Please give me your opinons on this--
Oh, Me! I have lots of opinions

Ok, so in all seriousness....a few things. Number one, I was a 16 year old who did dumb things. Thank God there was no cell phone or social media usage in the 80's & early 90's is all I have to say about that. My folks let us have a bit of wine now and again and in all honesty I let one of my underage (as in under 21) sons have the occasional beer at home. I will say that we were fairly conservative parents in some ways - no Social Media, no computers/cell phones in their bedrooms, no going out on school nights, no girlfriends spending the night and if they had a girlfriend whose parents were gonna allow them to spend the night? No. Not happening. We let our kids do a LOT of things many other parents wouldn't have - but they were all travel/sport/adventure related things. We hammered home the "call us, no matter what time, no matter what's going on and we will come pick you up". My personal thoughts are there is no way I'd allow my 16 year old daughter to have her boyfriend live with her/us and I'd explain to her the need to keep the evidence of being a idiot off of social media. And then try to explain why it's not a good idea to be doing what she is doing...honestly though, it sounds as if the horse is out of the barn.
Some things kids should learn to get away with and keep secret and not get caught or hurt doing as part of growing up. We all did dumb things, some of us less or more than others.
think Lily's reasons for drinking at the party probably range everywhere from wanting to be like her friends to worrying about her mom. And I expect Summer has so much on her plate she doesn't want to fight a battle she's not even sure needs to be fought.
I think as the grandparents, your best bet is to tell Lily that whether she drinks or not is none of your business, but knowing she has safe transportation is important to you. I also think you can get away with talking to her about posting pics on social media. - Make it a little amusing like "even us old geezers know better than that".
EXCELLENTLY put, I agree 100%.
Man, Marty
strongly resembles his father & grandfather doesn't he
This past Sunday we went to see DD’s wedding venue. It is different then any other wedding I have been to. It is set up into 4 rooms with couches and chairs in conversation areas. The decor is amazing, very eclectic. It kind of has a Speakeasy vibe.
That sounds pretty fun, I like the vibe! I think it's wonderful to have a new grandchild & a wedding in the near future to look forward to.
Summer (stepdaughter)'s colonoscopy was supposed to be yesterday, but she can't drink the stuff they gave her. They have tried 3 different ones, and they all make her vomit when she tries. She has to call her Dr back and ask 'what next'?
I don't know what it's called but I know they now have pill (but not just the OTC type pills you sometimes take w/ a prep, it's a RX pill) that they can give to folks who just can't keep that stuff down. It is god awful stuff.
Well, finally some movement on the foster dog front, he's been cleared to go to the dog opthomalogist to get the consult for his second set of cherry eye surgeries. I was able to get him in on Thursday (thought for sure I'd be waiting 6 weeks for an appt.!) so hopefully he will be a candidate for the surgery and we can get that scheduled. Optimally I'd love to have it done in the next 5 weeks but I'm not sure that is very likely. Once he gets this last bit of medical work done, and he recovers from it, he will be ready to be put up for adoption. Speaking of dogs, our two are going to the vet for what my husband calls a "undercarriage alignment" aka a good scrubbing, nails done, glands dealt with as well as getting topped off on needed shots - in this case a Rabies & a Cytopoint injection. Our big guy does not like it, not at all and he will be a handful to get in and out of there. He will be okay once he is there. And it will be the first time we've taken our newer dog, but I think she will do just fine.
I was actually chilly today. Hated to say it. It's time to buy some jeans for fall. I hate shopping for jeans, and I need to do it in person since stuff fits me so weird. Would you believe I bought two oxfords from Target this weekend...same size. One was to small, one was to large. Both have to go back. I can't figure it out sometimes!
Folks are about a hour south of Tampa and look to be set to ride out the storm, however it manifests itself. Their rental house should be fine, it's block and small and not on the water. The new house is set back from the water far enough, so the only real concern is the dock and the boats on the lift. Hopefully my father stays at the rental vs. the new house watching his dock, but knowing my father....
On the road tomorrow afternoon in Southern DE. On the road mid-day Thursday up in Northern DE at the doggy eye specialist.
