B&B, that was a nasty fall! Yikes! Maybe you should do what I’m doing and have a piece of a Crumbl cookie for breakfast! :lmao:

Still in my “cave”, as we’ve all called our isolation areas this week. Luckily I got to keep our bedroom cause DH had moved down to the sleeper sofa in the sunroom when he was sick first. He and DD are still on their isolation, DS was able to come off his yesterday. This is crazy. Hoping I can find the energy to take a shower today. I just blew my nose and water came running out of my eye! 😳 I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen before! Head is so congested. Woke up today with my throat on fire. Mine seems to be mostly in my head, as was DS’s. DH and DD have had chest congestion too. Funny how symptoms can be different in people even with the same germ. DS is in the doghouse for bringing it home, lol.

I hope everyone has a good day. 🐥

@Bianca and Bernard --I hope the owner of that restaurant contacts you. There is no excuse for the server not telling you these things earlier, and certainly no excuse for a dirty bathroom (I would be contacting the health department if you get nowhere with the owner). Hope you rest today and that your knees and hip feel better!

Starting to cloud over here, but no rain called for. I took down all my herb boxes, replanted the catnip, chives, and oregano out back in one of the compost piles, and covered them for the winter. They are the only 3 that come back every spring. Moved a few things in the shed, threw out more stuff. Did dishes, and made Don (Mr L) his breakfast..he just got up about 30 minutes ago. I am going to soak in a hot tub , do my hair, maybe put a hair mask and facial mask on, and just relax the rest of the day. Dinner tonite is going to be homemade garlic naan pizza with pepperoni, italian sausage and cheese, and a salad on the side. I got some frozen mixed berry strudel at Aldi's this week, and may cook them up for our snack tonite

Have a good one
I like the Apple Strudel at Aldi's. Usually I will stock up on a few to cook through the winter. There are 2 in the package and I only bake one at a time as 1/2 each is enough for DD and myself. Another pastry I like there are the Frangipane Tarts. I bought apple and cherry, 2 of each and so far have eaten both cherry. I make a nice cup of Ceylon Orange Pekoe to go with this. Cool weather things!

@Bianca and Bernard - so sorry about your fall! Seems to me the owner needs to start checking out his investment. Melting Pot was always a group outing for us but we haven't been since before the event. We've always enjoyed it. But, a dirty restroom is not appreciated. Being out of things is also disappointing. As for the drinks, sounds like extremely inexperienced and untrained staff.

I was just telling my friend how much I fear falling these days. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

The owner called me about 3 hours after I sent the email, and said he had stopped in to the restaurant and the bathrooms were still needing attention. :crazy2: The GM knows I used to work in the business, and wouldn't be complaining if it wasn't a real issue; about 7 years ago, he asked if I wanted to interview for an AGM spot, but DH and I had talked and decided I was content staying at home.

He then put the GM and AGM on conference call with me, and asked me to explain my experience with them last night. The GM actually said "I'm a guy and I don't go into the ladies room at all", trying to explain away why the bathroom was bad; and I (being the outspoken former restaurant GM I am) said "That's not an excuse to not check the cleanliness before or after a shift". The owner laughed, and said exactly right. The owner offered to refund me or to give me something for the next time we're in, and I refused, because I am not looking for anything; I just wanted him to know that things aren't as good as they were before, when he was in almost daily.

Dinner sounds good! DH wanted Chinese, so we ordered from the little place up the street for delivery; there's enough for him for dinner, so I'll just have some chili or a quesadilla and be content. LOL

Sadly, I did not have any cookies here for breakfast, and I was feeling unsteady enough on my knees this morning that I didnt' want to drive to get any. However, I did have a glass of the rum cream I brought home from Belize last night, and it kept me warm and fuzzy all night. DH has discovered Kahlua and cold brew coffee, with a bit of cream, make an amazing brunch drink, lol. I do hope y'all start getting better!

@Judique Yes, falling is a real concern now. It's not the first tumble I've taken in the last few months, and with my sense of balance feeling off, I am trying to be very cautious on movements!

@Pea-n-Me Oof, feel better!

@Snowysmom stay warm! That sucks about the pipes. Is that something you can file a complaint on the realtor or former owner, or something, for non disclosure?

@lynxstch Your stepdaughter is just not having any luck, is she? Poor thing.

@bobbiwoz I made up for it. :rotfl2: I just spent $150 on Drizly (including tip, tax and fees) for the stuff I wanted to get last night. Bailey's apple pie martini is on the menu for tonight...and tomorrow, a Bailey's smores milkshake during some football! DH says we have to be careful...we're moving into college age girl drinks now, with the flavored vodkas and whip shots! :rotfl: I told him that's ok, because I didn't get the college experience, so I should have it now in my 50s. o_O

Hope you are feeling recovered from illness and injury soon, Pea and B&B!

Do you all think the other bowl for $21 or so is closer to a bigger version of the small bowl?
To me, it looks more like a smaller version of the big bowl. It is wide and shallow, with a rim, but is 6 3/4 inches across instead of over 8:

We went to a cool event at DH's lodge yesterday. They opened a time capsule from 100 years ago! There were some old papers and coins, and a really cool letter written from the past brothers to the future ones. (Some parallels between their time and ours were very evident.) There was an amazing "grazing table" before and a traditional turkey dinner after.

Good Sunday Morning to all Quackers.

@DisneyMommyMichelle welcome to our thread. Hope you stick around awhile, we are a friendly and really supportive little group. Hope your Halloween fun went well.

@lynxstch Thanks for sharing the pictures of your granddaughters. And, sorry to hear that your daughter-in-law is not getting anywhere with her medical issues.

@footballmouse Hears sending well wishes for wonderful baby shower today. Hopefully you were able to get in enough of a nap that you will be fully awake and be able to take it all in. On a different note, how did the tattoo come out? Sorry if I missed that along the way.

@flyingdumbo127 No advice on the bowls, but hope you are able to get something figured out so you get exactly what you are looking for.

@Pea-n-Me Sending good thoughts your way that you are feeling better.

Here is the update as of today with the kids. The boys are going over to FH's house this AM for a few hours. I struggle because the temporary order (that we had no say in) says I'm to be flexible. I don't want the court to think I am not. I am literally petrified of messing anything up at this point that will prevent me from the final order being in my favor as far as the kids go. FH knows how to push every button of mine and get me to cave. I am working on that. I also have to tell him I messed up on the day for 4-H. (it is next week not today, my daughter had it written down wrong on the calendar), which makes my stomach churn just thinking about it. Any time I have to communicate with him, I get sweaty and my stomach gets in knots. I keep praying that someday that won't be the case. I have little hope we will ever be one of those sets of parents who become "good friends" down the road or even want to have much of a conversation with each other, outside of what we need to regarding the kids, but I do hope that it will settle enough that I don't want to throw up every time I have to talk to him or text him. He is very manipulative and really does not have the ability to think about anyone but himself. Or, if he is thinking about someone else it's only because he is worried about how they will make him look. It has taken me since he told me he wanted the divorce and hours of therapy to admit that he was verbally and emotionally abusive to me and the kids. I know I was not perfect in our marriage (who is?) and I know I could have done many things differently. I was SO very depressed and anxiety filled that in the end it was all I could do to keep it together for the kids. And that is what I poured myself into, the kids. So, while I know I could have done better and I blame myself for so many things, at the end of the day, he chose, several years ago, to start putting effort and energy into another relationship while pretty much ignoring me and the kids. I begged for counseling and he refused. I asked him to go to dr.s appointments with me to more understand depression and he didn't have time. I am still trying to get out of the fog. And, he now wants to be "Disneyland Dad" to show everyone he is a great parent and is more qualified to have the kids more than I do. I am all for all kids, not just mine, having a healthy relationship with both parents, but so many times that is not that case, and it certainly isn't for me. I don't understand why people can say things like (Frog you are so fortunate to be out from that abuse) but then think that it's ok for kids (mine and kids in general who are in these situations) to be forced to be in it still. No, FH (and I am would bet many other parents, moms and dads) wasn't just awful to me, he was awful to the kids, and even when it was directed only to me, the kids saw the behavior and were being taught it's ok to be treated like that or to treat someone like that. He also had the nerve to tell me that the kids should not be in the middle just because he and I are done, and that they should have a say in their lives...um ok, but he tells my daughter she has to get a court order to even take her own items out of her room at his house or that if she doesn't want to come over she also needs a court order, yet when he wants to see them extra says they should get to choose.

Ok, off my soapbox now, my apologies if I offended anyone, I am super sensitive today.

Take care everyone. I think we have a few who are headed to Disney soon?

@Pea-n-Me I hope you feel better soon. The head congestion sounds awful. Your DS must feel bad about bringing it home but honestly, it is everywhere now as you well know. A cookie for breakfast sounds yummy.

@Bianca and Bernard So sorry about your fall. I am so glad you followed up with the owner. Now hopefully things will change for the better at that restaurant. I hope you get better and take good care of yourself. Falling is scary. It makes me nervous.

@lynstch Your DGDs are lovely young ladies. So grown up.

Another cold morning, 39 out when I got up with temps going into the low 60s. Temp here in the condo is around 70. Cold shower is not fun but it is quick. Kenny told me to come to his place anytime if it gets too much for me. This condo complex has had some issues and had to sue the contractor for sprinkler system issues in other buildings. It has been resolved and all buildings inspected. This happened before I bought. Now the pipe issue is something they can probably say is wear and tear even though the system is only 7 years old. The previous owner of this condo did the yearly maintenance on all systems. The plumber did say these are odd systems and some parts are wearing out after 7-8 years. This will teach me not to listen to my gut. Next place, my gut is taking first place in what and who I listen to. I listened to my kids and friend. I will listen to their advice next time but I will definitely be more cautious. I will not buy anything made by this builder again. I have my plan to talk with the real estate agent after the Disney trip and get her advice on when to list and buy. She knows the market and according to Kenny is very good. I have done my due diligence and researched her and everything looks really good.

Kenny and I went to Bernie and Phyls yesterday to look at couches. He bought one for his living room as soon to be ex took the couch in that room. I found a sleeper sofa that I like but it looks like it isn't available for a while. I have a second one that I liked too so maybe I will end up getting that one. We also talked yesterday and Kenny is now aware of how I feel and I am aware of how he processes grief. He admits he bottles it up and that he has been so busy since Dad passed that he really hasn't been able to address it much. Interestingly one of the first things Kenny did after Chris passed as make a collage of Dad pictures for his family room wall. It is a lovely tribute to Chris.

Jeff just called to say the kids are sick. Youngest DGD is croupy and congested so going to the doctor in a bit. It is good to get it over with before the trip but I feel bad they are sick. They all tested negative for covid. Colds are going around now. I am not going to see them today. Jeff and I are going out to lunch so it will be good to see him.

Have a good day.

Good cold morning. It was 32 degrees outside, and we had a hard frost (birdbath is frozen over) last night.

I never did get a nap in yesterday, so was really tired. Went to bed about 9:30, and fell asleep. A little later I hear Don (Mr L) yelling at me. I , half awake, get up and ask what's wrong. He tells me there's someone at the door. At 11:30 on a Saturday night? I started heading for the back door,,he says, no they are pounding on the front door. I turned the porch light on and looked out the window. I saw 2 very clean cut teenage boys standing there. I thought maybe they needed help, so I opened the front door a little and asked what they wanted. They ask if we have an IPhone charger? HUH? They are walking around on our road , which has no streetlights, stopping at houses that have lights on to ask for a phone charger? I said no we didn't, (we don't have IPhones, we have Androids), told them to try Sheetz, who as far as I know still sells them) and closed the door. What the heck..did they think if someone did have one, that they were going to let them in to sit there and let their phones charge? If they hadn't been such decent, well dressed kids, I wouldn't have even opened the door to ask. But if they had needed help, in an emergency, I would have felt awful if I had just ignored them. I did tell Don never to do that again. To just turn the light off in the living room, turn the tv off,,and ignore whoever was banging at that hour of the night. Sheesh. Took me forever to fall back asleep again, as a result , it was almost 8:30 when I woke up this morning, I can't remember sleeping that late in years!

Today I am going to cut back the peony's, cut back the spearmint, clean and put the birdbath and fountain away for the winter, and close up the ac.

I am going to put a whole seasoned chicken in the crock pot for dinner, and have stuffing, acorn squash and cranberry sauce for dinner tonite.

Have a nice morning all

@frog3101 :grouphug: So sorry things are the way they are. Your FH has a nerve to say he doesn't want the kids in the middle when that is all he is doing and he knows it. He is just being manipulative again. I hope you are documenting all this for your attorney. I really wish the kids could talk to the judge and tell their stories. I also hope you can get to the point of not feeling anxious and sick every time you have to communicate with your FH. Maybe once you have a final agreement and everyone has to abide by it, you will feel that you are able to relax a bit and communicate without any issues. You are in my prayers and thinking of you for a fair agreement that is good for the kids.

I would not like being woken up like that either!

Did the boys explain why they needed the charger? I'm guessing maybe car trouble and needing to call home? When you said you didn't have one, I wonder why they didn't just ask you to call someone for them?

No..all they asked was if we had one. I didn't see a car in our driveway or parked across the street. Now that you mention it, wonder why they didn't ask me to call someone. If I had been fully awake, I would have asked that question!

Happy Sunday dear friends,

Thank you all so much again for your bowl suggestions and kind words. I will be calling You Customize It in the morning. I may email them once more today simply because I feel badly for a hasty message initially. No need for them to expend time reading that when I can clarify better in a new email. The design on the big bowl is lovely. The bowl itself is just so very heavy. I will absolutely keep all of you posted on what happens.

Dad will shortly be off to Target where he will do some shopping plus get his flu shot. Keeping in🙏that goes well. This afternoon, he will go to Pavilions for regular shopping and to hopefully pick up freshly made sugar cookies that will be put into belated birthday treat bags for Barbara Ann and Linda. Dad will be dropping them off at church for easy pick up tomorrow morning on his way to Walmart. I will also have cookies and other things for a few other people at church including Glenda, so this will work out just great, very grateful.

Love the “feel better days” image, PollyannaMom! Extra :hug:and thank you on the bowl. Wow! What an awesome celebration to get to be part of at the lodge! I would love to take part in a time capsule opening at a meaningful to me place. Did you (or anyone else on here) ever participate in contributing to one? Wasn’t there a Hallmark Christmas movie about a newspaper office in which the town opened a time capsule? A million percent your kind and wise words to Frog, too!

Huge :grouphug:, dear Frog. This needs to stop now. Abuse is actively going on toward you and the kids. You (and the kids) have documentation of accrual incidents it sounds like of it. Multiple horribly. I don’t see how it would simply be a case of 100% “his word against yours.” I just feel awful that all of you are caught up in this unhealthy cycle. Much prayer and love.

Always a loving :hug:to you, Snowysmom. Prayers for your grandson to feel better! Buildings (especially older but not always) that are poorly but and not maintained, often are also not up to code. All three are certainly the issue with the building dad and I are in. You have a sound and wise moving forward plan. So very many prayers all of your family is healthy before leaving for WDW!

Oh, my goodness, dear Lynn! :grouphug: X so very many that you and Don are safe! I would have been :scared1:Yikes! Not sure opening the door was such a good idea but beyond thankful the teenage boys were harmless! Please don’t do that again!

Wishing you a happy Sunday, DisneyMommyMichelle:flower2:. Truly glad you have joined us!

I shall check back later. Wishing all a peaceful day!
