Good morning all. Last day of June already, the 4'th of July is only a few days away!

Prayers will go where they are needed the most!

Muggy 70 degrees out, going to 90 again. Calling for rain and cool down tomorrow,,we need both!

Did not sleep well last nite. Fell right asleep, but woke up an hour later, and couldn't fall back asleep till after midnite, and of course hubby got up at 1:30 which woke me..will need a nap later after we do errands and I grocery shop. Hopefully before it gets too hot out there.

Have a nice morning all!

Opening? Is that an autocorrect or something I just don't understand.:confused3

Yes, that was a weird autocorrect for good morning! I was on the iPad (when I'm usually on the desktop in the mornings) and sometimes I think it has a mind of its own.

Had a nice day yesterday. Finished a jigsaw puzzle with DH in the morning, hung out with my folks, and then met my cousin for shopping and dinner.

Good Morning and Happy (almost) July! :)

Hugs, Kirby that's great you were able to meet with your book club friends, yay. I just finished reading a sweet summer book by an author I had never heard of called Back to You by Carly Grant.

Hug to you, Frog, and prayers said indeed.

Hug, Lynn, it was a little harder for me to fall asleep last night, too. I hope you have a restful Wednesday today :)

PollyannaMom, hug to you too, my friend, I like that you and your DH worked on a puzzle together that sounds fun

🐥🌷 I'll stop by later.

We are already home from errands and grocery shopping..were done before 10:30, but got stuck on the highway due to construction making it down to 1 slow lane, so glad the car's ac works very well.

Aldi's was packed at 9, people looking for all the 'Aldi finds' for the week,,but they had 4 registers open so it went fast. Walmart wasn't busy, but they had people there doing inventory, so the shelves were low on stock as they left most stuff in the stockroom. No cat litter, no K cups (except the $$$ ones), hardly any canned cat food , etc.

Temp is already 90 and it feels like 98. I bought one of those 'gravity' water bowl things for the outdoor cats and put it in a shady spot. Now maybe I won't have to go and refill it every 2 hours

Have a nice rest of the morning

The cold front is moving through. We went from 98 down to l85 in the last hour, and we have severe thunderstorm warnings out. It got really windy, rained for about 10 minutes, a couple of cracks of thunder, and that was it for now. They say more rain overnite, and all day tomorrow. I gave the garden veggie plants all a good drink of miracle grow, so the rain we get will pound it down into the roots well. Fed the cats and made sure they have water for the night. Took a short nap and that was my afternoon, lol!

Dinner is going to be rotisserie chicken, salad , and fruit

Have a nice evening everyone,,and remember to change your calendars--tomorrow is July 1'st!

Trying to not react to my screaming child right now...he wants to go to the basement and play his drums (actually Daddy's drums) and Daddy doesn't want to. Just got a loud rumble of thunder as well. Last night we had a surprise storm come through; my mom thinks it may have been a microburst. I can't even describe how heavy the rain and wind was. Our next-door neighbors' trampoline, while still standing, is in our yard. All of our plants got knocked over and one of the tomato pots broke (the plant was still in the soil, so Mom duct-taped the pot back together until we can buy a new one). But something happened to the brand-new air conditioner in our room. When we went up with Josh, it didn't sound right and there was a small puddle on the windowsill underneath. Turned it off and back on several times; it was sluggish and sounded like it had water in it. The temperature in our room gradually increased from cool, then back to 86 degrees. We turned the fan up to high, but I was angry so I left the room and DH laid down with Josh. I went back up a little after 10 and it was down to 75 degrees, so I tried to sleep. Around 2 a.m. I got kicked numerous times in the back (Josh is still sleeping with us so my mom can have his air conditioned room ;) ). I've tested the unit a few times today and it's been sounding better, so maybe it just needed to dry out. Mom also mentioned that all of the windowsills had small puddles on them after the storm, even though the windows were closed - that's how strong this thing was.

Man, it's really booming out there. At least the power is still on...for now ;)

We took Josh to see Muppet Treasure Island this morning - how I LOVE Tim Curry! - and then we went to Kaptain Jimmy's, the pirate restaurant next door to the movie theatre, for lunch. Good milkshakes - Josh got a chocolate one (I thought he'd go for the Oreo, though) and I got a blueberry. Our waiter had a very distinct French accent, which Josh enjoyed. We finally got tickets for the Science Center tomorrow, so we'll be heading there bright and early.

We've also put off our tag sale until the 16th-17th. We'd forgotten that Josh's tee ball coach set up that firehouse tour for the morning of the 10th, and we can't leave my mom alone to do a tag sale herself at that time. If it was later in the afternoon, maybe, but first thing in the morning is when people are out. We've always been busy between 8 and 11 a.m. at all of our previous tag sales. It might be hot, but we'll get it done!

Mom's nagging me to choose a new laptop, too. It's amazing how I can get one with the same specs as this one, but at double the price that I paid almost 4 years ago. It's just that the internal components of this one keep failing - I had to have a new hard drive installed 9 months after purchase, then the power jack and palm rest broke 2 times after that. It has to be completely taken apart, at $150 each time. So the repairs have now cost the same as the price of the laptop to begin with. I'm just getting confused...I've gotten prices anywhere from $319 to $679! I guess I need to put it away for now and revisit later. Maybe laptops will go on sale soon for back to school :)

Good late afternoon and evening hi to all of dear you :)

It's been a quiet Wednesday here, (aside from that time of month :p coming right on time :P). I think I will end up getting some type of fade free paper as opposed to wallpaper that is self adhesive. There are all kinds of colors of painters tape to hold it up. This way the sections could more easily be put up in pieces rather than (with the sticky backing) only really at one time.

I did finally watch Sand Dollar Cove. I didn't think the acting was always too good (predictable and at times sort of flat) but the idea of the story was sweet. The beach location was beautiful!

A week from Friday, on July 9th, beginning in the early morning hours, HM&M is airing a marathon of Signed, Sealed, and Delivered! I will be recording at least 1 of them.

Stay cool, friends! I'm sorry some of you are dealing with not only heat but humidity, as well. Have some ice cream 🍨

@FlyingDumbo, I'll have to look that book up!

Is Walmart always like that are is it just today? Every now and then Kroger will have empty shelves here and there since the pandemic started and I wonder if that will be the new norm.

My sister came over and we finished up with our mom's things, boxes ready to go to Helping Hands. Once the boxes are gone I just have the pictures to go through and scan. She was here all day, till about 4:30 so DH and I decided we would try out a new BBQ place. It was okay but not as good as our old reliable Soulman's. Our favorite BBQ place, Big Al's, sold out and a 7-Eleven is being built in its place.

They said it was just like that today because of inventory. They purposely left stuff in the stockrooms so they wouldn't have to count so much on the shelves. It must be so hard to try and count things while customers are taking them off the shelves in front of you. There must have been at least 50 people doing inventory (none of them Walmart workers ).

Cool! Let me know if you end up reading the book. Kirby. I hope you would enjoy it, my friend :)

Lynn, I'm sorry Walmart didn't have some of the things you may have wanted. That is a great point about this being a harder time for stockers. I remember in the beginning of the pandemic, the shelves were scarily bare :( Dad has said stuff is pretty much in stock now. I have noticed on Amazon, the Listerine floss I use (I use their flosser that's on a stick and I purchase the mint refill heads for them) are suddenly out of stock or VERY expensive (they are costly enough at the "normal" $4 per package price) Good news is I have plenty for a good month and can get elsewhere :)

Have a good night's rest, Quacker family.

We are getting the thunder and lightning that @lynxstch had. No rain but a little wind, thunder, and distant lightning. DH and I were out walking down our court when it started to blow up. Met another original, long time neighbor and her DH out walking their dog. They are only a couple of years older than us but the husband has dementia which is really sad.

This afternoon, I went to the grocery store to pick up a couple things. Dinner was chicken sausage grillers on the grill and salad.

Hoping to get up and go directly out to pick blueberries before it gets too hot.

Have a god night everyone.

Thank you all for your prayers. This family needs all they can get and it gives me hope that even those who don’t know me or the family are praying for them.
We have had plenty of rain over the last several days. Hoping we get a break here soon, though I don’t want it to quit completely. It would ,just be nice if it were a bit more spread out/timely.

Have said prayers for the family, @frog3101 🙏🏻

Today it hit 100 degrees here, and we got the heavy rain, lightening, and thunder tonight for a while.

@apirateslifeforme I saw all the damage that was done from the storm you described to Six Flags in Agawam. Wow! For those who didn’t see it, here is an article. (Western MA and parts of CT are next to eachother.) I hope your AC unit isn’t broken. Ugh.

Glad you’re having a good trip, @PollyannaMom! It must be so nice to see family you haven’t seen in a while! :goodvibes

I’ve been a little down. We had a loss recently with funeral services this week. Not a lot to say about it other than it’s taking me a while to process it. Tonight we ordered Longhorn and all I could eat was the soup. Haven’t been sleeping well, either. Taking it easy and trying to get some rest, as I can. Glad the weather will be cooling down a bit, but staying cool in the house, except for when Toto lays up against my legs, he is like a little furnace!

Good morning QUACK'ers. We were supposed to get storms and rain all night. We got neither. Had about 15 min worth of showers, but that was it. They say 80% chance today of locally heavy rain, but who knows. We do need it badly.

@Pea-n-Me, sorry you've had a rough week, hope things get better. WOW to that storm at Six Flags, that must have been a whopper of a storm! I know what you mean about Toto being a little furnace. 2 of our cats just love to lay on top of me and sleep, but even with the ac going, I can't stand all the heat from their little bodies!

I got about 4 hours sleep last nite, but hubby woke up at 3 and is still up. Throws off my schedule totally. Then he sits in his chair and asks me dumb questions, when I am not fully awake, I hate that!

No big plans for the day, don't even feel like cleaning. Might do nothing , work on my puzzle (it's been sitting for 4 months without being touched), or just watch some of my shows. Might take a long nap.

Have a nice morning all

Started raining about half an hour ago. So far just a nice steady light rain. And now, 30 minutes later, the sun is out. I think the weathermen need to go back to meterology school! Now its even muggier out than it was earlier :( It goes from light rain, to sun, back to rain. I managed to go out and clear the gutters during a 'non rain' 20 minutes. This side of the house has a huge black walnut tree on it,,and it had dropped all kinds of leaves, sticks, baby walnuts etc. The other side of the house wasn't bad. That is one chore off my to do list that I have been putting off while it was hot. They still say heavy rains this afternoon, so at least I won't worry about the gutters overflowing now!

I used to love to go blueberry picking when DS was little! We had a whole routine every summer where we would read "Blueberries for Sal" (by the same author as "Make Way for Duckings") and he would take his little pail, just like in the book. (No bears at the little farm we went to, though!)

Glad you’re having a good trip, @PollyannaMom! It must be so nice to see family you haven’t seen in a while! :goodvibes

Thanks! Here are a couple pics from yesterday, visiting friends of my folks' on the lake:

Sorry to hear about your recent news.

Good morning.

DH and I got out and picked 3.3 pounds of blueberries. Came home and I made blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I want to take DGD but the logistics are hard. Maybe next week.
"Blueberries for Sal"
I forgot that book. I'll have to get it to read to DGD.

@Pea-n-Me, sorry for your loss. I hope you feel better soon.

Not as hot today and there is a flood watch in effect so we are expecting a lot of rain. A nice gentle rain just started.

Good Morning Quackers and Happy July!

Glad you met a new friendly neighbor, Carol. Dementia is simply heartbreaking all-around—I have Grandma experience with that :( I’m glad you also got to pick some blueberries! Enjoy them :)

Hugs, Frog, prayer always makes a difference especially when it sincerely comes from many hearts.

Yikes to that heat, Pea. I’m sorry to hear that, friend. Take care, do something just for you and always know all of us are here for you and care so much.

Such pretty flowers Pooh and Piglet are holding, Lynn. Hugs to you and prayers always that you, too, take care!

Wow, how beautiful, PollyannaMom! Hooray that you are having a fun and relaxing vacation. I never went berry (of any kind) picking but it sounds fun. What a sweet book and berry picking activity memory to make with your son, too.

:grouphug: and 💛 to all.

Whew - I've got some catching up to do!

I know many of you pray, so am asking for prayers for a family in our community who experienced the worst kind of loss recently. I don’t want to post details but all prayers for their comfort and healing would be appreciated. Thank you.
Good thoughts going out to your friends -

Almost forgot, I did make it to Wegman'

Ah! One day. It's good to have goals...get to Israel, Iceland, Wegmans...My bucket list :lmao: I'm almost sure I'll get to the first two before I get a Wegmans near enough to me!

Muppet Treasure Island this morning - how I LOVE Tim Curry

That is a great movie, one I haven't seen in ages! I may have to think about re-watching it one of these days. Tim Curry is excellent, you are spot on.

Have some ice cream

I must admit, on Tuesday afternoon I was driving thru the countryside of Delmarva and stopped at a family dairy I've been to a time or three before and bought pints of: Maple Walnut, Apple Pie, Cotton Candy, Coconut, and Peach ice cream! And a scoop of peanut butter fudge on a cake cone to go🍦:lmao: I joked to my husband that I got a good interest rate, since they are on the pricey side for pints of ice cream.

I’ve been a little down.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I hope this weekend is a good one for you.

We were supposed to get storms and rain all night

I think we are supposed to get htat tonight, but it always seems to blow around us. I'm not holding my breath, although a bit of rain would be nice.

DH and I got out and picked 3.3 pounds of blueberries

That's a lot of blueberries! I remember taking the kids to pick strawberries towards the end of the school year when they were younger. Haven't done that in ages. At this point in summer I'm waiting for Peach's to kick in around here in another 4-6 weeks during 'peach festival' season.

I've got a ton of laundry to fold this evening. I hate folding laundry, the minute they come out with the all in one washer/dryer/folder and put-awayer I'm all in! I placed a grocery order for delivery - between 3 & 5 PM. I'm hoping they come closer to 5 though. Time will tell. They'll bring the groceries right to my office and put them in my car for me, which is nice. Hopefully there is no foul up with my delivery, last time they kept changing the delivery time and it moved from 3, to 5, then to 7. I finally had to cancel it.

We've got a severe thunderstorm alert until about 8:30 this evening, so we will see what comes of that.

This day is dragging, and tomorrow will not be much better. The day or two prior to major holidays is always quiet around here in terms of phone calls & emails. I think a lot of folks just take off, can't say I blame them - good time to start a long weekend even earlier.
