Happy Tuesday all...

I've been having the same problem getting on the boards as @lynxstch posted about...
A lot of us are getting 'server not available' or "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable".
I thought maybe I was having bad luck with the times I was trying so just moved on to something else until the next time I tried and same thing.

Busy couple of days...DH left for Toronto for work on Sunday. I was really wishing I could've gone with him but it was sort of last minute so my ticket would've been just too much. If he goes again sometime soon, I'll go then. Never been to Toronto, or anywhere in Canada for that matter.

Spent alot of time in the pool the last couple days. It's been really hot here (100°+ temps). Poor Buddy has been wanting to hang out in his favorite spot in the backyard(shaded but still...)but it's been too hot for him. At night, he's been getting super antsy and wants to go out after I've gone to bed so he's been waking me up more than usual.

I only really skimmed over the pages I've missed(so much...:guilty: ) so I apologize if I've missed anything.

:grouphug: to you all, especially those that could really use them.

Good morning everyone ☀️

Out with my cat, who is listening to the cat across the street begging her people to let her in. 😿

Other than that, nothing going on. We finally got some good rain last night, so everything feels clean but wet.

Here's this morning's Blue Jay:

Good morning all. I am not late, that stupid error thing happened again. It was down from 6-9 last nite, and down from 7-just now.
@PollyannaMom Your cat is so pretty, can't believe how much one of mine looks like her! he could be her brother, lol!
Its going to be hot again today. That rain we got yesterday for about 45 min did a lot of good for the garden. Trash is out, waiting for Mr L to finish getting dressed so we can go do errands and grocery shopping.
@flyingdumbo127 --I like the bowl, good choice!
@AuntieMe3 --glad to see your post, we've missed you! Stay cool!

Have a great morning all. Back later on, unless the DIS error screen comes up again :(

Edited to add,,I just checked the tech board about the problem, and Webmaster Alex posted this around 5 last night.

He said----"So I think we may have an answer here. We do our DNS through a very respected old time company, they have been doing it since the beginning of the internet. Obviously I had contacted them when all this started and they assured me they checked and everything was fine. It must be other people's servers not updating. I contacted them today and was informed that "some people appear to be having similar issues" and that their engineering team will investigate. I will let you know when I get more details. "

Around midnite he posted this --"I will follow up with them tomorrow and eventually move DNS to somewhere else. Trying to do it now would just make things worse I suspect"

Happy Wednesday! :sunny:

I'm back from vacation. It was a really nice, fun and relaxing trip. Perfect weather and no issues at the airport ✈️. My animals definitely missed me, happy to see them. The only pictures I took were of the sunsets and the other one is rain in the distance, I thought that was pretty cool.

My Ds2 proposed on Sunday night to his girlfriend and she said yes, so we have a wedding in the future 🤵‍♂️👰‍♀️. They've been talking about a destination wedding to a beach but we'll see.

I got home Monday night and unpacked and did a load of laundry :laundy:. I took off work yesterday also so I was able to get the house cleaned up, watered the flowers, went to the grocery store and even scheduled an hour work out. Tonight's agenda includes cutting the grass. We haven't had much rain so I haven't cut the grass in about 2 weeks 😳.

Pollyanna your cat is beautiful!

Sorry I missed commenting on people's post but I didn't go back through the 6 pages that I missed. Have a great day!

Adding myself to the error squad: a first time for me. Usually I'm not included in some of the issues reported, which are sometimes phone and app related. I use a laptop and multiple browsers plus an ad blocker. I also rarely 'unblock' when requested by companies. Switching to multiple browsers did nothing with this HttP error.
It's an 'oh well' situation for me.

I will add that another disboards group set up an alternate private group on Redditt to possibly bypass this type of thing on the off chance that all got denied site entry for an excessive time. Reddit itself is scary but setting up a private group with your own mods can facilitate communication when everyone doesn't wish to go to private email, which causes other problems as no one truly knows whether the 'friendly person' is the one selling your contact info to the dark side.

Got a lot to get done so huggs and best wishes to all!

So weird, I’ve only seen that message a couple of times, and when I did, it only lasted a couple of minutes. I haven’t had trouble logging on other than that. I hope they can find a fix.

Have been a little busy with work project, but managed to get out for a romp with the dogs yesterday though we were all HOT! Brought some ice water with me so that helped. Took a little nap in the AC when I came home. @PollyannaMom your picture also reminded me that I’d sat out on my front porch yesterday morning to get a little sun on my face and said my mini-rosary while out there. The dogs enjoy it, too, like your beautiful cat! Love the bird pics!

Keep forgetting to do the corn, hope to get them done tonight. Last night we made eggplant parm with shells and meatballs we’d frozen previously, and a little garlic bread. It was good. We didn’t want to fry the eggplant so we cut it thin lengthwise and baked it. We all enjoyed the taste but it was still a little firm. We might either try using zucchini next time (I love zucchini parm!)) or baking the eggplant slices first before layering. We’ll see. DS had a late meeting then a softball game so he ate late, but he loved the eggplant even though it was firm,, lol. (We layered with olive oil, garlic slices, panko bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, mozzarella and sauce.)

I forgot to post this yesterday but the other day I was by that beach I told you about which was the first drive-on beach DH had taken me to, so I thought I’d take a picture for you guys. Hopefully it fits here as one was a panoramIc.

Good - they came out. First is a view of the peninsula in the background. It’s a long beach with houses on it, but soft sand around much of it to drive on. At the left end you can see a small lighthouse (pretty sure it’s called Bug Light).

It’s hard to visualize but wanted to show you the whole thing. The second picture is a closer view.

Since my pics are probably hard to understand from the angle they were shot at, I’m including an aerial shot. (I didn’t take.)

Really fun and peaceful to be out there. I remember when I was in college going down there to study for finals. A little chilly in May, but still nice on a sunny day.

Have a good day, everyone! 🐥

Good morning 🐥

Thank you all again so much for the bowl encouragement. I am excited to get it and will stash it away. In December, I can figure out the granola/fresh berry part 🫐 He usually puts blueberries and/or raspberries in his bowl with milk.

I'm going to do my best to contact Matt from 99 today to confirm Sue's surprise is happening. I'll update later hopefully with 👍Also going to ask Barbara the next time we talk whether there's any way I can help with Relay this year from home. Would mean a lot to me to get to do that.

Much 🙏for safe travels for your DH, AuntieMe3. I am sorry you weren't able to join him. My friend Glenda is from Canada. I once also knew someone from the Cancer Society Discovery (Thrift) Shop where I volunteered all during high school who moved there. I've never been but at least through Hallmark Christmas movies set in Vancouver, it sure looks pretty! I hope you get to go there some day ✈️

:hug:PollyannaMom. I really do love your morning🐦and🐈tails and pictures. They definitely add cheer to my day. Thank you, my friend.

:thanks:Lynn🌸 so much for taking the care and time again to contact a webmaster. I was able to log on immediately this morning. Had trouble a couple times yesterday. I'm sorry to hear that you and others are still also having issues logging in. Not fun!

Beautiful pictures, Footballmouse! Welcome 🏡too. Much congratulations to your son and his future wife! God Bless them indeed. How exciting :)

:hug:Judique. I sure hope when you try again to log on it works easily! Wishing you a lovely day 🌼

Such peaceful and pretty🪨 and:beach:pictures, Pea! So tranquil looking.

🌷for all! Will check in later.

@footballmp Congrats to your DS and his fiancee! Glad you had a good trip.
@PollyannaMom Love the kitty photos! DS was walking by and saw them, and now wants to get harnesses for his kitty so she can go out. They loved being outside on the enclosed porch at the last place, but we don't have one here.
@Pea-n-Me that looks amazing!

I had to run up to Kohls to return some things to Amazon for DH, and got a $5 coupon for my trouble; so I took a quick look and found a stuffed Trex from Jurassic World (Universal parks) for 9.99...grabbed it for DGS#4 (who has a 1st birthday in September), for 4.99. Then stopped at Panera to pick up some asiago bread, chocolate chip muffies and orange scones; and did my pickup order for Target. I had earned a $25 bonus there, and 2 $15 gift cards, so I used that to buy some groceries (and earned another $10 gc in the process!). I'm ordering a couple of toys for DGS#4's bday, while they have the save $10 on $50 for toys deal today, and I'll use the last gc then. Woohoo, love stacking deals like that.

For lunch, I'm making flatbread pizzas, with pepperoni, chicken caprese sausage, and onion. Leftovers for dinner tonight, from the cauliflower/rice/chick peas from last night. No other plans today, other than cleaning up the kitchen. Tomorrow morning, I HAVE to mow the backyard and way back; it was still a little soft this morning, but the grass is getting tall.

Y'all have a good day!

Mona, thanks for wanting to help with your local Relay for Life! We did it for years after my cancer journey, and it is very special. ❤️ We had a great group of people and a stand that sold food, most of us slept there in sleeping bags overnight and helped clean up in the morning. It was fun for the kids to do when they were young with a lot of their friends who were in our group with their families. The luminary ceremony is moving and beautiful, and the survivors’ walk is something that makes me tear up even just thinking about it now. One year I walked the whole thing arm and arm with a good friend and my cousin, also survivors and special to me on my journey. It‘s an emotional time for all those affected by cancer, but in a good way - you feel like part of something big, not like you’re alone in the battle. I’m including some generic pictures, below. I’m sure there are things you can do from home. Fundraising is a big one. I’m sure there are a lot of organizational things you could do, too. Contact your local organizers. We used to run ours in June, but the process started in the winter months. The weather has to be good. (Rain is a disaster, and no way in cold.) I’m not sure how it work where you are.

🥰

Congratulations to your son and his fiancée, Footballmouse!

Mona, I liked the bowl!

Scratches to Buddy, Auntie! I was careful in the heat with Grady, too, as he’s had heartworms before and I can’t be sure if he’s got any residual damage from them.

B&B, hugs to your anxious cat, and love the pic of your DD. (Wasn’t sure which she was, though.)

Judique, glad things worked out when your pooch became upset. I can see why you’d want to keep him on leash when the kids are around.

Snowysmom, dazed, Canadisney Fly hope things are going ok for you.

Easyas, I saw this picture and thought of you!

Home from errands and opened the DIS with no issues. I never sign out on my desktop, so I don't know if it would still work right if I logged out and back in. It's HOT and 92 outside. They said 'limited sun today',,I think they got that wrong..it's full sun.
Stores were busy, but not terrible. Only had a lady with a few things in front of me at one of the U Scans. Noone was in line at the service desk (had to return one of the oil filter wrenches I had got to change the mower oil..as it wouldn't go small enough). Shelf with dry pasta seems to be empty again, at least of Great Value brand. Plenty of Barilla..which was almost 60 cents a box more for thin spaghetti than Walmart brand is. But oh well. I used the last of the box I had making spaghetti and meatballs the other night, so stocked up on 2 more. Leftover spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and a side salad for dinner tonite.

@footballmouse Congrats to your son and 'soon to be DIL". Lovely pictures
@Pea-n-Me --great pictures, so pretty!--That pic of the big dog and little one made me laugh!--too cute

Here we go with my stepdaughter again..well not her directly, but one of the granddaughters. (16 years old). She had an earache on Sunday. They took her to the ER. They gave her an antibiotic and some kind of sterioud. . Said on Tuesday it was worse, so she took her to her pediatrician. They said wait till today and if no better, then they want to do a CT scan, as they are worried it might be a bone infection (never heard of that ) ..She also says both granddaughers have 'tonsil stones',,which I have never heard of. But they won't take out their tonsils? So they have to put up with hit,,sounds weird to me.
Waiting to hear if her earache is any better,,she is getting her braces off this afternoon, so I hope it is better!

Have a nice afternoon...stay cool!

I was not able to log in earlier. Same error :P

I did call the 99 Cent Only Store Corporate office and spoke to a lady named Janie, who thinking about it after the fact, I am pretty sure in some way helped me contact Janna initially. Does this ring any bells to any of you? Anyway she promised to call Matt and have him call me. I sure pray he does. Should I not hear from him by the end of the week, certainly by Monday, I'll have to call and/or email again. I will keep all of you posted!

:dogdance:B&B, on the $5 coupon, how lovely of Kohl's to do that.

:grouphug:Pea and thank you with all my heart for your own volunteering for Relay. I do remember last year Barbara and her friend were very busy shopping and also putting together baskets that were to be raffled. Even if all I am able to do is give Barbara a small cash donation or perhaps contribute something to go into one of the baskets that would mean a lot to me. I do remember very fondly my volunteer days when I was so young at the Discovery Shop.

You stay well and cool, Lynn, please. I am very sorry about your stepdaughter's family still going through so much. Prayers, my friend.

I had to look up tonsil stones:
- "A lump of calcified material in the tonsils, the fleshy pads at the back of the throat.
The cause is unknown but oral bacteria may contribute to their formation.
Symptoms may include a sensation of something stuck in the throat, bad breath, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and ear pain.
Many require no treatment. Larger ones can be removed by a doctor."
(emphasis mine)

I hope she feels better and can get her braces off! I still remember what a great day that was for DS. - It was around Valentines Day, and we gave him a huge box of goodies he hadn't been able to have for a while.

Good afternoon.

We got up this morning and went to DD's house. She was at work and DH and DSIL worked for 2 hours clearing brush and branches from where their fence is going to be installed. I watched the kids. They didn't get completely finished but cleared a lot. Two neighbors asked SIL if DH was a contractor. One neighbor even offered to pay DH to remove a tree in her yard. :rotfl2: Meanwhile, I baked chocolate chip muffins with Tessa and had an extended make believe role play of school and home with both kids.

Home for lunch and a lazy afternoon. Going out to our pizza place for dinner because I have a $5 reward that expires soon.

My Ds2 proposed on Sunday night to his girlfriend and she said yes, so we have a wedding in the future
Congratulations all around.
I will add that another disboards group set up an alternate private group on Redditt
I am in a group on Proboards that started with people from the DIS back in February 2010 after the big banishment happened.
'tonsil stones'
I've had them. They are just annoying. Mine mostly came out with a sneeze or cough. I don't get them as often now as when I was in college.

She was able to get her braces off today. She has such a pretty smile now that all of her teeth are straightened. I will try and post a pic tomorrow. This is the first time I have been able to log on since my last post :(
@PollyannaMom Thank you for the clarification on tonsil stones, I literally never heard of them before. Sorry that you had them @Breezy_Carol
Off to watch Big Brother, and then bed. I am tired, probably from only getting about 3 hours of sleep the last 2 nites.
Have a lovely evening everyone

Just finished Day 1 of a two day First Aid course. Some changes in the CPR portion that are quite different, so it's good to get a refresher! My best friend's son made it through the seven hour surgery to remove his brain tumor (third time, as it keeps regrowing, but hopefully the last), so we're all incredibly thankful and waiting for him to awake. Things are looking up.
Hey! It's Prime day.
What is this magical day that you speak of?!? I had to look it up - could be a dangerous piece of knowledge for me!
A picture of the bowl is attached!
I LOVE the green colour (and the sentiment) - what a sweet gift.
DH left for Toronto for work on Sunday.
I'm worried about flying through Toronto next month on our way to WDW - it's been just one bad story after another with flight cancellations, lost luggage, delays, etc. I hope your DH didn't have any trouble.
Here's this morning's Blue Jay:
Gorgeous - so nice to see your pics of blue jays and cardinals from @Snowysmom
I think she plans to stay out here for a while:
Beautiful cat! Did you start with the harness/leash when they were a kitten? I've seen more and more cats with harnesses who are quite well behaved and accepting of it. Quite a few years ago, I tried it with my kitten, but it was an unmitigated disaster.

Aw, what great parents you and your DH were (and are) PollyannaMom! Fun and sweet way to celebrate your son's braces free smile! ❤️🍫

Homemade chocolate chip muffins sound amazing, Carol! I loved to play school as a young child but mostly with my playmobile kids. Hope you enjoyed your dinner🍕

:grouphug:dear Lynn and prayers you enjoy a wonderful and peaceful night's sleep🛌 So happy for your young relative! I got my own braces off in 10th grade. I actually really liked my orthodontist, great guy and caring doctor. Looking back, getting braces may not have helped TMJ wise. Do remember being very thankful to be done with them and all the wires, yuck!

:hug:Canadisney Fly and much 🙏for your friend's son. Thank you on the bowl so much.

No word today from Matt. Hopefully tomorrow!

Hugs to all and sweet dreams.

Beautiful cat! Did you start with the harness/leash when they were a kitten? I've seen more and more cats with harnesses who are quite well behaved and accepting of it.

Yes, we did. You start in the house, giving treats/petting/whatever they like while introducing it - first just getting them used to being around it, then wearing it, then having the leash attached, etc. Some cats aren't bothered by it at all, and the steps progress quickly, others take more patience.

Once mine realized it was the key to going outside where they wanted to go, they both decided it was a pretty good deal. But the grey one is funny - she doesn't like putting it on, but once it's on, she doesn't like taking it off when she first comes in either - reminds me of a toddler with a jacket. :rotfl:
