Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

@Pea-n-Me We just want to get Joe's wallet, keys, iPad , phone etc at the hospice. I know they will lock those items up. The clothes we are probably going to throw out as I don't think he bought any new clothes in the past 10 years. They are pretty threadbare. He could afford them but just didn't want to. There is an afghan that his mother knit that I want to give to his sister after I wash it. We may stop by tomorrow after the funeral and find out. It sounds like your DD is a good and caring nurse just like her mother.

Thunderstorms coming in now. It is getting darker and a few rumbles here and there. Lunch with my friend was nice. We go to the same place called Christopher's most times we go out. They are a breakfast/lunch place but I usually get breakfast. Great omelettes and I love toast with orange marmalade. We eat and chat and chat and eat.

Have a good evening.

:thanks:as always, Pea. I will PM you a little later :) To clarify for all, I apologize for not being clearer earlier. Our desktop is what has the speakers not the TV. TV is just a regular old Smart Tv that sometimes still does strange things like turning on by itself! :hug:extra to you as well!

Just an extra :grouphug:Snowysmom.

Warmly quiet afternoon here. Dad, thank God has been safely home from Friday errands. Kind dentist's office just rescheduled my 🦷cleaning which was next Thursday to the following week. I already made note on the calendar to bring him and his staff Christmas cookies or some treat at my November visit since I wouldn't be going back until after mid-January 2023. I go every two months to make cleanings very short and easier on me. I still, always will, miss my retired dentist. He really was the best. The new dentist is certainly appreciated too!

Dad needs to go back to his new dentist for a follow-up this coming Thursday the 1st which is why I needed to reschedule. Where my dentist is located on a busy street, it is much easier for me to be dropped off out front by dad. They do have a very small parking lot that is not accommodating to turning around once you are in it! Very tight quarters. Since his office is just a few minutes from the Dollar Tree, it also makes sense that way to have dad take me so he can quickly go there while I'm at the dentist. Dad just wants to be sure all is okay with the filling he had and that that tooth doesn't need a crown. We're hoping the filling may just need to be filed down a bit. 🙏this visit goes well for him and that he really does feel comfortable with and trusting of his new dentist.

🌸and a hug to all!

@Pea-n-Me Thanks for the suggestion on possibly being a tick bite. Am messaging her right now to ask if they tested for it.
@Snowysmom --glad the visit with Joe's sister went well.
@flyingdumbo127 Thanks for asking. Mr L is still about the same. He always feels better in the morning than at night.

Got hold of handyman. He had gotten an estimate from the gutter company, so I called them and placed the order. They will deliver everything Monday afternoon.

I have a question for you. The handyman does NOT overcharge people for the work he does, in fact he undercharges. He told me it would be $150 labor for all 4 doors and $100 for putting up the gutters. Now that is way too low, and we are obviously going to pay him more than that. Mr L is thinking more like $1000, I am saying more like $500-600--any opinions from any of you that might help? He doesn't charge by the hour, just by the job. But 2 of those doors were a pain in the you know what to get in. TIA

Dinner is homemade garlic naan pizza's and salad

We had 2 rumbles of thunder, it got black , then sunny, is now gray and icky looking

Have a nice rest of the afternoon and evening

Just a quick hello.

Went down the shore yesterday and that was not one of my better trips. My phone was not working at all, although I could access internet. Just couldn't call or receive calls and no messaging. It was extremely frustrating. Thankfully we got home in time for me to get to the T-Mobile store and get a new SIM card. That seems to have done the trick as it is working great today. Crystal also had a major meltdown to the point that she got sick a few times. She had a panic attack over hot sand. I told her today she needs to get over these things. It's August, it was 95 degrees and its sand. Of course, it was hot, we all had unhappy feet. What didn't help is my back started bothering me. We also ran into 2 very serious accidents; I think one was a fatality - pedestrian vs car and the car was heavily damaged. I'm glad the girls didn't notice. The other accident closed my way home, so I had to detour. Just a long and not fun day. I did find some great shells and I think I got some good pictures on the beach though, so that is always a positive. I promised them one more trip before things close completely. We are choosing a different beach than the one we normally go to though. The walk from the boardwalk to the ocean in Wildwood has to be a half mile. At least it seems like it anyway. The beach there is free though, so we head there all summer.

Crystal has gone for an interview a second time and again no managers from corporate ever showed up. I think she will get the job, she goes again Sunday, because the store opened yesterday, and they already had a lot of call outs and no shows. She spoke to the store manager who couldn't even open today. I was a little upset by it. I have a 20% off coupon and wanted to get some Hocus Pocus stuff for my Disney Trip. I decided to attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Thank you for the prayers and keep them coming. My daughter's BFF's husband had his second surgery today to reset his legs. He has multiple fractures so it's going to be a long road to recovery. That and they live in a second-floor apartment so I don't think he will be able to go home til he can get around a little bit more on his own. That's going to be hard on all of them.

@lynxstch - I asked my grandson what he thought about the handyman, and he thinks Mr. L is closer to a good figure. The person he worked for charged over $1500 a door and that was a couple of years. Hope that helps.

Have a nice evening

Of course, Lynn! Extra prayers for Mr. L! What a nice handyman and how kind of you and Mr. L to want to compensate him more fairly. Will you be seeing him again later in the year? Asking because an idea I just had was possibly to get him a gift card to some local store that you think he'd enjoy as a Christmas gift. Of course, it is not even September yet and you might (probably) don't want to wait that long. Just a thought. Enjoy your 🍕

:grouphug:Taz, I'm sorry your trip wasn't better. Prayers for Crystal all-around. YAY that you are attending something extra at ::MickeyMoWDW. Phone prayers as well! Get some rest tonight please!

I had a surprise brief visit not long ago with Terri. She was once again in my neighborhood visiting her elderly friend. She had told me last week that was trying to go through a lot of her own stuff for a possible donation to a homeless shelter she and I (thanks to God's call and way along with for me, help from His angel Terri to help) have been blessed to contribute to. She had shared that if she got enough together that the shelter would do a pickup for her. Blessing to be able to get together a variety of things and know it will be used by the shelter in some way. Also gave her a bag of 📚for the Discovery Shop. That truly brightened my afternoon to be able to do. Extra thankful to God that He allows me even from home to in a tiny way, I pray, serve. All Glory to Him always and He knows I don't want the recognition ever. So, an added meaningful aspect for me to this is being able to do so more anonymously :)

I did try watching more of Kiss at Pine Lake. Next! Oh well. some movies like books as all of you know, are better than others!

Have a good evening, everyone!

Good morning, all!

"Walking" the cats, and thankfully it's much cooler than yesterday. The hummingbirds were bold this morning, and flew quite near to us. It was fun watching the cat's reaction.

Once I bring the second kitty back inside, I'll get ready for the day. We plan to go out for breakfast, and then I need to help DS sort through a few more things to finish packing.

Good morning all. Nice and cool outside now, but will be near 90 again later. I need to get outside and weedwack inside and outside the garden before it gets too hot. There are still so many tomatoes out there! Also a lot of morning glories. I planted them in boxes in the side yard a few years ago, and somehow more and more seeds find themselves into the garden every summer. I have 2 corners of the fence that look like an explosion of morning glories, lol.

@flyingdumbo127-to answer your question about the handyman. No we won't be seeing him for a long time after Sept 6. He is having surgery to replace vertebrae in his neck. He will be in a halo thing and won't be able to move much for 6-8 weeks. That's why we want to pay him more than he is asking for

I am off to strip and remake the bed and then get outside

Have a nice morning

I hope you enjoyed your breakfast out, PollyannaMom! :hug:I'm very grateul you have been able to spend this extra time closer with your son. He is sure blessed to have you in his life.

🙏for your handyman, Lynn! Poor guy. Very kind of you and Mr. L to let him know all the extra you appreciate him! Thank you for doing that.

I just enjoyed some🥞for breakfast. It's a cooler morning here, too. Getting some mail together for dad to take to the post office shortly. Then, thankfully, he will be home for the rest of the day.

Have a good Saturday, everyone 🐥🌸 I will be back later.

Quiet day on our thread! 🙏all of you are enjoying a good one. We did just get an expected Amazon package and are waiting on some cans of whole cranberries for dad from Walmart. Regular mail looks to be all solicitations, oh well. Grateful, of course, for all deliveries these days extra. Very thankful that our upstairs neighbor doesn't seem to be home so it's quiet from there and almost better there have been no spam calls today (I don't think). That is always a blessing. Waiting for Barbara Ann to call me back. I'll check back here later :)

It's been a busy couple of days. Granddaughter arrived Thursday. Friday oldest DD had breast reduction surgery. So I went from one hospital to the other and then spent the night with DD and grands so DSiL could work today.

I'm bushed and ready for my own bed and supper! Youngest DD is making steak sandwiches and I'm ready to eat.

It's been fairly quiet around here the last couple of days.

Lil Joe face planted on the patio yesterday evening. We have an old swing set A frame that belonged to my mom and dad. DH is having a swing made for it and has it sitting on our patio so he doesn't have to mow around it. Lil Joe was standing in a chair and reached over to grab the top bar of the A frame to swing on it. He swung back to the chair and it moved just as he lost his grip. His forehead and nose is all skinned up. DD was supposed to go on a date last night but she stayed home just in case. He is recovered fully, outside running around at the moment. She caught him earlier getting ready to do the same thing but stopped him before he could grab the top bar.

It's almost been a week and no word from DD's ex. He hasn't sent her any demeaning texts or face timed the kids. It's just about as stressful to not hear anything as it is to hear from him because we know that this will not last. He has done this before and then hit her hard. We just count our blessings for each day that he doesn't contact her.

I finished watching The Most Hated Man On The Internet on Netflix last night. I think that's the correct name. I had no idea that this was going on 10 years ago. Horrible stuff.

Looks like my account has been frozen on Facebook. I think it's because I have been deleting the ads when I see them. It's been telling me for over 24 hours that "I'm all caught up". I know for sure that I have friends that are posting. I can post and people can answer, it just doesn't show up in my feed. I have a message on there that I need to join some more groups, make new friends, etc.

:grouphug:Judique, prayers you enjoyed your dinner and have a good night's rest 🛏️ ITA, that sleeping in your own familiar bed makes all the difference!

:grouphug:always to you as well, dear Kirby and 🙏that Lil Joe is okay and always for a peaceful resolution with your DD's Ex!

Sweet Dreams, my dear Quacker Family 🌃

Good morning, Quackers!

I'm really starting to notice the later sunrises now. - The kitty is cuddling me on the sofa instead of asking to go out. 🤣

DS made it safely to his roommate's house yesterday, and they will continue on to Maine today. :car:

It is also my in-laws' anniversary 💗💕💗

I'm watching the news, and the new space program sounds exciting! 🪐

Good morning Quackers. I think we are due for some rain today. We really need some, so I hope it pans out. Can't believe next weekend is Labor Day. Time is really flying.

@Kirby I totally get what you mean about it's almost worst not hearing. I am living a constant state of defensive mode, even on days I don't hear from my soon to be former husband, I am tense and on alert for the other "shoe to drop".

@Judique Hope you have been able to give Quinn lots of grandma snuggles.

@Snowysmom I hope that Joe's service went well.

I think the kids and I are going to do a bit of shopping later today. My oldest has some gift cards she wants to use and my youngest needs a few items for when his flag football season starts. We shall see. I really would like to head back to bed. I just am not sleeping worth a hoot.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good morning all. Yet another hot, sunny, 90 degree day on tap. Did everything that needed to be done outside already, while it's still fairly cool. Hard to believe that this is the last weekend of August, where did the summer go to?

@PollyannaMom I know what you mean about the sun rising later and cats. Mine have finally figured out that I want to sleep until it comes up, and have stopped sitting on me at 5 am, lol!

@frog3101 continued prayers for all of you. Hope you get some retail therapy in today!
@Snowysmom thinking of you and hoping the service went well.

@Kirby yikes to Little Joe. He could have been hurt a lot worse--kids are daredevils sometimes--I delete, report, and block ads on FB all the time and haven't had any issues with them freezing my account. I don't think they can tell if you are deleting the ads anyhow?

@Judique --hope your daughter isn't in a lot of pain

Have a nice morning all

DGD got lots of snuggles! I held her pretty much the whole time I was there. She had to stay again at hospital last night due to billyrubins/jaundice. That's taking a toll on Son who is wanting to be out of there. But, he's sleeping on a chair couch thingy in the room and is a tall guy. Still, for his wife and daughter he would stay as long as needed.

Ex and wife will arrive this Wednesday for just shy of two weeks. They will be staying in a hotel midway between DS and DD who are not too far apart. Works for me! DD needs some help right now and she will give them projects, lol. They are very helpful which DD appreciates.

On the other hand, Son and wife prefer more privacy. We will see how that goes. I offered my help and it was accepted, plus funded some delivery food meals for them for the next few weeks, to combine with the foods they prepared and froze in advance. If they need house cleaning, we can get Flora to do kitchen/bathrooms/floors. She is very good and reasonable and lives not too far.

Older DD is uncomfortable but not in too much pain. She was given pain meds and has been using them but switched out the oxyc. for tylenol after the first couple of doses with her doctor's blessing. Same as me, some medications nauseate her and she had to take anti nausea med to be able to take the stronger pain med. She tried to take the pill without the antinausea pill and immediately had projectile vomiting which is what I've experienced.

With the tylenol she is fine. Just for specifics, she's wanted and needed this surgery for years. She's a tall girl, 5 feet 9 and not tiny at this point in life, but has always been very large. She wanted to wait until after having kids to do the surgery and then kids didn't happen right away and eventually she had to have multiple (3?) surgeries (at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore) to correct a heart shaped uterus. Many miscarriages before that surgery and finally getting an actual diagnosis of the problem.

I'm tidying my house and cleaning cat litter pans, plus swiffering and vacuuming. Amazing how much litter can get loose in a day and a half! I keep the electrolux ready to go in my kitchen as there is a spare nook it fits in, and with the wide hardwood in that area it will get the crevices. Plus the cat and dog hair. Swiffer products were also on sale at Costco last time and this time in the little sales book so I'm stocking up for the year. I like all of the products for daily dusting and sweeping/damp mopping bathroom tile as I can toss the cloths and not deal with stinky mops, lol.

Younger DD is not a housekeeper. I've decided to tolerate this as I really benefit from having her live here. But sometimes it's difficult and my tongue gets bit, lol. Empty paper towel cardboard tube on the counter 1 foot from the recycle bin. Dirty cat food tins in my sink. Cat litter. One cat drinks so much and waters the litter a lot and if its not scooped daily it is tracked in the wet form as well as dry. She is oblivious. But, anything I need she is there and it's a small price to pay, plus she would rather pay for the housecleaner to come then do it herself. I'm the opposite - I want the house clean when they come, but probably can't keep cleaning forever.

@Judique Glad you got in some cuddle time with the new DGD. I hope your DD does well after the surgery. Hope you can relax a bit.

@frog3101 I hope you can have a nice time shopping with the kids. Not being able to sleep is tough. Have you tried meditation? Sometimes it helps.

@tazdev3225 I hope Crystal gets the job. She sounds like she would be a good employee to have.

Joe's funeral mostly went well yesterday. The funeral home and staff were excellent. So kind and helpful. Chris' and Joe's families have had the family funerals from this place since the 50's I believe. Joe had some friends come which was so nice. He was a retired hairdresser so people from the salon he worked at came. Friends he knew from high school came. The family attending were the kids and me as well as 2 cousins. There is not alot of family left. 2 cousins just disappeared and don't want to be contacted. Nothing happened, they just decided to opt out of the family. Chris' sister also opted out of the family so we have not seen her in decades. Family drama. We had chats with Joe's friends and found out more about Joe's life. It was nice to catch up with the cousins I don't see often. I do talk with one fairly frequently. The issue came with the deacon from the church. He was late and the church did not bother to call the funeral director to let him know. The deacon was at another funeral, this one a Mass. When he got to the funeral home he was not really prepared. He had to ask my son "What's the guys name?" Well, Joe's name was right outside the room on a board. Then he read from his book, stopped, paged through the book for about 2 minutes to look for the next section, spoke again, then paged through the book for another minute or 2. He seemed distracted and not really paying attention to the service. One of Joe's friends said out loud, "This is awful." While I agree, she should have been tactful and waited until the service was over. Honestly, while the guy was paging through his book so often, I smiled and pictured Joe, Chris, and Joe's mother laughing like crazy at what was going on. His mother especially would think it was funny. It gives us a story to tell about the funeral anyway. God doesn't care how we get to him, just that you led a good life. The cemetery service went well and the staff at the cemetery were kind. Unfortunately on the way home Chris cousin fell asleep at the wheel and grazed the guardrail on Rt. 93. He knew he was tired and was going to stop at the next rest area a mile down the road. He woke up when he grazed the railing and was able to get under control and to the rest area. He was fine, his truck has a scrape and the wheels need a bit of work. I yelled at him for that. We all said at the the funeral that we do not need another one of these gatherings for a long time. My younger DS, DDIL, and I went out of lunch after the funeral. Older DS went home as he is just out of quarantine from covid. Plus he was picking up the kids as he will have them for the week.

I am a not doing real well with everything that has been going on. I am mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. You would think I could sleep but I am having alot of trouble. My therapist is back from vacation so I will be touching base with her Tuesday to make an appt. Alot has happened since I last saw her. Tomorrow is time with older DS and DGSs so it will be a nice break. Getting some errands done today as well as housework and I may work a bit since I had Friday off and then tomorrow off. Time to do walk #2. The weather is nice today, not too warm, and sunny.

Have a good Sunday.

Good Morning Quackers 🐣

It is hard to believe that next week is September! When I talked with Barbara Ann last night, she brought up her birthday which is in early October. A new season is definitely coming. Some days still feel timeless to me. All are a blessed joy for which I truly give God thanks.

Quiet Sunday here. Waiting a little while for online worship to become available to watch. Time difference between CA and DE can be most handy in this way because soon after I am up and online church is over out there. All good. Waiting for one Amazon package of Christmas postcards. We had some Coinstar credit on Amazon this week so I used part of that to just get these cards now. Postcards are fun and also a way to save on ever increasing postage. FYI: Buy extra stamps before December when stamps will go up yet again :( It's such a blessing to send mail of I pray faithful cheer when I am able. Tiny way to serve from home :) Remember all of you, to please PM me if you would like a postcard. I have some pretty seasonal scene cards.

:hug:PollyannaMom and prayers and safe travels for your DS and his roommate. May indeed they both enjoy a safe, fun, and enriching new school year. LOVE the duckies! Happy Anniversary to your in-laws!

Frog🕊️ and always a hug and prayers. Please get some rest and take care of yourself! I hope if you do go shopping it provided some down time and just a fun experience. Remember, some shopping can also be done at home online. Peaceful Tales is a book that my elderly friend Ruth told me about when we talked yesterday. She has said it has truly helped her. I am glad it has. I know nothing else about it and have not tried it firsthand. Just thought it you might want to look into it.

Psalm 94:19: In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.

Timothy 1:7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

When I was in college, a lifetime it seems ago now lol, it also helped me to listen to Shepherd Moons by Enya. I have not listened to this probably in a good 20 years. At one time I did enjoy some of the peaceful music on it such as "How Can I Keep from Singing?" and "Caribbean Blue."

:wave:with a :hug:dear Lynn! Love the ::MinnieMo picture. Prayers that you and Mr. L are both feeling well today!

Grandma Judique, cherish:lovestruc every snuggle with Quinn! I know you do, my friend. Please also get some rest. 🙏for your DD.

Just ❤️and:grouphug:dear Snowysmom.

Love to all and Happy Sunday!

Trying to get some stuff done as I am going to DD's later and then tomorrow she will have an appointment here in my area, so I'll be busy tomorrow as well as today. Plus I need to refresh the girls bedroom so that she can rest for a bit in it if necessary when I bring her back here, in between dropping girls to school (first day) going to her appointment, then getting back up the beltway for the girls dismissal and pickup.

In order to get under the furniture I started pushing it aside and then decided to rearrange it. Now I'm full scale moving stuff with younger DD's help. I need to stop this and relax a bit! Off to the fridge to look for some lunch!

I gave myself "the week off" last week to adjust being back from vacation, but I had to have a bit of a conversation with myself on responsibilities 🤣. I am stuck on a work project that I can't seem to get ahead on, so I find that completing some short-term projects help with the motivation (cleaning, gardening and repairs!). Time to clean the house, get ready for a houseguest who is coming on Weds, and get to some of the house projects that normally we do in the spring, but the rain never let up and we didn't get the decks, railings, and stairs done.

DS and I sanded all the cedar caprails down to bare wood (big job!) and I just need to give them a light going over before staining them today. I also scrubbed the front porch decking and readied it for stain. I've started saying to DS - "hey, let's go take care of your house, OK?".

I have rot in a couple of cedar treads, so it's a big job that I've been avoiding. I have to take the stair treads apart completely, sand them all down, stain them, and replace two that are rotted. BIG job. My ex has some really good tools (he's a builder), so I'm heading over to borrow them today. It should be a couple of days' work, but oh my - if I had to pay someone to do it - yikes! Labour is soooo expensive these days.

Anyway, I like Soarin’ better! :lovestruc But some of the newer technology is really amazing!
I love Soarin' - and I love that they change it over the years, so it's a new experience. The transitions between the scenes made me jump in my seat every time!
I keep the electrolux ready to go in my kitchen as there is a spare nook it fits in
Oh how I wish I had a spare nook! Mine is in the front hallway, not exactly unobtrusive, but at least available. I'm on a couple of breeder's lists for a puppy, but it will be awhile and I know the Dyson will become an important part of that journey!
he's sleeping on a chair couch thingy in the room and is a tall guy
Congrats on the DGD! I love the name Quinn. My ex is 6'2" and I remember how horrible it was for him to sleep there - you'd think they would have evolved to recognise that partners stay with the mums and also need a good night's sleep. Those sleeping chairs are brutal!
The funeral home and staff were excellent.
Good on you for seeing the bright side of the service and the laughs it would have brought. Let's hope this is the beginning of a period of peace, healing and growth
It is hard to believe that next week is September!
I KNOW!!! The summer was so slow to start and I was away for work and vacation for almost all of August - I barely spent any time at home, on the deck or in the garden. Let's hope for a long, sweet fall before the winter sets in.
