Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Downer news. DD and both grandkids tested positive for COVID. No symptoms other than the kids with usual daycare snot noses. Because we saw them Sunday, outside with masks, we are getting tested today. Apparently other babies and siblings are testing positive also. DD thinks the daycare is going to have to close. Anxiety ramping up.

We're predicted to get 2-4 inches of snow tonight. It's December, probably about time.

Nice - enjoy! I am hoping we get some measurable snow once or twice this season. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea-

Downer news. DD and both grandkids tested positive for COVID.

That stinks, I'm sorry to hear that - but happy to hear they aren't feeling to poorly. The one kid I know who had it - teenager - bounced back after 24 hours like he hadn't even been sick. Hopefully your grandkids and daughter don't feel any worse than they do now. Fingers crossed for both you & your husband to continue good health and tests come back negative.

Had my hair 'did' last night, was walking in and someone I work with was walking out - she had several inches taken off - it looked great. Then & there I said what the heck, I'd get a few inches off as well! I had been thinking about it, and decided to stay as is, but hers looked great so I did it anyway! Very pleased with how it looks...and I'm very close to my lifetime goal of finally having my hair all one length ::yes:: I'm very happy with how my salon is handling things. Only one hairdresser in there at a time, and only one client in there at a time -with no overlaps - and masks for everyone. It take a bit more effort on everyone's part, but I'm happy to help support a local small business. They have lost about 50% of their business and are just trying to keep the lights on at this point, much like many other small businesses.

Never did get around to making the chicken soup last night, by the time we both got home it ended up being leftovers & scrambled eggs. So this evening will be chicken soup. Does look like the chances of rain have lessened so maybe it won't be quite the washout this weekend.

Have a good Friday morning all -

I’m loving your Disney holiday greetings Lynxstch
Thanks for posting , we got our two very large real trees in the house this week, I’ll post once they are decorated this weekend. I just sad no girlfriends coming for a New Years brunch this year. I’ll have to take a video of the house decorated and maybe drop off some Chex mix or desserts at their homes.
This morning ( my day off ) I’m cleaning out my pantry getting ready for holiday baking and this afternoon running to a local teacher store to look for Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles for my nephew
Here’s to everyone having a productive day !

Christmas-y Dumbo is so cute, Lynxstch! Brings back the memory of when I told a CM at DL that Dumbo ought to wear a Santa hat. She thought that was a good idea. Post plague, I'll have to remind DL of that :)

I will Google "The Repair Shop," thanks, Gwynne and good to see you, too :)

Hug and prayers, all-around, Carol, I'm sure sorry :( Please take care!

Yay, so glad you got your hair done, Easyas123! I sure won't take being able to get a haircut for granted ever again post plague!

I look forward to seeing your pictures, Sparkle! Good to see you back more, too :)

Happy Friday all!

This silly iPad keeps eating my responses when I leave the page for a different tab so since I don’t remember what posts I quoted I’ll just answer in a disjointed fashion, LOL.

First, we had a nice dinner and FaceTime session with the man’s brother and some of his granddaughters. The girls monopolized the technology talking about expected presents, hairstyles, and sharing vids of their family and friends with cartoon animal facial features ( 🤷‍♀️ ). Bro and I faced the fact that we are getting too old to care about stuff like that and switched to a regular audio call, LOL. He told me of the year the two of them plotted to celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas under the mistaken belief they’d get more more presents :lmao:.
I already knew the tale but let him continue since he was in a reminiscing mood .
Earlier in the morning, continued the ongoing pandemic group text chat. Good convo and night all around.

@Breezy_Carol Sorry to hear about your daughter and grandkids testing positive..that sucks. I hope your test comes back negative.

@easyas123 Count me among those who don't want to see measurable snow. I had enough of it when I lived in MA. We had a storm here in Western MD a few years ago. There was literally 3 feet of snow. I do NOT want to see that again. I would like to see a light dusting on Christmas Eve, and it better be gone by Dec 26.

Had to straighten out hubby's HR and finance depts today. They deposited his last pay check, along with vacation check, but 'forgot' to take out double deducations for life ins, health ins, short term disability and vision for the next 2 weeks. We had to write them out a check to cover it and mail it to them. Don't want to get stuck with a huge bill from BCBS saying he didn't have coverage for the last 2 weeks of the year. HR took the blame, said she should have taken care of it, but forgot. I knew everything went too smoothly, lol. At least it was easy to fix

It's sunny and almost 60 out, so I am going out for a walk while it's so nice out. Laundry is done, grocery list is made, so I don't have anything better to do anyhow, lol
Have a nice afternoon all

Hug, NYCgrrl, so glad you enjoyed a fun chat with family.

Continued prayers, Carol, for negative results all-around and that your daughter and grandkids feel much better soon!

Have an afternoon off, Lynxstch and enjoy!

I finished watching "A Godwink Christmas," and "Homecoming for the Holidays." I enjoyed parts of both. I just love all the small friendly towns that come together as family for Christmas in support also of their community. They all seem to hold dear that they are serving the Lord. I feel such a call from God in my heart to one day, should that be His Will, to help infuse that spirit back into my own church.

It's cool out there here! I moved my car across the street for next week's street cleaning. I was quite thankful to get back inside!

:grouphug:

@Breezy_Carol Hope you get a negative result, sorry about the daughter and grandkids.

Good news my grandson is negative, bad news he is still out of work. He's applying for unemployment and going to try and get some side jobs. Now I wish I had ordered everything for the kitchen.

Spending a leisurely day at home. Did run out to get my husband a haircut, he needed it. Then I showed him the new store that opened in our area last week - LIDL. On the order of Aldi but bigger and a better selection of food I think.

Since I was in the area I stopped by the church hall and I was amazed how much was gone. I left early yesterday because my knee was starting to swell. We had 7 or 8 tables of food. There were at least 35 cases of canned goods, fresh fruit and vegies, breads, some meats. Today there are about 15 cases of canned goods, very little bread, no fruit or vegies and the big freezer is almost empty. I said that driving in your car, in your own isolated bubble you don't always see what is going on around you. It's amazing how much need is out there.

Leftovers for dinner tonight with a nice crusty bread. Perfect dinner and will take no time at all. I am exhausted.

Thank you again, TazDev for serving! So glad your grandson is negative that's first and foremost! Prayers for him job-wise.

I am so happy he is negative. I hope he finds a good job with good pay soon. He is such a great young man, if I do say so myself, and he has a baby coming in about 2 months. I would like to see him settled with the ability to care for his family financially.

Just finished a 2.5 mile hike in the woods. Texted with DD and DS about what they think we are allowed to do and not in order to not potentially speed this virus. First thing DS said was we could still hike in Fair Hill. He also offered to come up and grocery shop and deliver for either DD or me on his day off Monday. This is nearly 2 hours one way for him. I was touched.

@flyingdumbo127, I really enjoyed A Godwink Christmas.

@tazdev3225, glad your grandson is negative.

And thank you everyone for your good thoughts. I will keep you updated.

Turkey burgers for dinner tonight, after an adult beverage.

Good afternoon, everyone! So, I've been quiet on here and haven't posted. I've been around but don't have much to add. Honestly, I'm starting to go into depression mode and it worries me. Greater Sac region just started regional stay at home order last night(criteria being icu beds below 15%capacity). As far as I know far Northern CA is now the only region not under the order. This is to last at least 3 weeks. I was supposed to volunteer at the library this morning but got an email yesterday suspending all county library re-openings. They had shut down in March and finally reopened last month, so here we go again.

I got the emergency alert on my phone at noon, I was outside raking in the never ending battle with leaves. I guess I should be happy I was able to get my hair cut on Monday, I hadn't seen the stylist in a year. The weather has turned grey and gloomy, supposed to rain later this afternoon. I'm just so tired of it all, seems like this will never end. I need to go make myself a cup of cocoa and settle in with a cat in my lap, lol. Hope you all are hanging in there and staying well.

@Breezy_Carol - thinking of you and your family.

Prayers for a healthy baby for your Grandson and his wife, TazDev! Hug to you, Grandma, too!

:) I'm glad, Carol. That is so sweet of your son! Please do keep us posted and know we all care!

Hug, Shelley. I hear you from LA where it might be even worse :( So sad all-around. Please take care and enjoy your cocoa and down time, too!

I'm halfway done with Christmas cards! Going to wrap it up soon for today and check out Hallmark :)

My tree is decorated. Demon cat for the most part has ignored the tree so I put some ornaments on the tree. My side is Disney, my husband gets sports. IMG_20201211_192045.jpg
The Mickey is one of my favorites made for me when my 13 year old grandson was about 3.

Full tree with Adso the demon cat on the stairs. He has already pulled one off.

Our thread was really slipping! :(

I really like all your lights, TazDev. How special to have an ornament from a young grand-child.

I have two Christmas movies set to record tonight. The Santa Squad and Christmas With Holly. I hope each of you watches/records something good this weekend.

Have a good evening everyone :)

Good morning everyone. I will be off to do grocery shopping in a little while, hope Walmart and Aldi's aren't packed early in the morning. Just want to get it done and get back home. Going to be in the upper 50's again today, but the nights get very chilly, will be even colder overnite this week, down to 16 a couple of them..yikes!
I still haven't had a chance to watch many of the Christmas movies. Hubby has been trying to clear his shows off the tivo, so we have been binge watching them to get thru them. Then it's my turn, lol
Have a great Saturday everyone, stay safe !145008-Christmas-Disney-Happy-Saturday.jpg
