I gave myself "the week off" last week to adjust being back from vacation, but I had to have a bit of a conversation with myself on responsibilities

. I am stuck on a work project that I can't seem to get ahead on, so I find that completing some short-term projects help with the motivation (cleaning, gardening and repairs!). Time to clean the house, get ready for a houseguest who is coming on Weds, and get to some of the house projects that normally we do in the spring, but the rain never let up and we didn't get the decks, railings, and stairs done.
DS and I sanded all the cedar caprails down to bare wood (big job!) and I just need to give them a light going over before staining them today. I also scrubbed the front porch decking and readied it for stain. I've started saying to DS - "hey, let's go take care of your house, OK?".
I have rot in a couple of cedar treads, so it's a big job that I've been avoiding. I have to take the stair treads apart completely, sand them all down, stain them, and replace two that are rotted. BIG job. My ex has some really good tools (he's a builder), so I'm heading over to borrow them today. It should be a couple of days' work, but oh my - if I had to pay someone to do it - yikes! Labour is soooo expensive these days.
Anyway, I like Soarin’ better!

But some of the newer technology is really amazing!
I love Soarin' - and I love that they change it over the years, so it's a new experience. The transitions between the scenes made me jump in my seat every time!
I keep the electrolux ready to go in my kitchen as there is a spare nook it fits in
Oh how I wish I had a spare nook! Mine is in the front hallway, not exactly unobtrusive, but at least available. I'm on a couple of breeder's lists for a puppy, but it will be awhile and I know the Dyson will become an important part of that journey!
he's sleeping on a chair couch thingy in the room and is a tall guy
Congrats on the DGD! I love the name Quinn. My ex is 6'2" and I remember how horrible it was for him to sleep there - you'd think they would have evolved to recognise that partners stay with the mums and also need a good night's sleep. Those sleeping chairs are brutal!
The funeral home and staff were excellent.
Good on you for seeing the bright side of the service and the laughs it would have brought. Let's hope this is the beginning of a period of peace, healing and growth
It is hard to believe that next week is September!
I KNOW!!! The summer was so slow to start and I was away for work and vacation for almost all of August - I barely spent any time at home, on the deck or in the garden. Let's hope for a long, sweet fall before the winter sets in.
