character interaction they really create memories if you are an adult and asking for an autograph.

Evil Queen....boy did she do a number on me..by the time I was done...there was a crowd of 10-15 folks....never ask for her autograph.

Best photo Peter pan and my second wife, she was short...so Peter Pan played on that for a long time. and she also got to dance with mickey in the old DCA...characters love to interact with short adults.

my son had an autograph book and went thru the small world line of character...but he was fearful....so can't recall anymore

my favorite character....and don't judge me....was Hopper..I just love the voice of Kevin Spacey and Hopper was the perfect world literature villain and meet a classic death....In my Disneyland collection of 400 pcs...Hopper was the most collected figurine.

and as for pooh....son and I played pooh sticks just down the block from our Salem, home...tall, but near to water bridge and folks on the way to the creek had an exotic plant..that the leaves harden rather than decompose...perfect float stick.

DS and I used to play that at a bridge near our house too!

As for the QOTD and favorite character memories, I have a couple:

Years and years ago, DH and I got a bunch of interaction time at a character meal because I knew who Meeko was (the raccoon from Pocahontas).

In a book somewhere, I have a really cute picture of Pluto coming up behind DS and pulling up the ears of the Pluto hat he was wearing.

Good morning all. Geez, we were 1/2 way down on page 2 this morning,,that isn't allowed, lol!

Its a chilly 53 outside, going to be 80 and sunny today..then into the 90's for the next 3 days. I am not ready for more heat after the nice temps we have had almost all week.

I slept from 10-12:30. Woke with a start thinking I heard Mr L calling me. Got up to find him sound asleep, so I must have dreamed it. Went back to bed and slept till 4:30. Fed the cats and am going back to bed now as hubby is still sound asleep in his chair.

Hopefully I have enough energy today to at least finish weedwacking around the bushes out in front of the house, may pay the kid next door to do the bank and the gulley this week. Other than stripping the bed, and doing that laundry, and a beauty treatment, that may be the extent of my Saturday, lol!

Have a lovely morning everyone!

ETA: I know we've had this QOTD before but fun to revisit to see whether your choice(s) have changed. QOTD for Friday 9/10: Who are some of your favorite Disney characters? And/or Do you have a favorite--or even just a more recent, pre plague (sadly), character interaction memory? I asked AuntieMe3 this earlier and realized I should have just posted to all. Fun to think about and/or a favorite memory with a character.

(Ahem)....what's my name???? Yeah, I'm old school Rescuers. but also, Maleficient (old and new)...she's on my shoulder! DH is an Eeyore guy.

Memories...let's see...I've shared the Buzz/Woody picture before; and the Captain Hook stealing shoes, and Chip & Dale taking DS. A new one: Meeting Cinderella at DL when DS was 18 months, and he ran right to her. She sat on the ground and pulled him into her lap, while he babbled at her. They were like that for maybe 10 minutes and he didn't want to leave her....'Lella was his princess!
--------------------------------------

Lynn, I agree. Pay the kid $40 to do it. Kid makes money, you don't have to do the work...win/win.

Right now, I'm just waiting for the sun to come up so I can go walk...I won't walk in the dark without DH, and he's sound asleep. I don't feel safe, plus I'm nightblind, and get blinded by the glares of headlights, so I'd end up tripping and running into a tree or something.

Making meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and veggies today for lunch. Might throw in some soberdough bread, as I have 4 mixes just sitting there. Maybe make a cake, if I get the urge.

Today is technically DSonIL#2's birthday. He decided to celebrate his birthday on the 10th from now on; he lost his birthday 20 years ago. 😢 (I can understand; I share my birthday with Hitler; Columbine and Johnson Space Center shootings; Deepwater Horizon explosion; and potheads everywhere. DS and DSonIL#1 have the Vegas shootings on their shared birthday.) So, he actually celebrated 2 days ago, as they are a day ahead of us and it was their 10th. Yesterday was their 11th. He had to go stand in a ceremony for an hour (the whole base did, I think), to commerate the day. I've watched some of the coverage and shows over the course of the last week.

Good morning everyone. Been AWOL again, it's been a rough week.

On the positive side my great nieces are both home finally. Finley came home 2 days before Evie but they are both over 5 lbs. now and doing well from what was posted on Facebook. I think that may be apart of what my mood has been this week. I am truly happy that the babies are doing well but in all likelihood I will never meet them. My one great nephew is 2 and the picture of him with the babies was the first time I have ever seen him. My niece is pretentious and I live in the city and was married to a lowly city worker and I have a Philly accent, the horrors!!! My mom thinks she is wonderful and it bothers me that she can't understand my feelings, but my mom equates having money to being a good person. What can I do.

Food distribution was very slow this week because we had rain. We still had FOUR big boxes of sweet potatoes, 3 different types of cucumbers and a full case of lettuce at the end of the day plus a ton more perishables. There is no room in the church refrigerator or freezer. Thankfully one of our new volunteers is a wonder. Last week she managed to find another church willing to take 4 cases of baby carrots. I will be curious to see what she can redistribute this week.

Today is a beautiful day and perfect for a Fall Ball Baseball tournament. I am looking forward to seeing my grandson play again. The kids are all back in school and I have 3 graduating this year, 2 from High School and one from 8th grade. LJ has 2 teeth and loves food. Last week we gave him a small taste of guacamole and he LOVED it. It is a pleasure to see him. He gives kisses now, or his version. He puts his wide open mouth on your cheek and shakes his head around but I love it. He is such a happy baby.

QOTD: my favorite characters are Grumpy, Eeyore and Mickey of course. My husband loves Donald Duck. I tend to like the sad sack misunderstood characters.

I have a few favorite character memories. Our first trip ever to Disney was when my daughter was about 3 and she LOVED Pooh. This was back when there weren't any real meet and greets. As we were leaving to head to the airport Pooh finally came out. My mom refused to let me take her down for a quick pic. We were 3 hours early, sitting in an airport listening to her sob "I see Pooh PLEASE!" She still remembers it 30+ years later.

A few years later we were down again with my mom joining us. She stayed at the hotel with my son who had been vomiting, turned out he had a panic attack at the ripe old age of 15. I took the girls to the parks and we had a ball just the 3 of us meeting characters. My youngest had on a Mickey shirt which Donald Duck seemed to find offensive. He wrote in her autograph book that she needed a new shirt but the picture was funny. He covered Mickey

Fast forward quite a few years and we were in Disney with my older daughters family. Her youngest LOVED Minnie Mouse and was so excited we were in line to meet her. As we got close to the meet and greet area she peeked around the curtain and I got one of my favorite pictures. I caught the excitement

That was just a great trip. Belle twirled with her, Rapunzel refused because it wasn't ladylike. But the funniest interaction was with Jessie and Woody. Ella had a Jessie doll that she carried to the park. Woody loved it and put it in his boot as though to keep it. Ella was so angry it made for a great experience. She was complaining to her mom here, everyone was getting a good laugh out of it.

That trip was so great on so many levels. We realized Mikey was on the Spectrum earlier that year and the CM at the line for Tiana and Naveen told the people in line grumbling about how long they were taking to just wait their turn. They were so accommodating to his needs that I wanted to cry tears of happiness. Mikey just had the longest conversation with Naveen. Mikey had really just started talking about a year earlier and to see him so engaged was wonderful. A CM was so taken with him, Mikey just started a random conversation, that he took Mikey in the Emporium and had him pick out a Perry hat because it was Mikey's favorite character. That was probably one of the best trips ever even with my Disney hating SIL with us. He had a bad experience there as a kid and was resistant to having fun until he saw how much Mikey was growing on the trip.

I look forward to taking LJ down in a few years for a new generation of character interactions.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day.

My favorite Disney Character is Belle. Of the old school Disney I would have to say Minnie. I like her attitude. DH favorite is Donald Duck and boy, can he be like him some times! LOL! My favorite character interaction was my granddaughter's meeting with Anna. I was not there but DDIL did a video. Ellie was dressed like Anna. Anna noticed and said now nice she looked. Anna talked with Ellie and danced with her. Anna made Ellie feel special. DDIL said she had tears in her eyes watching. It was amazing and it made a little girl happy. One other interaction Ellie had when she was 11 months old. We were at the character spot in Epcot waiting to see 4 of the characters. Ellie was with Mickey when she saw Minnie next door. She just made a break for Minnie. 2 adults were meeting with Minnie so they thought it was cute that a baby was crashing their meeting with Minnie. Little kids probably would not have been happy.

We are off to visit everyone and celebrate birthdays. The chocolate cake with chocolate frosting smells and looks so good. Looking forward to indulging in a small piece of cake.

Happy Saturday.

My favorite Disney character is and always has been Figment. After all, who doesn't believe in imagination when you are a kid? Or an adult for that matter

I have 2 interactions that bring happy memories. Hubby's first trip to WDW was our honeymoon trip. He has always been a fan of Winnie the Pooh and Goofy. We had breakfast at the Crystal Palace, and Pooh came over to our table, carrying a sign that said Congratulations on your wedding. He put his arms around hubby and gave him the biggest hug, while I took a pic,,still brings tears to my eyes when I come across that picture. The other I can't remember exactly where in the Park it was,,but Goofy came up behind hubby and snitched the hat off his head. Hubby turned around to give someone heck, and when he saw Goofy, it brought the biggest smile. Goofy played 'keep away' with the hat for a few minutes, while a few kids tried to catch it from him, then plopped it back on hubby's head and walked away..

I slept till almost 8:30 this morning..that's like noontime for me,,lol! Its so nice outside. I cleaned and refilled the bird feeders , washed out the birdbaths and refilled them. Stripped and remade the bed, and put the sheets in the washer. Going to wash the cats blankets and the kitchen rugs next..then call it a day. Also called in hubby's 3 $$$ meds to be refilled for Thursday when we have his ortho appt, might as well get it all done at once. Still waiting for stepdaughter to have time to call and make me a haircut appt. It needs to be colored, and if I do it while it's this long it will take 2 boxes, which will cost almost as much, if not more than a haircut..lol!

:grouphug: and Good Morning!

Precious pictures and memories! Thank you friends for sharing with us all.

One of these days we will find ourselves at Disney. I was smiling last night to realize that as part of our Quacker meet it would be a lot of fun to get a group picture with Donald! Ideally Daisy, too but either of them :donald:I am hoping by the time I get back to DL, maybe in 2023 or really by 2024 the latest (I sure pray by then)! Toontown will still be around. I'm not much into the Toons but have read on here that an hour after DL opens is when Toontown is opened by Mickey AND Minnie. I would love to get a picture with Dad with both of them! Also that would be the ideal time to tour Minnie's house as well. Mickey's house, to me, has always been dark, dank, and just not at all fun or Disney! Minnie's is adorable and her garden at the end does make a pretty photo spot.

🐥 It's Saturday! Have some fun! :)

Hello! It's your favorite intermittent, unreliable visitor! :)

Thought you all might enjoy this poem I wrote a few years ago for 9/11. I cannot believe it has been 20 years.

Heroes
The boots have made their prints in the ash and soot
Only to be washed away;
His feet run to danger,
Not away.

The pants are scuffed and dirty from falling on the concrete
As he races up the stairs;
But they also are scuffed from kneeling down
To comfort a victim coming down.

The jacket is smudged and burned,
Even it couldn’t stand the intense heat.
It reminds him of his torn and tattered heart,
As he thinks of those he is attempting to reach.

The helmet is secured,
Protecting his head.
The mask attached to his tanks,
But the fumes are too strong and seep through.

An axe in gloved hands,
To tear through the walls,
Entrapping people
In a fiery furnace.

The boots now lay empty,
The pants and jacket carefully folded.
The helmet rests on top,
An ax beside them.

A cross-beam of steel.
Names upon monuments.
A new tower of freedom.
Flags stand at half-staff.

On this day of remembrance,
We look back to that day
When our very foundation was shaken,
But not broken.

We will never forget.
We will always stand
As a beacon
For freedom, heroism, and bravery.

May God continue to bless America,
Home of the free and the brave.

(First written Nov. 7, 2012, as a tribute to our soldiers. Adapted Sep. 11, 2017.)

🐥 Writing from WDW - having a great week, even extended by a couple of days as none of us had to work (rare). It was a nice break that we all needed. Celebrated our birthdays and made some wonderful memories. Mainly stayed outside with the exception of a few walk on rides on our way out of Food and Wine the other night. For the most part, even outside of the bubble, people seemed to be pretty good about wearing masks inside. 👍🏻 Meeting some old friends tonight from home, that will be fun. Messed up a little on our flight home, but we’ll see if the airline comes through (doubting it, so if they do, it will be a nice surprise). Today would’ve been Mom’s birthday, will toast to her tonight. Thinking of you all!

Just back from the market. Wasn't crowded so got in and out in record time. Heritage Days Festival is downtown this weekend, so most people are down there. They get one beautiful day..then tomorrow it will be hotter than heck and everyone will be roasting.

Stopped at Sheetz and filled up the mower gas can, got cash out, and came home. Stepdaughter brought groceries in, came and say hi to her Dad and left. They still have water in their basement from that rain last weekend. 8" to be exact..and that's with a brand new sump pump running. She was going to clean the garage and pressure wash the house when she got home. They have a walk through with the landlord this week, before signing another years lease. I have no clue why they paid for the new pump,,when it's not their house, but they did. And I wouldn't be signing a new lease until that septic tank has been removed and they have been connected to the city sewer system, but sometimes you just can't get things through her head.

Going to put groceries away, put gas in the shed, then do a long hot relaxing beauty treatment.

Have a nice rest of the afternoon

Thank you from me, as well, Allison for sharing. That was indeed very moving and today is one to take a moment to give extra thanks!

:grouphug:Pea and I am so happy you are enjoying a fun trip! You truly needed a positive break, my friend. Enjoy and I look forward to hearing all about your trip when you come home ::MickeyMo

Lynn, :( on Stepdaughter's septic tank. I sure would not be committing to a lease either, no way! Glad you are home!

To all Quackers, have a great afternoon! I will check in later.

Good morning all. Cool 56 out now, but going to be near 90 later. I slept from 10-4, which was an accomplishment, lol . I only woke up 2x and went right back to sleep.
Woke to the sound of some kind of inspirational program with people singing,,hubby sound asleep in his chair. Turned the tv off, fed the cats, going back to bed.
My back is aching almost as bad as the other day, and I didn't even touch yardwork. I wanted to wash the floor today, but that may wait, I may just take the whole day off.

Have a nice early morning all

Good morning -
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

QOTD- I don't really have a favorite character but I have always enjoyed the Muppets-it was one of the very few shows we were allowed to watch as kids. The first time we took the kids to WDW they were 5 & 7, and Chip & Dale were who they were most excited to see. Oh - and Buzz Lightyear of course!

We had a busy day yesterday, and will have another today w/ lots to be done around here. Large tree down and cleared away. Half of the fields to be mowed are done. We are probably 2 weeks from the first of the grape harvest, it's getting close. Finishing up the bush hogging and then need to do the actual lawn mowing today. Looks like another week of AC as it's going to be hot & humid this week.

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for baseball. My grandson's team won both of their games. He did great both offensively and defensively. The tournament is over an hour away and I will be headed there again today. They have one more game and then it looks like possibly the championship game. I am so happy for him to be on a team that finally clicks. I will have to head to my swim club to pick up a shirt I ordered, drop my husband and the dog off at my sons and then get to the field as quickly, but safely, as possible. Thankfully the easiest and fastest route is all open highway.

Hope everyone has a great day.
