Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

It hasn’t gone into the 50’s, but not windy, so I rode my tricycle for about 1/2 hour. We have been working on indoor decorations today.

My DH, who had a lung lobe removed just over a month ago, slept on his recliner for about a week. Then for two weeks, he would go back and forth from the recliner to the bed in our guest room. Last week, for the most part, he slept in the guest room, in the queen bed. It was easier for him to see our dog in that room. This week, he has begun sleeping in our room because he felt that he could maneuver the path to the bathroom even if Gus was in the way. So far it’s worked. :goodvibes

Notre Dame football is on soon, and we’ll be watching!

I’m happy with most any kind of strongish cocoa If it has a marshmallow!

QOTD: What is your favorite type of cocoa?
Not a milk drinker and it has a lot of calories, so I rarely drink hot chocolate. Tessa wanted some when she came in today so I made chocolate milk and warmed in microwave. She wanted it in the Belle cup I have.

Bianca and Bernard.... What a difficult situation to go through! I can understand what you are going through. We also have a son who has been suicidal at times. I'm glad he is at home, so you can help him. Our son was out of the house and I panicked whenever the phone rang. He also refused any help or medication. I pray that he and you will find some relief from the mental health issues. Our country needs to do something about mental health services! >:( Hang in there, I wish you strength. When there is a free moment please try to do something for yourself, it's so easy to get caught up in the stress and in turn, you can suffer.

I'm not fussy. - If someone is making me Cocoa, whatever kind they like it fine by me!

But I do have a special fondness for the individual Land 'o Lakes packets, because that's what my mom used to send in my college care packages.

So true!

Hooray for a nice surprise visit, Carol :)

Cocoa sounds like a good idea Lynn! I think we had a cocoa discussion on here once before. Cocoa powder from the can (I've never liked) and too much in a packet doesn't sit right with me. Do any of you have any cocoa suggestions? I would prefer lighter and creamier but definitely chocolatey. The very best cocoa I have ever had was years ago at a local ice cream place in Northern, CA. It was amazing!

Have a good afternoon, friends :)

QOTD...my absolute favorite is Ghiardelli peppermint cocoa powder. I make it with milk, not water and I think its very creamy. The peppermint flavor is very subtle, not overwhelming. It is a little pricey, but I got the 2 lb bag on Amazon and that will last us most of the winter

Those are really good too, but none of the stores around here carry them anymore :(

Good morning all. Gonna have a heat wave and be all of 45 today, lol. I took a long relaxing hot bath last nite, put on comfy pjs and slippers, and sat down to watch tv with Mr L, and promptly fell asleep, lol. Took an hour long nap, woke up, had a snack and was in bed by 10. He slept in his chair again, even though I suggested that he take a nap yesterday afternoon in the bedroom.
Summer is coming by today to pick up all her cleaning supplies, says she has to clean her own house before Thanksgiving. She's been so occupied cleaning here, that she barely realized that Thanksgiving is in only a few days. She has to drive late tonite to pick up her husband, who hopefully will be home for 8 days this time instead of only 3. He will be coming over to clean out our gutters one last time before winter, and doing anything else we need done outside, but there isn't much!

Decided that dinner tonite will be 'american chop suey' or american goulash, which ever people want to call it. That will give me leftovers for a couple of nites. Mr L was getting used to fixing his own meals, and now I can barely get him to do anything when I am fixing them. That needs to stop. I am NOT doing everything for him like I used to, not being cruel,I just see that he was making himself do so much more, and now he's not. Getting out to the car, and getting in driving will be the next hurdle he faces,in a parking lot somewhere , where there are no other moving cars!

Have a nice morning allfca17161c5be7d21a7bb93a165331542.gif

Good morning, everyone!

Hopefully an easy day here. I just have to run to the feed & seed for cat food.

I've already straightened up the fridge and the downstairs freezer. (I'm really afraid that one's on it's on it's last legs, though. - I told DH I think it's time to start watching for deals.)

Other than that, I have a puzzle almost finished and a Hallmark Christmas movie calling my name!

Tomorrow is "around town" errands - bank, library, and Walgreens for a couple of things.

Then Tuesday, I have the twins in the afternoon because they have a half-day of school, so I may do some Christmas shopping in that direction on my way.

Same here...check Wayfair if you haven't already. I have been keeping my eye on our local Lowes. We don't want an expensive freezer,,and they have some for around $200-300, but unless its over $396, they charge you $95 for deliver. The Lowes store is less than 10 miles from here. Just may have to find someone with a truck to go and get it!

Good morning all. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. Things are getting better, a day at a time.

We are having our Thanksgiving tomorrow, as someone needed to make room in the freezer for 2 bags of homemade chili and some other meats, so someone had to take the turducken out of the freezer 4 days ago. /sigh So, today is my prep day; I'm about to start making Cornbread *(Jiffy, of course) for the dressing. (I know the turducken has stuffing/rice in it, but I can't have a turkey day without my dressing! I usually do all the prep the day before, but since DH won't be home to be underfoot, I'll do it all in the morning. I'm making a new recipe today...Bourbon Spiced Pecan Pie. I've made the spiced pecans, and I need to make the crust after it cools.

We had pizza last night, so we'll just have leftovers today, along with a veggie tray and some meats/cheeses/crackers if wanted. I made a three bean salad the other day for dinner; served it with some warmed flatbread; DH really loves that. We're trying to do vegetarian 1-2 days a week, depending on what produce I can find that looks good.

I've beenworking on some needlepoint Christmas ornament type things, to keep my mind and hands busy. I'd forgotten how much I like doing things like that; I gave it up about 15 years ago, for various reasons that don't matter anymore. I do have trouble with the needle sometimes; my hands are not cooperative at times.

DS is out picking up a new pair of tennis shoes, as he doesn't like the ones he has; I bought them online; then they are getting his bike from REI. They picked it out yesterday and paid for it; then they had to wait to get today, so it could be put together.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Will have to read back since yesterday, just skimmed for now as busy this morning.

Wanted to share that we went to the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Plymouth, MA, yesterday. It was the 400th anniversary of “America’s Hometown” and it was really nice. Will share some news footage here. Was going to post pics from parade but it was hard to see phone screen. It is going to be broadcast Thanksgiving morning at 9am, but not sure if it’s just locally or what. It was chilly, but sunny, thankfully, and everyone was dressed for the cold. We were right down at the waterfront by the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock so it was :cold:!

End of parade - Santa! (You can see the front of the Mayflower here to the right of the Plymouth Rock memorial.)

Willfully ignoring the state of the house, trying to take it in stride… Also realizing I may have to return my new router because I’m technically challenged.
After some coffee, and digging into the trash for the sticker I’d thrown away with the secret password stamped on it… I figured out my router! It works! Now I’m off to praise God.

Good afternoon.

Went to church, stopped at the liquor store for wine of Thanksgiving, then home for lunch and football on TV. I have a list of chores I am trying to complete. Started with wiping down all of the kitchen counter and small appliances.

Grey and cold outside. We had Joe Corbi pizza for lunch. I am making a big pot of chili for dinner so I can freeze a few meals.

@Carol_, :welcome: to another Carol.

I am NOT doing everything for him like I used to, not being cruel,I just see that he was making himself do so much more, and now he's not.
You are right to do this. You are NOT being cruel. It is better for both of you if he is more mobile. (PT in me coming out.)

Hug, Bobbiwoz, and God Bless you and your DH. So glad he is doing better. So glad you have Gus, too!

I also rarely drink hot chocolate, Carol, and still totally agree with you on milk, not a fan of it by itself at all! I think because so many Hallmark Christmas movies and Christmas books feature a cozy hot cocoa scene that often the idea of it sounds better than probably actually drinking it!

Hug, DazedX3 and prayers extra for your family. Please take care, too!

:) Love how you said that PollyannaMom about cocoa, you’re right. I never knew Land O lakes made cocoa. We buy their sweet butter. Absolutely this country of ours needs to do so much more and in kind fashion about mental health services. Pretty picture and more than that, of course, so thankful you are safe. I like your plan! Have fun Christmas shopping and enjoy being cozy today, my friend. I am still watching Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, a movie I enjoyed last season.

That sounds good, Lynn! At the same small town ice cream that made the cocoa, I also enjoyed peppermint stick ice cream and just once or twice when they had it an amazing peppermint fudge flavor! Not big on strong mint flavors but that was good and makes me think the peppermint cocoa would be too. HOORAY! Mr. L absolutely needs to pitch in! Household running and care is not your 100% responsibility, my friend! So happy to read you writing that! It is never cruel or wrong to want joint cooperation in daily tasks. Plus, with both of you more actively involved with household care, that ought to (I pray) strengthen tour bond with one another because you are really taking care of each other in a fuller way and of yourselves!

Extra hug and continued prayer, B&B! Making an ornament sounds like fun. Thanksgiving can indeed be any day, my friend. May you and your family enjoy your celebration.

How fun, Pea! I really enjoy hearing about all of your Quacker’s smaller towns and more local activities. So glad you got to go and thank you for the links and video. I will check them out later.

Welcome, Carol. Have a blessed Sunday. I will be off to praise God extra in online worship viewing this afternoon.

Sunny and cool here. Dad shared the happy news that it may be in the 80's for a couple days next week! Hugs to all this beautiful Sunday.

Bianca and Bernard. Sending prayers to you and your DS. I am glad you were able to find someone to help him. I hope he continues to improve with everyone's help.

QOTD The like the Land O Lakes cocoa. I put some packets in the kids' Christmas stockings. I like the mint and the caramel.

I am back from the sleepover as well as working at the house Saturday and Sunday. I was able to do a little grocery shopping at the Market Basket where DH used to do our shopping. It was quick and I did not see any cashier's that we knew from previous times. That really helped me keep it together. I went to the house and "cooked" a frozen pizza for lunch and made a small pot of coffee. I have not done either since DH passed. I felt OK at the house and do like the homey feeling I had for a few hours. I did cry and get a bit anxious when I found some things that belonged to Chris. I am going to try to stay at the house Friday night. Older DS does not approve, younger DS says the worst that will happen is I can call him and he will pick me up to stay at his house for the night. I told them I would just get up, sit in the living room, and watch TV and doze if it gets to be too much to sleep in bed. Then I will know in my heart that I cannot stay at the house at all. If I can do it I will maybe stay there on the weekends. I really do have to try it. Today was tough at the house. We found a wedding invitation from our wedding which made me cry. It is a keeper for sure. I also got mad at DH for having so much junk and stuff that we have to go through. I feel like I cannot truly grieve and mourn as long as I have to go through all this sentimental stuff. It is like picking at a wound. I need to have my own home and just don't see it coming any time soon so I am anxious. We are ordering another dumpster to be delivered this week. DS said he is going up to a bigger one since we filled the last one so quickly.

On the bright side my grandkids were so sweet and fun last night. My older DGD got me flowers. She told her mom that she wanted to get flowers for Nana. She also made me a bead bracelet. DGS made me a necklace. He said he put on 2 bead hearts because he loves me. Younger DGD just smiled and laughed with me. DDIL made me a wonderful beef stew for supper. The turkey cupcakes were a big hit with everyone and were delicious. I just wish Chris were there. I think Chris is around. I have radio presets in my car and I only go back and forth between 2. Chris put on one preset for a station he liked before he passed and it is not near my 2 presets. I never touch that one. Some mornings when I start the car and look at the presets, his preset is lit up. I know I did not touch it. So I say, HI Chris. Today I got to the house and the bathroom light was on. I know for sure I turned it off yesterday. I check all the lights before I leave and only leave on a couple but not the bathroom. It makes me feel like he is close anyway.

Have a nice evening.
