Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning.

When I went to the spine doctor last week, he didn't know why I was still having discomfort in my tailbone area. Decided to try a low dose Gabapentin at bedtime. Will take 2-3 weeks to be effective. But, the side affect of drowsiness kicked in right away. I have real trouble waking up in the morning. Time will tell. I go to PCP tomorrow for BP check and will talk to her.

A favorite Hymn of mine
I like that one too. We sing it in church sometimes.
was shocked to hear back from one already that will be donating a gift box.
Great job on your part!
her Mom got home from the hospital
So nice of you to help out.
@tazdev3225 I too have a park hopper pass. I will PM you and I hope we can find a good time. I will be going off by myself a bit. I know on Oct 18 we go to Epcot and I plan to do some alone time after they go back to the resort to the pool. That is the one day I have planned some alone time. I would really like to meet you.
I hope the two of you do meet. Be sure to take a picture.
I may change out my tires as well before my next longer trip.
DH got new tires before we took his car to Florida in August. He is trying to get tires for mine before we take my car to Sanibel, Florida in October. He likes his car better but mine has the hitch for the bike rack.
Survivor and Amazing Race starts tonight!!!
I am looking forward to them also.

DH and I are going to the library then to Longwood because it is a beautiful day to walk the meadow there.

I got home from errands about an hour ago. So disgusted with the stores. Prices up again, empty shelves again (pasta row, no dry pasta-french fries, case almost empty). No Great Value 1/2 gallons of either whole white, or chocolate milk. There isn't one thing I bought that hasn't gone up since last week. Most annoying to me was that a 12 pack of popcorn balls, was $5.98. Now come on, popcorn isn't that expensive. Mr L loves them, so I caved and got him a bag as part of his anniversary present. But it annoyed the heck out of me to do it.

Came home and put stuff away. Still no 'morning' newspaper at 1:30 in the afternoon. Called and left a message to have supervisor call me back, as we are just about ready to pull the plug and cancel it all together. Tried calling the carrier..got one of those 'number no longer in service' things.

Its warm out..83 so far and climbing. I am going to sit and watch Bachelorette finale from last night. I too can't wait for Survivor and Amazing Race to start tonight.

Have a nice afternoon all

Got home around 10 this morning and took a little nap. That cat stared at me for half the night but would never come over. 🙁 Learned this morning she was born feral, maybe that’s why she’s standoff-ish? She’s good with the family but lives on her own terms, apparently. SIL remained well but throat was sore this morning from the tube yesterday. (She is like a sister to me so I was glad to help out. She was able to sleep better knowing I was there.) DH is doing well, too, thanks for asking, Mona! Glad things are well with your Dad, too. Off to see if I can find the little bit of soup I left at home yesterday. I did resist the Pop Tarts all night 👍🏻 but it wasn’t easy, lol. Have a good day, all! 🐥

Lynn The prices are getting ridiculous. The farm stand still has fairly reasonable prices so I tend to buy produce there. Market Basket prices do not seem as bad as other places but for one person I am spending way more than I want.

@Pea-n-Me Glad your SIL is doing well. Also glad your DH is going well.

Thinking of Frog3101, dazedx3, and PollyannaMom.

I have the heating and cooling company here to do maintenance on the cooling, heating, and hot water heating systems. I just want to be sure everything is set for the winter. Plus when I sell I can say the system has been cared for. The woman who owned the condo before me also kept up with the maintenance. It seems strange for me to have to do this now. Chris always handled this and now it is up to me. I do find it hard to take over these tasks but it has to be done. I just bought a set of jumper cables for the car. Again, not my usual task, but I want to be sure. I will probably buy new tires in the Spring. These are original equipment so at about 20-25K I will swap them out for better quality tires. I will be driving to NH next summer so want good tires. Chris told me the brand he was looking at so I will take a look at those. He did not like the tires on the new car so he instantly started looking for replacements. My older DS has a good tire place he uses so I will probably go with them if I am living in that area in the Spring.

I am getting ready for the Disney trip in a bit over 3 weeks. The grandkids are excited. Oldest DGS is not excited about it but says he will go. He is very skittish about new adventures and for some reason thinks he has to go on all the rides even though we have told him he does not. He does not like the sound of fireworks either so when we go to the park for that he will stay at the resort with Dad. They can watch the fireworks from the beach of the Poly. Tazdev and I are discussing plans to meet. A picture will definitely be taken. I have never met anyone from Disboards before so it will be nice.

Have a good day.

🙏dear Carol! A trip to the library followed by Longwood meadows sounds absolutely wonderful! So glad you also enjoy that hymn.
Happy (early) Anniversary, to you and Mr. L, Lynn! :cheer2:Prices are outrageous and ITA about items disappearing from shelves both in store and online! I still wish Dollar Tree's website would become like any other and allow people to order one of a specific item. Even Dollar Tree (our Aquarelle Wipes) along with 99 are diminishing in supply. We keep being told this is due to a supply chain issue with delivery trucks not having enough workers and/or access. I'm sure in part this is sadly quite true. Prices, on the other hand, are just :scared1:

Enjoy every tasty Pop Tart bite, Pea! :grouphug:so thankful that your SIL and DH are both recuperating and doing better.

:grouphug:🙏 PollyannaMom. Very extra grateful to God to hear your son has been able to enjoy some food. Keeping all of you in much prayer.

:hug:Snowysmom, I'm so glad to hear the previous condo owner kept up with maintenance. That is so important indeed! God-willing should dad and I ever get to move, a building that is up to date all-around and maintained is a top priority! Aw, hug extra for your older DGS. Prayers he has a blast. I got to meet 8 or so years ago a really nice Disboard family. We camped out on a bench to reserve it for the Candlelight Processional that night. Fun to meet them. The next day, I briefly got to meet one other Dis-er as well. Meeting a fellow Quacker family member one day will mean so very much to me indeed because all of you do!

Have a good rest of the afternoon, friends.

Good evening.

It was a nice day at Longwood. We walked 3 miles. The meadows has a path around the perimeter that was about 2 miles then we walked the rest of the gardens.

Left over turkey in hot turkey sandwiches for dinner.

He does not like the sound of fireworks
Carter does not like loud noises either. His parents got noise protection headphones similar to these. They seem to help.
I have never met anyone from Disboards before so it will be nice.
I have met a number of people over the years. My first big meet was Riddlecon in 2003 at Cedar Point. I have friends from then I am still in touch with and still see in person.

Good night.

/
Good Morning. It is cloudy as far as I can see in the dark. We are expecting some rain early.

Carol My DS has similar headphones for DGS. He will probably bring them along. We are still thinking long distance viewing will be best for him. We will see how he is doing and make a call when we are there.

Off to work at home for a bit and then to the office.

Have a good day.

Good morning..Happy Fall! Rained again overnite, is sprinkling now. Calling for clearing and a high of 74 today, and a high of 63 for tomorrow!

Stepdaughter texted me late last night , that she got some results from the EKG but doesn't understand them (they were flagged). Something about it's hereditary and something about one of something being thickened and the other has to do with blood flow. She is waiting for her Dr to tell her what it means. She has a follow up with her orthopedic surgeon this morning and then a CT, so at least someone is doing something to find out the underlying cause for all her issues.

@frogl3101--for some reason it won't let me message you. If you see this, message me so I can reply please. All of our messages have disappeared, and when I put your name in to message you,,it shows your name, but won't put it in the address bar . Am hoping things are going better with you and the kids!

@PollyannaMom --Sending prayers that today is a better day for your son

Have a great morning all!

Hello all. Just a very quick stop in to say "hi". I will do my best to reply later tonight and actually right a bit. Nothing new here, same ol' same ol' mess and such. Meeting a friend for brunch this AM before work, so I'm am excited about that.
@lynxstch I just sent you a PM. Let me know if you get it.
Thinking of everyone on here, as I briefly skim it seems many still need some extra hugs and prayers.

Happy Friday Eve! :cutie:

Rained around 10:00 last night so I was glad I didn't have to worry about watering the flowers 🌧️. AC is officially off for the season. Had to turn it back on last week when it got back in the 90's. Looks like we'll be having fall weather now, so the windows will be opened 🥶.

Had to throw my nice bird feeder that I bought over the summer in the garbage (well Ds3 did). I noticed something laying on the side of the feeder and luckily Ds3 stopped over to grab his new work boots that I ordered. I had him go out and check, I did say that I think it was a bird. He called me from the backyard and said that somehow the bird flew through the side of the feeder and he can't get him out without the head detaching 😳. I told him to just throw the whole thing away. I felt so bad for that bird. He was probably stopping by for a little late night snack after a night of drinking and flew right into the plastic side. RIP chunky little bird 😢.

Watched Survivor last night. I record that and The Amazing Race but instead of watching the recording of The Amazing Race tonight, I stayed awake to watch it. I was so tired this morning 😵‍💫. I normally don't hit the snooze button but I did today. I really wanted to push it a second time but I made myself get up. Even the dog didn't jump up to the sound of the alarm 😴.

I tried some steel oats this morning for breakfast. I added a banana and some cocoa mix. It was horrible 🤢!!!! Threw the whole bowl in the garbage. I'll just stick to my eggs and dry toast in the mornings for work 🍳.

That's about it, have a great day! :flower:

Got it and replied. Thanks..now all of our messages are back where they belong!

Aww, that’s so sad about the bird, Jen! Poor thing!

Lynn, I can help explain that to you if you want.

Nice to see you, frog.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Not much going on today, I’m tired, too. I think it’s the change of seasons. Working, but off the weekend. It’s our anniversary so we’ll likely be going to dinner somewhere, will have to figure out where. Chilly and rainy here today, but usually we get at least a little bit of ‘Indian Summer’ for a while. We had an outdoor wedding and it was a beautiful fall day! Which reminds me, I have got to start putting out my fall decorations this weekend, too. SIL gave us a pretty outdoor plant, so that’s a start.

Have a good day, all! 🐥

Good morning.

Expecting rain here at some time today. I'm glad my daughters are off so they can get the grandkids.

Wyatt has a bruised muscle thankfully no breaks were apparent on the x-rays. Of course a hairline fracture doesn't always show up so my daughter will keep an eye on him. Ben just had allergies acting up. A covid test was negative. Z is able to go home at the end of the month. He can put minimal weight on the left leg and rehab is working with that. It will make things so much easier for all of them.

I signed up for Disney+ yesterday and am very glad that I did. I did the year subscription as I had read the prices are going up in a month or two. I am locked in at the price I paid. I don't know why I hesitated for so long. My husband and I are both enjoying what the Channel has to offer.

I have actually made some very good friends through these boards. Many years ago, when I first joined the boards, I did a trip report and a few people responded. One was ScottNY and through him I met Lazydoxy66, and a couple others that I honestly forget their names on the boards. Scott, Leslie and I had a dinner here in Philadelphia and we closed the place down. When Kristel (Lazydoxy66) went to NY for a weekend I took the train up and we all met. I had a great time. I have traveled to Disney with Kristel several times and Scott also. He now lives in Florida and works for Disney; we usually meet when I am down there. I also met a couple of other people while in Disney that I met on the boards, one was a huge Dis Meet. My husband is amazed as I am usually a bit shy around people I don't know.
And since no meet is complete without pictures
This is Scott, Leslie, Kristel and I in NY City

Here is the Dis Meet in December 2013, hard to believe it has been that long

Sadly some of these people have left the boards and mrsksomeday and her partner Bill have both passed away. I do have fond memories though.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Happy early anniversary! Mr L and I have our 22'nd coming up on Sept 30, so not too far from yours! We got married outdoors also. On the beach at sunrise in Myrtle Beach. Watched a beautiful sun come up over the ocean--2 of my favorite things in the world (along with sunsets!)

Have a good day, all! 🐥

Yes please! She just sent me another one that says she was reading more on her portal and it says --T"ricuspid regurgitation, interatrial septum is thickened and her fractional shortening is a little low."

I know what the tricuspid regurgitation is, but not any of the other stuff. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Happy Autumn, everyone!

I agree that days now seem shorter and as though it is later earlier. all is good and I give Him thanks in all. Dad is taking my :car: this morning to Nissan to have the low tire pressure light reset along with possibly an oil change depending on how long the other takes. Pre Covid, they always gave complimentary car washes. Disappointed to learn that this extra is no longer, oh well.

We're expecting two 📦via FedEx today one from Rite Aid and the other from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, of antibacterial wipes of all things. Dad used to get these pull-out wipes at the 99 cent Store. 99 like Dollar Tree and other places seem to have limited supply of most everything, especially wipes so he was grateful to have found the wipes for a little more on BB&B.

Just a whole lot of extra 🐥💛

Have a good day, friends. I'll check back later.

Hey y'all!

Happy early anniversary @lynxstch and @Pea-n-Me!

Hope your son is doing better @bobbiwoz and to @tazdev3225 hope your Wyatt is just bruised and heals up quickly.

@flyingdumbo127 Hope your packages arrive quickly.

@footballmouse poor birdie (and poor feeder!) I like steel cut oats, but can't have banana anymore, so I just use brown sugar and some cinnamon/nutmeg. (Seems the latex allergy is progressing, and has now made my tolerance for bananas very low; I had two bites of one while on vacation, and my mouth went itchy, so not risking any more).

It's been a rough week. DS has decided that he is ready to be an adult and make his own decisions, and moved to Illinois somewhere, with some person he became friends with through online video gaming over the past few years. :sad2: I understand wanting to be an adult, but I am floored he did this. Turns out, he went to visit them two weeks before we went on vacation (when we thought he was at a friends house here); he was doing so well on the CAD program, and DH had lined up a job interview for DS next week. All DS had to do was do a quick interview, and he had a guaranteed $15 an hour job for 6 months, then he could have been bumped to $20; with 401K and other benefits starting day one. He would have been able to transfer to Illinois to a company office there, and would have been set. Instead, he blows everything off; moves his desktop computer and monitor to a friend here; packed a suitcase and left. :confused3 I have no idea where he is, other than Illinois; he refuses to answer phone calls or texts from me or DH and won't tell us where he is. He agreed to let DD#2 know he's ok, once a week, and she has his address but only because she agreed to keep it to herself. He's an adult (turns 19 on Oct 1st), but he's still so naive and young, and this is breaking my heart. It's been a struggle just doing anything; I'm so worried about him. I haven't done much of anything the last week, but fret over DS.

So day before yesterday, DH said I need to get out of the funk. He was right, so I got my behind up, got the front yard mostly mowed and weedwacked (had to get more weedwacker string, so ordered it..Home Depot delivered it yesterday afternoon), and ordered some shirts for DH from Kohls.

I made 100 pumpkin whoopie pies w/cream cheese filling and toasted spiced pecans, for DH's company's bake-off today. I made the whoopie pie cookies and pecans yesterday, and got up early and did the filling and assembling this morning.

DH says that no one else brought enough to share with all the coworkers; there are about 10 other entries and they all brought only enough for the people judging. I told him I sent 90 (we kept 10 for us), so I could bribe the coworkers to put pressure on the judges (also coworkers). :rotfl2: There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; no idea what they are. Judging is at 2pm, so here's hoping at 3pm, I get a call saying we won!

Then I finished mowing/weedwacking the front yard, and did the backyard too. Working on 4 loads of laundry today; tomorrow, I'll do our bedding, and wash what DS left in his dirty clothes hamper and his bedding, so I can put it away. Got my bathroom scrubbed; have swept and mopped the front half of the house, and the kitchen is cleaned. I need to do the hall bathroom and sweep and mop the rest of the house, and clean the bedroom DS was using, but that can wait until tomorrow).

I did make a new recipe for dinner night before last; I browned some ground chicken; seasoned with paprika, garlic, ginger, salt and coriander. Added some gochujang and honey, then some coconut milk; and served with some Vigo's coconut ginger rice and roasted zucchini chips (with the same seasoning). it was SPICY but very good! Then we had Chipotle last night, as I was exhausted; I like the new steak. Tonight is just going to be hot dogs, beans, and chips, because I'm tired again today.

DGS#4 had his first birthday a few days ago, and then yesterday took his first steps!! He's a little firecracker, lol. DD#2 had her hours cut at Legoland CA (due to low visitor time), so picked up a 2nd job at Disneyland (for 2-3 days a week); she's still at LL, as a VIP guide (and has received several kudo emails from her tours, including from a writer from the TV show The Unit; the woman who was Garcia on Criminal Minds; and the producer of Free Guy); there just aren't very many VIP tours at this time of the year. She's been trying to get cross trained, but it's slow going; so she just got a 2nd job. Free entry to LL and DL? Yes please! We were planning on going to both in January, when we go to visit, so that will save us some money, lol. DH is also taking DGS#2 to see Monster Jam while we're there. We are going to go to the children's museum and zoo/aquarium when we're in Omaha, with DD#1; and not sure what else, but there isn't much going on while we're there, so... It's just about spending some time with the grandkids, so just being with them is all we're worried about.

Need to go switch out loads, so I'll check in later. Y'all have a good day.

Here's to it coming full circle with your DS. Had no problems with my son and younger daughter, but......

Older DD took me through the ringer. It would take a book to write down all of her exploits from about age 16 on. It got better. She's in her 40ties now and doing well, but I spent a lot of time worrying.

The whoopie pies look delicious!

Good luck and hope you win first prize.

Will take 2-3 weeks to be effective.
Hope it helps before then.
Fingers crossed for a good day. 🤞🏻
Fingers crossed for him, hope he has been having a good day.
Rained again overnite
We got a decent hard rain mid-day, and now at 2:30 it's still drizzling and breezy. Our side yard needed a bit of tamping down so the rain was helpful to us - looks like a rather spectacular fall weekend is on tap though.
Watched Survivor last night.
I recorded it, I need to watch it before next week or the second episode will record and I'll be so far behind I won't be able to catch up! I loved that show and never missed it up until about 2 or so years ago.
Which reminds me, I have got to start putting out my fall decorations this weekend, too
Me, too! This weekend will be cool and will help me be in the mood to decorate.
It's been a rough week.
Hugs - like Judique mentioned, he'll come full circle. My eldest son was a bit hard headed and strong willed shall we say, it resolves itself out in the end.

Well, my weekend is almost here. I'm taking tomorrow off to assist with the barn demo and I've got about 4 -5 hours to put in up in the big tractor. Grape harvest time is about here and our vineyard manager just had a hip replacement on Monday, so I'll be doing double duty next week more than likely. But if I can get my mowing done tomorrow before I'm ready to go to sleep I'll have a big head start on Saturday & Sunday and maybe carving out a few hours to do a bit of clothes shopping.

Dinner this evening will either be pot pies or ?
