Chris and I honeymooned at WDW when it was just MK. That started our life long love for WDW. We stayed offsite as the only 2 hotels onsite we could not afford. There was alot to do offsite too. The White Mts are a great place to honeymoon too. It is so beautiful and so much to do. We started going to the White Mts when the kids were little and we took them to Story Land and Santa's Village.

Still hot here. We had some rain while I was with the grandkids but now it is sunny and humid. Joe was looking a bit better but still confused. I was glad to see him eating muffins and drinking coffee. I had fun with the grandkids.

Have a good rest of the day.

Same here when my boys were little. We went several years until they outgrew it. My Goddaughter's wedding was in the White Mountains in Fall..so beautiful!

Good afternoon.

For whatever reason, just can't keep up here.

The storm that went through here Thursday night was pretty bad. We only had small branches down but reports of a lot of trees down in the county.. Our across the street neighbor had a tree come down in his front yard but luckily didn't hit anything, He's been working with a chain saw to remove it. We had planned to go to Longwood that night but changed our mind when the weather started.

I saw videos of the tornado in Smith Island. Closer to @easyas123 than me. DD and family were in their camper at camp in Centreville when it went through. Luckily no problems.

Re: honeymoons. Ours when at WDW when there was only MK and EPCOT. We stayed in the Contemporary.

Where are you staying?
We have a VRBO 4 bedroom house in Windsor Hills Resort rented.
so glad you were able to figure out the fridge. Little fingers can cause lots of worry and stress.
Reminded me of our freezer story. We have a GRI circuit that includes the outlets by all the bathroom sinks and the kitchen sink. Some small child of ours (this was many years ago) pushed the button in their bathroom triggering it. We found out a day or so later that the freezer was on the same circuit. We had an additional circuit added in the basement after that.
Envious of those planning the WDW trips. But, soon I will be planning and making the one ADR we are doing for the kids. I will be trying to get Tusker House character lunch for 11 people.
We have Tusker House for lunch the first day. Cinderella's Royal table for breakfast, and for lunches San Angel, Captain Skipper in MK, and Brown Derby. The plan is a sit down AC break every day.
Also did the power of attorney and health care proxy signings.
Good for you. So helpful to your kids.
Joe asked me to keep her in crossword puzzle books and chocolate.
And so nice of you to care for Joe's sister.
people were getting their panties in a bunch for being scolded for not eating their green beans.
That is a shame. When we went, DH had to stand in the corner for not finishing his potatoes. I was laughing so hard I couldn't speak.
in exactly two weeks, at this time, I'll be boarding a plane to Miami, for our Belize vacation!
How exciting. In two weeks, I'll be in AK.
I make a point of parking as close to her driveway as possible each time I go. It's open parking for anybody and she's an idiot.
A story from my first house in a row house neighborhood. Each yard was 18 feet wide, so barely big enough for two cars. Most people were courteous and just parked where they could. I became an expert parallel parker. One neighbor, who we all had a name for that I can't say here, had a corner house so had space in front of and along the side of his property. This was a public street though. The family had multiple cars and would park them a half car length apart to prevent others from parking. They would often move a car in if one of theirs left. If there was ever a space open there, we would park in it and try not to move our car for as long as possible. I know, childish, but fun.
I wish I had a tomato fairy!!!!!
I do too.
another employee who will not get vaccinated - she's got it for the second time.
I just don't understand thinking like that.
destined to spend my golden years as a recluse, writing children's books about sloths!
:rotfl2:
Do any of you use Instagram?
I do.
I am just popping in to ask for extra prayers for my kids.
Done. How petty of your soon to be H. What is the age span of your kids?

Better go make some dinner. Tuna salad tonight.

Afternoon all. ((good thoughts)) to all dealing with illnesses and bad weather and frustrating hiding animals and exes and everything else that is making us a bit crazier today.
@Breezy_Carol I hope you have fun at WDW! (Im assuming you meant Animal Kingdom, and not Arkansas, because I'm not sure how thrilling going to Arkansas would be for anyone........) How funny about your husband! My DH got caught not eating his green beans, so his loving wife ate his green beans, and he took my collard greens (sad for me) so he could get his dessert, lol.
@tazdev3225 Happy birthday!!

Busy day for me today. Went and got my hair chopped, and while I was there, the stylist mentioned I should go next door and get some cookies from this new cookie place. Crumbl just opened up yesterday, and apparently, they had a line out the door until midnight! 😲 So, someone may or may not have stopped and picked up 12 cookies (2 of each flavor: Banana bread; milk chocolate chip; Strawberry ice cream bar; Monster; Mint Brownie; and caramel chocolate. (and I am the next to last person in my family to know about these cookies; I sent pics to the girls and they were instantly "OH CRUMBL!!!!!" :rolleyes2 20220806_093718.jpg 20220806_093731.jpg (the caramel melted on the drive home, lol)

Then had to drive the cookies home, so they wouldn't melt in the car...and drove back to the same shopping center to drop a package at the UPS store for Amazon return (which wasn't open when I was there 30 minutes before, so I have an excuse, lol). Went to Walgreens (again) to attempt to get the shots for my trip, to find out the lazy pharmacist last week and the week before, did not order the Polio or Typhoid. I settled for a Tdap booster (last one was...jeez 1986), and a Flu shot; will have to go back up on Tuesday to get the other two, and the other pharmacist swore she was ordering them right then and there, to be delivered Monday night. Then went across the street to Kohls to return another package for me, got my $5 KC reward, and picked up 2 shirts for DD#1(on clearance, with the $5 KC and 20% off, I spent $4.50). Grabbed Jimmy Johns for lunch (mmm, Chipotle Cheesesteak for me), and went home to eat. Realized about 2 hours later that I needed to go to Target to pick up DH's meds from the CVS in there, and I needed a brush for the trip (I usually use just a comb, but I have spray in dry shampoo and leave in conditioner for those days I don't wash my hair on vacation; and I feel like the brush is better with the shampoo.) So back up to Target (right next to Kohls and JJ) and get almost $200 in food and stuff for DS while we are gone. :rotfl2: Thank goodness DH got the $300 GC from his company on Friday (for the cost of living bonus they are handing out through November). And I'm now making meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas for dinner.

At least the roof is done, lol.
Dinner is calling. Y'all have a good night!

Good evening everyone.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes I feel loved. I had a great day. My mom and I, and a friend from church went to Lancaster for the day. Shady Maple for breakfast. Mom got me another Jim Shore Disney piece to add to my collection for my birthday. I got the Cheshire Cat this time. I also got some things to decorate the bathroom. I am going with a beach theme. I'll try and get pictures of them later to show. We then went to Kitchen Kettle and I got my 3 Snickerdoodle cookies. Mom hurt her knee so she stayed in the car. The outlets for the Disney Store and I got a couple of great deals. A Star Wars Mug, A huge Christmas Bowl and 2 books for LJ plus a small ornament. I paid less $20 so I was really happy with that. Ice Cream and them my free cake at the grocery store. I was happy.

@frog3101 - I was saddened to read that about your oldest and her father. If she is 14 she should definitely get to have a say, I know here in Philly she would. I agree though screen shot everything and save it for court. Technically recording your soon to be ex is illegal. Found that out when we tried to use it against a neighbor threatening me. I hope things get better soon.

If you all could keep my daughters BFF in your prayers. She went into labor today but wasn't due til mid September. I am sure the baby will be ok but it is her first and she's a little scared.

Hope you all have a great night.

Good later (just realized it is 4) afternoon to my fellow Quacker AuntieMe3 and Good Evening to the rest of you,

Still warm here. Thankful for the A/C. Such a blessing for me to not be freezing all the time. Dad and I are enjoying watching again The Price is Right. I think I shared that earlier this last week. The show is absolutely not the same without Bob Barker. I also don't much care for the pandemic format although it is a ton better now than in the early Covid days when contestants were completely pre-chosen as in there were only the people who would actually be playing each game. Summer fun 📺 watching.

Snowysmom, I fondly remember when the Disneyland was much simpler as was the DHL. Dad and I enjoyed their pedal boat ride many times when I was a kid. There was no CA Adventure, which to be honest, I still don't understand (not Disney to me for the most part) or some of the other theming choices these days. Somehow seems more showy and less focused on family fun. I am old and old fashioned! All that was to just to say, IMO, simpler, often, really can be so much better in many ways. :grouphug:I am truly grateful you and Chris got to enjoy your honeymoon at MK! Happy memories truly are precious as are times with your grandkids. So thankful to God you have them!

Lynn, ::MinnieMo's:cake:sure looks tasty. Yum! Very cute picture. That is so cool that both you and Snowysmom took kiddos to the White Mountains. I've Googled Storyland when some of you have mentioned it in the past and it sounds adorable for young children.

From across the country, Carol, I'm excited and happy for you::MickeyMo Much prayer that you and your family enjoy a fantastic trip. Thank God, you and your neighbor, too, were okay from the storm, it sure sounded from what all of you have shared, fierce. Thank you for sharing that you use Instagram. I'll PM you after I finish this post.

Talking about tasty treats 🍪, wow to Crumbl Cookies, B&B. enjoy your dinner and goodies. Prayers you do okay with the vaccine. Excited for you as well with your upcoming trip.

Birthday :hug:Taz! I am so happy it sounds like you have had a wonderful day. Awesome to even getting free 🎂and🍨 So glad you got to see your friend as well. Prayers for healing for your mom's knee. A beach-themed kitchen sounds lovely and refreshing, too!

Keep cool and have a good rest of the evening, friends.

Happy Birthday @TazDev.

Here is the link to Sue's birthday surprise.

I settled for a Tdap booster (last one was...jeez 1986),
I had one before Tessa was born. DD insisted.
Grabbed Jimmy Johns for lunch
I like Jimmy Johns!
I needed a brush for the trip (I usually use just a comb, but I have spray in dry shampoo and leave in conditioner for those days I don't wash my hair on vacation; and I feel like the brush is better with the shampoo.) So back up to Target
Were you successful? I went to Target for a comb and they didn't carry any combs anymore.

Hi all - Can't answer everything, as it was a long day and I still have regular evening chores to do, but the first day of the flea market went well, and we'll be back at it tomorrow.

Love the 99th birthday video, and add me to the list of WDW honeymooners. - Animal Kingdom was just being built then, and the MK castle was a birthday cake!

Huge :thanks:dear Carol! Loved the video. Meant so much to me to see Sue more live (than just over the phone) for first time since before Covid. I think the last time I saw her was probably at the very beginning of March, 2020 we along with half a dozen or so other mutual friends met at a local restaurant for lunch to celebrate the two February birthdays of Ruth (as in number 9 cakes making Ruth) and Shirley (also in her 90's). So glad thanks to you, as well, the rest of our Quacker family will get to meet Sue, too.

it's possible I had a booster of the Tdap when I was pregnant with DS 18 years ago. I honestly cannot remember; I know I've had a tetanus shot at least twice in the last 29 years. I am pretty sure I had an MMR booster when I was pregnant with DS, and I got my Hep A before I got pregnant because they were required for my food handling card back then; got the Hep B as well, just to have it done. I'm getting the polio done because it's resurgance here in the US, plus you know, Belize; typhoid too. We're getting the shingles one when we get back.
I did find combs, and the brush I was needing...and a few new clips and some little scrunchies and.... :rotfl2:

@frog3101, you should really push for your DD14 to be able to speak to the judge, especially if she feels threatened by her dad. Taping his threats and abusive talk would be a good idea if she can manage to do it without his knowledge. I imagine he would take her phone away if he caught her. I know that here in Texas the courts will listen to a child at 12 years old if they feel that harm may come their way.

Speaking of honeymoons, ours was to be in Port Lavaca, TX. We didn't have internet back then for research, just a Rand McNally Travel Guide, and when we arrived for our stay, we found this little town just a small fishing village. So we headed west along the coast until we arrived at Corpus Christi. A much nicer place for a newly married couple to stay in. After a couple of days of fresh seafood and beach time we headed back towards Dallas and stopped in San Antonio, Austin and Waco for little side trips. It was a fun week of exploring.

I had the privilege of taking the GK's to their dad last night. DD had to work till 7:00 pm at a community get together at her school. I took the kids to the assigned place, McDonald's, I got there a little before 6:00 and sat for about 30 minutes in the car. DD had contacted her ex to say that we were there and he said that he was running late but would not give her an ETA for me. His reason was that he had to wait on DD once so I just had to wait. So I took the kids inside for an ice cream cone and to play. They played for awhile and then told me they were hungry and needed a drink. It was 6:45 by then, we had been there for almost an hour. They had only been eating for less then 10 minutes when I get a text from DD at 7:10 saying that he was there. I had seen him drive by and park but wanted to give the kids an opportunity to eat their dinner. I asked her to let him know that the kids were eating and he refused to come in, he wanted them outside right then, he had waited long enough ( had been there less than 5 minutes). I sacked their food up and walked outside with them. He refused to let them take their food with them. He is such a jerk!

@Pea-n-Me: After seeing your posts in the Olive Garden thread, I thought you might enjoy this: https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a10352/sausage-potato-and-kale-soup/

Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana at home! This recipe is super easy, always comes out great, and is very flexible. We usually cut the dairy down to about 1/2-1 cup of either whole milk or half & half. Usually I double the potatoes (Dutch Baby or baby Yukon Gold), then remove about a 1-2 C. at the end to puree, then add back in. Gives the soup a very creamy mouthfeel without adding any cream. And we almost always add more veggies, too. Enjoy!

Good morning ! Foggy and gray outside now, rained again overnite. This is August isn't it? We never get any rain in August, lol!
Heat wave again today, and for the next 2 days.

@Kirby So sorry that you had to deal with your daughter's ex like that. Wow, he sounds pretty much like frog's soon to be ex. He expects everyone else to do what he wants, when he wants

@frog3101 --Your soon to be ex (and TT) both sound like real pieces of work. They both just want what they want, and aren't even taking the what the kids want into consideration. Hang in there,,the courts will see what is going on in the end.

@Breezy_Carol Thank you for sharing Sue's birthday surprise with us for Mona, that was very nice of you. Loved seeing Sue's smile!

My back is still aching. I think weedwacking yesterday just added to how it was already feeling.

Not much going on today that I know of, same old same old

Have a good day

Morning everyone!

@Kirby I just don't get why people act like that; they are supposed to be setting an example for the kids, and doing what's best for them. Ridiculous.

@lynxstch Take a day off and rest your back, woman!

@theluckyrabbit ooh, yummy! I like their pasta fajioli (sp?) better but that one is good too.

@flyingdumbo127 you did a great thing for your friend!

Woke up a lot during the night; feeling a bit achy and stuffy; I'm assuming from the vaxx. Gonna have to fib on Tuesday when they ask if I had any cold symptoms in the last 14 days, haha.

I have pasta cooking on the stove, and carrots/cauliflower/broccoli roasting (just to soften slightly, and to get some browning on them, so very high heat for short amount of time) in the counter oven, so they can get nice and cool for pasta salad. I was going to make some bread, but honestly, my arms feel like they are going to fall off, so skipping that. I am planning on finishing sweeping/mopping the house today, if my arms feel better later, but I do need to get laundry folded and put away, because I have laundry to wash tomorrow.

I'm going to go drink my coffee and eat half a cookie. LOL Y'all have a good day!

@TazDev Belated Happy Birthday.

@Breezy_Carol Thank you for posting Sue's video. It was so nice and she is so sweet. I hope you have fun on your Disney trip. Knowing you got an ADR to Tusker house gives me hope that I will be able to.

@lynxstch In agreement with B&B that you need to take a day off to rest your back. It is going to be a hot day so a good reason to stay inside and relax.

I do not understand why some exHs have to be so mean and controlling when it comes to the kids. It seems like they want to hurt their ex but they are only hurting the kids. I guess they don't care. So sad.

Hot day again today. Walked early and will walk again before too long and it gets too hot. I will be at older DS's this afternoon taking care of younger DGS. The time changed again. I am not sure what is going on but their activities seem to change by the hour. No outdoor play today with temps around 95.

Have a good day.

Good Morning 🌸

Thank you all, all the extra for bringing faith and kind joy to all. I continue to pray that each of us would choose to come together as Christ would have us. I don't understand and never will how anyone can deliberately choose, especially to a child, to be cruel. Zero excuse for this behavior, a million% of the time!

Thank you again Carol for posting the video!

I am so glad all of you got to meet Sue. She would love each of you.

Have a beautiful Sunday, friends. I will come back later.

I have made Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana soup a couple of times. I enjoy their Chicken and Gnocci soup the most. I need to get that recipe. I'll have to make the Zuppa Toscana again once it cools down.

DH and I went out to dinner with friends last night. We were trying Sammy Lou's Cooking and BBQ again. They had moved into a new, larger space. The old one was very small and crowded. The food was much better than we remember. We hadn't been since before the pandemic. I had fried catfish and DH had chicken fried steak. He said that it was actual meat, not the soybean stuff. Our only issue was it smelled like sewer gas for awhile and was a little warm on the inside. Once the A/C kicked on then the smell went away thank goodness! We'll eat there again sometime.

I've been doing real good about getting to bed around 10 pm and actually going to sleep but I was up till 4:15 this morning. Ugh!!! Got up and went to early church, trying to stay in my normal routine but now I'm beginning to fade pretty fast. At least I didn't fall asleep during church! :faint:

Good afternoon to all Quackers. We have another hot and humid day here in my neck of the woods. Yesterday was a day that you pretty much got drenched just walking out the door. Hope everyone else is staying cool and safe. Sounds like some of the storms that some of you have gotten are pretty serious.

@Kirby I am sorry you had to deal with that. I bet your daughter and I could swap some not so great stories if we ever got the chance to meet in real life.

@Breezy_Carol Thank you for posting the link for Sue's surprise and @flyingdumbo127 what a great thing you were able to pull off, a win for everyone.

@tazdev3225 I'm behind but happy happy late birthday wishes to you. I just say that it's a celebration month...not just a day. :)

@Snowysmom sending you extra hugs as always. Hope your time with your grandson is filled with lots of fun.

@Bianca and Bernard The Crumble cookie place must be exploding all over. My friend just "introduced" me to them a few days ago. The closest one to us right now is actually about 60 miles north, but her boyfriend works up that way sometimes and stopped and picked some up the and brought them home. I just happened to be over there and got to taste a few.

@Pea-n-Me If I could convince you to come be my chef and @lynxstch to put my house in order I'd be set! Seriously all of you seem to be really good cooks. I am in hopes as I mentioned before to get into cooking a bit more and trying new things. I do really enjoy baking, so I hope to explore some new things in that area too. I just gotta make it though the next two weeks and things should settle a bit...I pray.

@footballmouse I'ma bit behind, but I'm sorry you were having a hard time awhile ago with your boys being grown and not around much. I am definitely having a hard time adjusting to not having at least 1 or 2 kids around. Maybe we could meet someday and have an adventure of some sort.

Well, my daughter continued to text me and tell me how awful it is over there. I feel so helpless. I am going to contact my lawyer on Monday and see if there is any way possible for her to have a voice. She insists she isn't going back for the 7 days. I am actually fearful he will call me at the last minute tonight and say he has decided to keep them for the week. I swear adults are not forced to be in relationships that they don't want to be in. (for the most part I mean work and such is a bit different) but kids are forced into unhealthy relationships. What he is doing is verbal and emotional abuse but the courts don't seem too concerned. I could call DHS but I think that would just open a can of worms that I am not really prepared to deal with.

I don't know much else. Less than 6 hours until the kids get home, assuming he doesn't keep them. I am scared of how they will be. My oldest said th younger 3 are brainwashed by my husband, TT (the girlfriend), and his mom. They really don't have a chance with the 3 of them all bombarding them.

Stay cool and safe everyone.
