I need to vent. I just had to spend 20 min on the phone with ebay. Tried to buy a cat water/food dispenser from a seller. Used buy it now, paid through paypal, got an email with the transaction #. 1 minute later I get an email from ebay that my payment didn't go through, try again. So I go and do it again. Pay through paypal, first transaction was gone, get an email with transaction #, followed by another email from ebay about payment not going through. I check sellers page, says paypal accepted. Check my paypal,,has correct visa #, exp date etc. Finally find the place to get ebay to call me. Get some guy who says 'it shows that your check out went through just fine'. I said no it did not. Both transactions are gone from paypal , and the one that showed up right away in our bank account also disappeared just as fast. He sends me to the 'buying specialist', who of course speaks broken english :( This moron tells me that Ebay is breaking ties with paypal and that they are blocking buyers from using it. I said you are totally incorrect, I know because I just used paypal on Friday to buy a Bissell Little Green Clean Machine with no issues. He disappears and comes back and says he was wrong..that the seller is the one who blocked me from using paypal. That they don't take paypal I said then they need to be reprimanded and ebay needs to make them remove Paypal as a form of payment for that seller. Guy says why don't you try buying it using your visa or debit. I said I do NOT want my visa or debit on file with ebay, that is why I use paypal! He says I will find you another seller of the same item. So he does..I look at it, and say this seller has no feedback and has been a seller for 5 days. Says they take paypal. Guy looks and says..oh I see the issue,,neither one of those sellers is verified by paypal, that's why you can't pay that way. They are going to notify both sellers that they must either verify themselves or remove paypal as a form of payment. So I made the guy restate that Ebay was NOT doing away with buyers being able to use paypal..and he admitted he spoke out of turn on that one. I said well if you do away with it, you are going to lose a LOT of ebay buyers.. I have been buying on ebay for more than 25 years, and I have never run into this issue before. The guy says do you want to try and buy it from another seller. I said YES,,I am going to Amazon to buy it,,thank you for your time and your 'misinformation' and I hung up...geez..what a waste of my time!
Thanks for letting me vent..hubby doesn't want to hear it..he was trying to talk over the guy the whole phone conversation I was on..lol!
I read somewhere that they are doing away with paypal. Ask seller if they accept different payment

E-commerce behemoth eBay is officially abandoning online payments system PayPal after 15 years, opting for a new service that’s expected to deliver benefits to sellers. eBay has announced that it will stop working with PayPal in 2020 and start transitioning to Adyen, an Amsterdam-based payments company, later this year.

They had visa, mastercard, amex and discover listed, but I refuse to give a brand new seller , with no feedback my credit card info,,and I refuse to give it to Ebay also. I can't imagine them doing away with paypal..almost all sellers, and most buyers use it. I will just stop using ebay if they do.

Do you have a link to where this info came from? I don't intend to use a payment based system that isn't even located in the US. And we are now in 2021,,so if they were going to stop using paypal, I don't think they would have done it between last Friday when I used it and today lol!

I looked it up , Ebay giving up paypal. I don't know if you can call paypal. You may find out more info.

If I recall correctly, eBay & PayPal split into two entities a few years ago and I thought my BIL said they’d be slowly moving to using a different system... mind you I don’t use eBay and very infrequently have used the PayPal account my husband set up so I don’t exactly have up to date info, this just reminded me of a conversation my husband had with his brother about it sometime in the recent past year or two.

Not knowing how they work or being a active user of either it would seem to me- if it ain’t broke???? PayPal seems to be everywhere and widely used.

Don't know why they stopped. Maybe the fees were getting to high. Ebay did own Paypal. I'm sorry to upset you

🐣 A special  and :flower3: for @AuntieMe3.

Thanks for all your thoughts, shares and kind words. :grouphug: I am feeling better. Had another busy day (and maybe busy is good). DH and I were up and out by 0630 got coffee and a donut, hit a dog park with Toto, then went grocery shopping when the store opened so we were able to fly right through. Carried all the bags in and took a short rest before tackling putting everything away and cleaning the fridge and cabinets out at the same time. Finished laundry, watered and put all my houseplants outside to get some sun (and a little rain), and then took a little nap, which felt good. Everything looks so pretty outside now that we have some greenery and flowers are blooming, etc. Love that! And I’m sorry that so many of you have had problems with wills and such. Wow. We’ve lost all four parents now, too. With previous deaths (and my Dad’s was 35 years ago) it wasn’t really an issue because there was still a spouse. SIL has been dealing with FIL’s estate and she said there have been headaches, too. I guess there probably always is. At least we’ve gotten over the hump and are headed for the home stretch, it seems. I find dealing with the banking issues the hardest, it’s not my forte. I’d much rather take care of sick people than go into a bank! (Which makes total sense for me!)

@lynxstch It’s so funny you brought up EBay, that’s another thing I dealt with before we even went out this morning, too. I have bought small things off of EBay without a problem. And always use Visa. Well last month I made a large purchase (~$250) and the items were supposed to arrive in late April. They didn’t, and I gave it some time, but still, nothing. So I contacted the seller and EBay Customer Service and haven’t heard a thing from either. Fortunately I took screenshots of the purchase (and order number) because now it’s not listed anywhere! I am kicking myself for not using Amazon. So much for trying to save a few bucks. What a pain. And we need the items soon. From now on, no large purchases from there again. DD wondered if we were scammed. Bummed to hear that. They do seem to have a policy that backs up customers either getting the items, or getting a refund. We shall see. I searched around for a number to call someone and the line I had was no longer working. Would you mind sharing the number you used so I can call them to try to get some resolution here? Thank you. And sorry you had issues, as well. It’s so frustrating. I was dealing with it for close to an hour.

Sharing my geranium that DD got me for Mother’s Day. Love those in the summer.

My heart and prayers go out to you.

Big hugs to you AuntieMe3 :grouphug:

 and evening cheer to you as well, Lynn! How frustrating :( I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

Praise God! Such a positive Kaya update to read, Allison, thank you for updating us. I will PM you a greeting for her tomorrow.

Good to see you, Pea! Glad to hear Toto had some fun at the dog park :dog2:

Good to also see you, Usnuzuloose :)

Carol and Snowysmom I hope your grandkids fun celebrations today :bday:

Have a good night, friends.

We survived the first birthday party with no rain. Temperature was changeable though: sun came out and it got hot then clouded over with a breeze and it got cool. The party was a success. Carter took a 3 hour nap here before the party while we were setting up so was in good spirits the whole time. There were a total of 9 kids here, ranging from about 3 months to 5 years. The older kids all got along well and played a lot. Food was good and plentiful. Everything is cleaned up now.

Tomorrow is a rest day except we need to drive down to DD's house to take a load of things back that didn't fit in their car.

@lynstch, vent away. Seems a lot of others have had problems. I don't use Paypal or Ebay so don't know what you are talking about. LOL

@flyingdumbo127, glad you were able to watch your new pastor.

Watching Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist then heading to bed.

@Pea-n-Me I didn't call Ebay, as I can't find the number either. Go to the help and support page. Select buying, then the item you bought should pop up. I think there is a link called 'didn't receive your item', so I would click that. At the bottom of the page will be a box saying contact us..and it gave me the choice to have them call me (something like 8 am-10 pm Pacific Time), They called me within 2 minutes. If you can't find the item you bought under 'my ebay account',,which should be there with the date, time, what you paid, seller et--then go back to help page, and select my account,,and then I clicked the one that said 'if your account has been suspended or something like that',,and do the 'phone me' button again. Hope this makes sense. As long as you have the item number,,they should be able to track it under their information for you. If they don't help..do a charge back with your bank. I have never bought anything over $100, but if the seller cannot prove you received the item, then ebay owes you the money back!

Thanks. My problem was that there was no order history so those links wouldn’t work for me. Nothing was showing up - but thankfully I had screen shots of my purchase! I did finally find a way to email EBay. Hopefully today I hear something. Thank you!

Just heard back from seller. Claims nothing showing in history for him, either. Ugh.

Did you pay through paypal or using a credit card? If paypal, look at transaction history. If credit card, check your account for the transaction for that amount and let your bank do a charge back, if you were actually ever charged for it. Ebay is doing some weird things lately :( I just had the seller of the item I tried to buy, email me apologizing and asking if they could 'send me a new link' ..I wrote back and said if the link I used on ebay doesn't work, sending me a new link will lead to an off ebay sale, and I don't do that. New sellers need to figure out the system before they list items~~
