the storm stay safe.

Thank you for kind caring toward all, dear Lynn, including Dave. Continuing prayers for Summer! ITA, and add my own extra prayers to anyone in the storm’s path. Please stay safe and take care.

Thanks so very much, Carol, for the two beautiful beach photos! I’ll let you know which one is used. Appreciate them both and always you.

Easyas, you are wonderful and wise parent! ITA that what matters most is always conveying to your child that you are a safety for them no matter what! Hug and extra thanks for continuing to give kind loving care to so many blessed dogs.

Oh no, Taz! Healing and feel better prayers all-around!

Near 90 here this afternoon. Feels warmer because I'm wearing those huge light fleece pajama pants. I really need to wear the lighter weight capri pajama pants instead! Dad just came home from 99 and Ralph's. Yes, he went back to Ralph's. He enjoys an evening small 🥗and forgot to get one this morning. Oh well. He also filled his car up with ⛽All is otherwise quiet here. Wishing all of you a great rest of the day.

We are staying in Harpswell, on Sebascodegan Island. It is about an hour north of Portland. I hope we will see some of the Fall colors.
I was just south of Portland all last week, and I was starting to see a little color. It should definitely be nice by the time you get there.

Do any of you have a beach or shoreline picture that you personally took from a secluded area?
Hit quote to ask for more details, but see that you already got some lovely ones!!

Evening, all.
@tazdev3225 Hoping for better things for y'all. Congrats on the weight loss!

@easyas123 Hope your dad stays safe!

Just wanted to check in before chaos starts tomorrow. The local news is predicting rain starting first thing in the morning, and the worst of it tomorrow night overnight. May not have power or internet to check in (and my phone does NOT like the dis...too many ads that bypass the adblocker for some reason), but will check in when I can. It's gonna be fine, right? :faint:

Have a good night, y'all!

Hello to all Quackers.

@tazdev3225 that is a lot of running around, I got tired just reading it, and I spend a fair amount of time in my car. Add not feeling well to all that, I bet you were glad to get home.

@Breezy_Carol very pretty pictures.

@easyas123 yeah for getting an appointment for the dog. Hopefully it will go well for him.

@Kirby I get the frustration on not being able to plan much. I'm worried about 2 weeks from now. I made plans moons ago for my daughter (way before my soon to be former husband told he wanted a divorce) and of course it falls on his weekend to have the kids. The way he's been acting with our daughter he will prob. not let her go or insist that he or his mommy take her. UGH. When I meet with my attorney Friday, we will be talking about wording in the final decree on how to handle situations like this (I mean we should know who has them when going forward, but for things like weddings or funerals that will inevitably pop up on both sides and will happen to fall on the "wrong" weekend for whoever wants them to attend the event). Hope that all made sense. And, I want to make sure we have summer dates set soon also, for this very reason. Planning for summer starts early here with camps and such and I don't want to be waiting until May to find out when he will have them.

@dazedx3 Im sorry to hear that Kris was unable to get his chemo. I hope it works out for him get it on the next try. I also am sorry that it sucks so much out of him that he isn't getting to enjoy quality life sometimes. I can only imagine the hard road you are on. I'm so glad you have Maine to look forward to. And great idea about watching the series at the rental house. Perfect for if the weather is icky or Kris just needs a break.

@Judique good to hear you had a lovely trip.

Not much really to report from this end. Kids go with their dad tomorrow night for 2 hours and then for the weekend. I have plans to meet a friend tomorrow night for supper. I really do need to keep myself busy. I then have to come home and make several pans of meatballs for the high school football team. Parents of the players and managers take turns feeding the team/managers/and coaches on Thursday nights. I'm not sure what possessed me to volunteer to make the main course. It will be fine and go fast, but 8 pans is a bunch. Thankfully I am able to cook them at a church so I can do them all at the same time then stick them in a roaster for transport.

Take care everyone.

B&B Stay safe and take care. Check in when you are able to.

Frog So sorry things continue to be challenging.

Dazed Sending good thoughts to you and wishes for a peaceful trip. I hope Kris can have his next treatment.

Tazdev What a busy day. I hope everyone feels better soon.

Waiting to walk. I go into the office today instead of tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a tough day so I would rather work from home or not work if I decide to take some time off. I will decide tomorrow depending on how I feel.

Have a good day.

@easyas123 Hope your dad stays safe!

Wind is picking up some.

Ian's a Cat 4 now, according to the morning news; almost a 5. 155mph winds.
It has it's arrow pointing to Fort Myers.
I really hope everyone's families stay safe!

Thanks!
Hind sight is always better, they probably should have left but as it is now they are hunkered down and as prepared as they can be. Good luck to you & your family as well, hope all make out with limited damage to their homes (and selves of course!)

Good morning everyone. Chilly 45 outside, but going to 63. Today is grocery day. I have to decide what to make for our anniversary dinner, and my birthday dinner. I am leaning towards shrimp alfredo for one, and spare ribs for the other, but have to see what they have in the stores (along with higher prices, I am sure).

I hope everyone in FL and any affected areas stay safe. Ian is picking up strength quickly from what I have read.
I took the trash down to the street, and watched as a few leaves blew off the trees and landed on the gutters, and just as quickly blew off. Small thing, but not having to clean them every week or 2 in the Spring and the Fall makes me excited, lol

@tazdev3225 I hope you and the rest of your family feel better soon!

@Snowysmom --as always, wishing you peace on the hard days. We are here to listen whenever you need us.
