That schoolbread from Norway has been pretty hit-or-miss for me on my last few visits. But it's still one of my go-to snacks in Epcot, along with the caramel corn from Germany.
I had suggested it for them. She’s had it before but I don’t think she remembered. But she said it was really good! We usually got one of those or a cinnamon bun to share for the nighttime show. :lovestruc ETA Oh, and I love that caramel popcorn in Germany, too. That smell!

You're scaring me!!! Going in August this year and I'm doing everything I can to plan for the heat. Booking lunchtime buffets in air conditioned table service restaurants, having considerable downtime (we're there for nine days), making sure everyone has a good waterbottle and some electrolyte powder... but still, it will be HOT.

We have spent quite a bit of time in the heat in Brazil (including my 80 year old aunt, who came with us one year to meet the in-laws ♥️), and we're actually better with it than my Brazilian ex-husband! But I'm quite fair, and my son is REALLY fair, so sun protection and getting under cover in the heat of the day is crucial. The last visit was in Sept 2016, and it was hot but certainly not unbearable.

... but the photos are also making me VERY excited!!! And hungry...
I feel like I could tolerate it more when I was younger. That’s good planning. I always liked having those water bottle/fans with us, too, they helped cool us down a lot. It doesn’t hurt to have an umbrella just to get out of the blistering sun. AC in restaurants and shows is good, and just taking a rest in some shade with a cold drink helps, too. And classic getting there early, taking a mid-day pool break and nap, and going back when it’s a little cooler is always a good strategy, too. If you can do WS in the evening, that might help If it’s super hot. And walking away from the sun, not into it.

When I went to Disneyland in April, it was in the 60s and pouring rain the first day. And you know something? It was kinda nice.

Very short lines. No need for sunscreen. Definitely didn't burn up. Had never really experienced that kind of weather at a Disney park before (though I know it happens all the time at the overseas parks).

The rest of the week it was sunny, but still very cool. Never got above 70, I don't think. Perfection.

When the kids were in elementary school we loved going in late January. It could be chilly in the morning and evening, but usually pretty nice mid-day. And you can layer clothing. Pools are heated, air is cold, but still do-able. I prefer that type of weather, or even rain, to scorching heat. We did a lot of March trips during the college years, and that could be either freezing cold (we had to buy jackets one year), or scorching hot, too.

Good Morning 🐥

Dad just called with the wonderful news that all went very well at the doctor. How beyond blessed we are for God's loving Presence and of course continued Grace and Mercy! I so appreciate all of your kind prayers for him and of course, me, too. It's warm in this apartment which is a blessing for me. Even I admit it's warm lol! I'm wearing a T shirt! Amazing. I do every now and then have a cool twinge. Gotta love time of life change! Dad's last Father's Day surprise is out for delivery today. I'm finishing up his card. Looking forward to a nice celebration on Sunday.

Our 📺 still does strange things at times such as not turning back on immediately after being turned off or HGTV (it does seem to only be this channel for some reason. Have any of you had this happen)? will lose sound all of a sudden! Last night after dad and I watched Sale of the Century that we had recorded earlier and checked the Dodger Score, I had briefly looked at what was on HGTV (Channel 54 here) before turning off the TV. I wanted to check one other thing so I turned the TV back on and guess what channel it turned onto? Channel 2! God absolutely made that happen because He knew dad and I would fund fun in the Price is Right 50th Anniversary Special that was being rebroadcast last night! I quickly DVR-ed it and we will enjoy watching it. God reminds us He is always with us in all, even at times, by putting the TV on His right channel!

Thank you all so much for your care and love, trust in each of us to share each day. it is always my prayer that all of you dear Quackers continue to find peace, loving care and support, in faith and loyal friends right here. Each of you are indeed dear to me. I tried my best to reply to each of your shares. Please forgive me if I left anyone out. That absolutely was (never) intentional! You all know that :)

Dazed, I was sure thankful to read that your electricity returned last night! Prayers you got a peaceful night’s sleep. Thinking of you and absolutely keeping you in much prayer, too 🌼.

Always good to see posts from you, Lucky Rabbit! I hope you are enjoying our sunshine 🌻

Kirby, when did you say you were coming out here? PM me, if you want to, with hotel info, and I can let you know whether I’ve ever stayed there. I so wish we could somehow meet up! I feel terrible from across the country for all of you, especially the children. Your DD sounds like she absolutely needs a new lawyer pronto. The current one doesn’t seem to be putting the children first! I extra empathize with your situation because I was Lou Lou and Lil Joe so many, many years ago! The situation I was in, was one that I’ll just say I pray no child ever be in, definitely most uncommon. Please do PM me any time and about DL, too! Big hugs and prayers :grouphug:🙏

Huge hugs, dear Frog  all-around, my friend. What an awful situation for you and your kids. It truly does break my heart when children are intentionally being hurt by those (their dad) who should unconditionally love them! He needs to get himself out of the way and quick! How awful your former in-laws are not choosing to act too kindly either. Much prayer for peace for all of you and moving forward and onward as smoothly and quickly as possible! None of you need constant toxicity! :(

Hooray for vacation planning, Carol! :tigger:Many prayers you enjoy a fantastic time! :grouphug: my friend and prayer for safe travels indeed! A treat basket or restaurant gift cards are also great ideas. I hope you get to see and will enjoy Top Gun.

I'm glad your hockey team 🏒 won B&B. I Googled "AV Hockey Team," does it stand for the Colorado Avalanche? For his birthday this last May I got my cousin Steve this Chicken Soup for Hockey Fans book. Steve loves most all sports but especially hockey. Sharing the link as perhaps you'd enjoy these stories, too. I hope if you do read the book, you, of course, will! More great suggestions for Lynn.

Hugs, Lynn:grouphug: and prayers today is much more peaceful for you and Mr. L, too 🌸. Love your daily picture. What about a small potted plant with flowers that they can plant at home? As far as a basket…how long would something be at the funeral home? Footballmouse reminded me of the Arbor Day Foundation Years ago, I had some Trees in Memory and in Honor planted. I loved that this was a living and lasting tribute to the family member or friend I was celebrating. Plus, a new tree 🌲is a positive for all of us and God's creatures, too.

You are a kind friend, Footballmouse! I would have appreciated a pet sympathy card when Champ died. Our furry friends are family, too! Not at all silly to send a hug and condolences by mail, very caring in fact—like you! I’m sorry the Reds lost ⚾. I’m so glad you enjoyed Top Gun :) A donation to a charity that perhaps means something to the family is a great idea and a tribute that will live on!

PollyannaMom, and prayers your appointment went (since it’s probably over by now) very well, my friend.

Very glad to see a morning post from you, King Llama! :grouphug:It is strange to think of Cleveland as the Guardians, I agree. Thank you for sharing your sharing your story with us. Alzheimer's and Dementia are simply heartbreaking. My grandma had dementia. God Bless You for all the loving care you have given and continue to give your parents. Your dad is blessed to have you as was your late mother. Keeping you and your dad in much prayer. I pray you know moving him into Assisted Living was the kind and right choice for both of you! It is so important that caregivers take care too and have a support team. Prayers the facility where your dad now resides will be positive all-around for both of you.

Big hug, Pea and thank you and please do thank your daughter, for allowing us to visit WDW from across the country with you! I love the picture of Mickey and Minnie, where was that taken? How precious and perfect is Grady the horse? 🐴 God absolutely had your DD and through her you and all of us meet that horse! ITA with you that I'd prefer milder weather for a Disney trip, too! Mid 70's.

Much prayer for Ella, Taz and always for dear you, grandma! Ella (and all your grandkids) are sure blessed to have you! My own grandma would have loved you. From Heaven she’s absolutely keeping watch over dear you. She was feistily loyal and absolutely did stand up for me many a time. Sadly, junior high, as middle school was called back in the dark ages, especially 7th grade, were just atrocious times for me. So-called friend-wise, home issues, and choices that I have wished years later I had made differently. God and His Mercy and Grace, allowed me to move forward and I pray help me to know as best I can as a human, that He absolutely did and continues to work it all out for His Good and in care to me. As far as your DH is concerned, it sounds like he needs to clearly hear and take in what is needed by his doctors asap. I know with my own beloved dad even, I have sometimes felt frustrated with suggestions health-wise to him because, I feel anyway, that if anyone else, especially a doctor, were saying the same thing, he’d better listen! I think sometimes those we most love need to hear certain things from those not so close to them. Your DH knows you love him and have his best interests at heart. Now he just needs to thank you for that and take care of himself! I hope you get to go on the cruise 🛳️ and have a wonderful time, too.

Prayers you will enjoy a wonderful and fun trip, Canadisney Fly! I would not be a fan of a lot of walking, well period at this point in my life, but extra in heat! I can burn easily, too. Please take care, be safe and just have fun! I look forward to hearing about your trip ::MickeyMo

Love to all and I will check back and PM a couple of you later. Thinking of you, too, dear Snowysmom!:grouphug:

Everyone is talkative today.

Trying to listen to the Jan 6 Hearings today but it is dry and boring. DH fell asleep in front of it.

Got grocery shopping done for food I am making to take for dinner on Saturday. Laundry done too.

I also am going in August. We have been in August before and I really didn't think it was any hotter than the hot, humid weather in Maryland. We are planning on making ADRs in sit down restaurants at lunch, for the AC. Have water bottles and DD got the fan/spray bottles and cooling towels for her family. I know she is worried about both sets of grandparents but at least DH and I know when to take a break.
When the kids were in elementary school we loved going in late January.
We used to go in October until the kids got to high school. There was always a long weekend toward the end of the month and often coincided with election day so they didn't miss too much school. DH and I went in January 1986. It was COLD. I was 4-5 months pregnant and had to buy an extra large sweat shirt, hat, and gloves to stay warm. You can buy winter hats and gloves in the parks. It was the day the Challenger exploded.

I hope you will have a fun trip in August, too, Carol::MickeyMo Maybe you and Canadisney Fly can meet depending on when you both are traveling. Truly was a very sad day when the Challenger exploded. I think I've shared that my grandpa knew Christa McAuliffe's sister from work. I met her (the sister) at least once.

We ended up going with a good size plant basket, and the donation of a tree. He called his 3 kids, and they all chose that,,so all of my ideas went out the window. That's what they thought should be, so it will be. To answer your ? @flyingdumbo127 --Mona,,the funeral is Monday at the funeral home at 11. The hour before is to receive friends and family. All I asked of the florist was to make sure it was there before 10 am on Monday and she assured me it would be. WOW, has the price of flowers and plants gone up since the last time I sent any. What got me,,was they are one of only 2 reliable florists in town..are like 5 minutes away from the funeral home, but charge $5 for delivery, lol. The other ones that offer free delivery have terrible reviews and I got recommendations from several people not to use them. (To be honest, I never heard of any of them before I started looking, so apparently they aren't widely used.
There will also be a luncheon at their church after the funeral service, no burial since he was cremated and she hasn't yet decided where to bury them. I think we might be skipping that..as after 2 hours at the funeral home, Mr L will be tired and need to come home. If I thought he could get himself home, out of the car with walker in tow, and the portable oxygen thing, I would just go and stay with my other SIL who would bring me home, but I don't trust that he could..I would just be worried that he would fall or something. She already told me it wasn't necessary that we go to the funeral home at all, but neither of us would feel right about that. As long as they have a ramp for him to go up (which they do), he won't have to worry about trying to navigate stairs.

Its HOT outside..95 and feels like 103. @Breezy_Carol , I would guess that August at Disney wouldn't be much worse than it is here in MD the last few days. But I like going when it's cooler. We went to Disney Land at the end of March when we went..and the weather was perfect. First time we went to WDW was at the beginning of July, and it was way too hot.!

Stay cool all!

Pea N Me Your DD's pictures are fantastic. It is making a bit interested in some planning for our Oct trip.

Llama Welcome to the thread. It is hard caring for our parents when they get older. I hope your father does better and you can get through all that you need to do. A day at a time is always a good plan.

Taz I hope your DH gets shoes that work well for him. The cruise sounds like a nice time for you both to relax and just enjoy time together and try to lose your worries for a while.

Flyingdumbo Glad your Dad had a good appt.

Frog I don't consider 70 old either. My friend is older than me but she is very active and seems like she is in her 50s. I don't know why someone in their 70s would like about their age. My friend did have an age limit listed and he was over it so that is probably why he did it. Thinking about you and your kids. You have each other and your strength to help you through.

dazedx3 Glad your electricity is back. Thinking of you and your family.

I had to go into the office today. It was nice to see some coworkers and talk. I am off tomorrow driving to my condo and having lunch with a friend, my 70 year old friend. :sunny: We can talk forever. Then she wants to see my condo. She did look at it with me before I bought it and she loved it. I have a therapist appt this afternoon. I so need it. I woke up the other night in a panic and anxious. I was so upset that now I have to make all my decisions by myself. Who thinks that is a good idea? Not me! It kept me up for hours. Then I think I don't like the condo but I think I just don't like any place I will live without Chris. I am going to give it a year and if I don't like I will look at options. I am just done with changes in my life. Every time a change comes up I go back several steps. So, for now, no more decisions and no more changes. I need peace and calm. This morning right after I got up I heard a big sound in my room. My whiteboard fell off the wall. I asked Chris why he would do that. LOL! Maybe he is tired of my yelling at him. Guess I have to tone it down.

Have a good rest of the day.

If any of you miss the notice in red at the top of the boards--

The boards will be shut down for a move starting at 1AM Eastern Time on Monday June 20th. They are expected to be back up by 11:00AM Monday. Details- We have used the Xenforo software for successfully for many years. We have decided to move to their servers so Xenforo will not only be supplying the software but taking care of issues, maintanence and upgrades. We believe this will help us increase performance and resolve issues. I will start a thread in the tech support board for any questions! Alex

Just went out for a beer run. I have discovered I like brown ale. DH found some brewed in Hagerstown, Maryland, at a local store so we got some.

But I like going when it's cooler.
I do too but DSIL is a teacher so that limits things.
Frog I don't consider 70 old either.
I sure as heck don't, seeing that I am 69.
If any of you miss the notice in red at the top of the boards--
Saw it, thanks. I hope it isn't too hard to make the switch.
I feel like nobody ever CHOOSES to eat pretzels*
I LOVE pretzels. I can't have them in the house. If we buy a bag, I can finish it in 5 days, and that is if I take my time.

Lucky, thank you for the pick up/drop off information. Not sure where we're staying yet. DS hasn't made the reservations.
@Kirby Please tell your daughter I sure am thinking about her, Lou Lou and Little Joe. You also, but man, 42 days? That is nuts. I'm not sure I could handle that. Her lawyer sounds awful, I'm sorry she doesn't have someone who is a better representative for her and the kids. I'm sure switching at this point is not an option for many reasons, but man, she deserves better.
Thank you, the two of you have many things in common.
- Was hoping the reviews for the new "Jurassic Park" movie would be better. I've always had a special attachment to that franchise, so I'll go see it just to "close the loop". But my hopes are low. On the flip side, I thought a "Top Gun" sequel sounded ridiculous, but everyone is saying it's amazing, so if I can break free from my dad's house at all, I may slip off to catch an IMAX showing. That movie should NOT be watched for the first time on a TV.
I saw it Monday with DD and GK's. They loved it. I found it good overall, some moments were really good. I enjoyed the references to previous movies.
@Kirby - I can't imagine a 42 day visit. My son had a 2 week/2 week visitation with his oldest. He got the 1st 2 weeks of July and August. When his ex withheld my grandson we got a pitbull of an attorney who was actually an assistant DA. She was good friends with my husband and came fairly cheap thankfully. I also did a lot of legwork for her which helped. The agreement was modified so my son could have a couple of hours on my grandson's birthday since it fell during her 2 weeks. I think all that he went through has made my grandson such a wonderful father. The ex actually was told she came very close to losing custody by her attorney and she became much more co-operative. We actually get along very well now. We were lucky, sadly to many parents use their children as weapons. Your daughter's ex sounds like he is one of them.
What's so sad if the ex has a good visitation schedule that many fathers would love to have. He has a vendetta against DD and nothing will satisfy him except to cause her grief. She is currently interviewing attorneys hoping to find one with a backbone.

Mona, so glad to hear that your father's appointment went well! I'm not sure yet if I will be able to go to DL yet. DD gets two weekend visits during the 42 days and she still doesn't know which weekends she will travel to see the kids. Lil Joe is the only one staying 42 days right now, Lou Lou has two 2 week visits during that time so DD has to travel to pick her up after the first two weeks and then take her back for her second two weeks. It's a mess! I will travel with her for one of them, maybe both, so that's why I don't know if I am coming or not. The ex lives in Columbia, SC but so she has a distance to go if she ends up driving with lots of time on the road.

Lynn I forgot to put in my 2 cents about flowers. I know I appreciated the flowers at Chris's funeral as an expression of how much people cared and thought of us. The colors and the beauty just spoke to me. I would not have liked to have to take home a plant to take care of. If I could take care of myself I was doing well, never mind thinking about caring for a plant. To be honest, I probably would have just left the plant at the funeral home.

I enjoy plants and I still have a plant arrangement that was sent to us when my MiL passed in 1991. It’s been trimmed and separated but I still have some in the bowl.

I met my orthopedic surgeon and we decided that I will see a hand surgeon about getting my right hand taken care of before a reverse shoulder operation. I see that doctor in mid July. The idea is that my right hand needs to be stronger to support me better with a cane or the walker. I have carpal tunnel pain. Happily my bone in my shoulder looks strong enough for the operation and I have time to deal with my right hand issues.

DH will be asking about a right knee replacement.

We are falling apart, together!

There were lots of posts here today!

Leaving tomorrow for U.P.,Michigan for a few days. We rented a house right on Lake Superior. It will be kind of chilly but that’s O.K. We are doing the Painted Rocks boat tour. There is so much to do before a vacation! I’m not a good packer, always take way too much!
So nice to see all the posts today, this is such a nice place to chat.

I ended up making shredded Mexican beef to use on nachos. I‘m also going to make some Rice Krispie bars in the morning. Oh, and I made quiches for breakfast.

Love all the new posts today. Thank you all so very much with all my heart for your kind dad words and always prayers!

Much prayer dear Lynn that the service brings you, Mr. L and the rest of the family a sense of extra peace. :grouphug:

LOL to the whiteboard, Snowysmom. Hooray for lunch with a good friend. Always hooray for YOU!

I admit to not being a 🥨person which is a good thing since with my TMJ I could not eat them anyway. The kids at church camps always liked them though. I'm glad some of you enjoy pretzels, too.

Kirby, just loving extra prayer! To you, Bobbiwoz, as well1

Carol, I'm excited for you that your vacation time has gotten one day closer. :)

Safe travels, dear Dazed!

Sweet dreams friends and have a good night.

Good Morning. It is 67 here and expected to be sunny and in the mid 80s.

dazedx3 I hope you have a great trip.

Bobbiwoz I hope your and your DH's orthopedic adventures go well. I am grateful they have these options to fix joint and hand issues now that make life better.

Off for coffee and then later to 495 and the condo and lunch.

Have a good day.
