How awful to have had food poisoning on a Disney vacation! I'm sorry, Snowysmom. I'm truly glad you had a good dinner tonight! Hugs and what a wonderful idea should you want to spend weekends with your younger DS. I really like that and pray keeping that in prayer brings you extra comfort:hug:

I got a text from Terri who was so touched and thoroughly loved her basket. I hope to get to talk with her tomorrow, her birthday when she will open her surprises :)

On a different note, I did get an email back from the dentist, Dr. E. He now has an ultrasonic all set up. I am keeping my appointment a week from tomorrow in much prayer. All will be fine either way (Dr. E or needing to find a new dentist), thanks to God. I do hope Dr. E will work out.

Wishing all of you a good night's rest 🌃❤️

Pea, I'm sorry you had a bad restaurant meal. I hate when that happens.

One time we went out to eat with friends and DHs food had little black things, almost like hair, around the plate. He didn't notice until he was already eating and let the server know. She took the plate to the back and the manager brought the plate back and said it's not hair, it's bristles from the brush they use to clean the plates. :scared::crazy2: Uhhh....that didn't make it any better. They didn't offer DH another meal or even offer to take any money off the bill. We were with a large group of friends so we didn't make a fuss but it's probably been about 15 years and we never went back to that place. Gross.
Whoa! I have a friend who was quite ill and wound up in surgery for something like that! It was a piece of a grill brush, and it took a long time to find on scans. It was stuck in his GI tract and caused an abscess, etc. I can’t believe they didn’t think it was a big deal! Sometimes I wonder about eating out at all! :faint:

Now that is service! Wow! Very impressed he did that for you. What a blessing!

Thanks for sharing your QOTD stories! @Snowysmom omg! We love Boma! @lynxstch Denny’s and KFC! Yikes! My issue wasn’t so bad, just that taste really turned me off. I told DH he could have the rest of my steak, he douses it in Heinz 57 anyway, lol. It sort of reminded me of the chemical taste you get with some turkeys. I think they bleach them or something. Yuck. Once I was at IHOP and the shoestring potatoes had a cleaner-type taste. I haven’t liked eating them there ever since.

I would like to hear more stories if anyone has them!

DH’s Swedish Meatballs came out pretty good, but there was once spice in there I think we will use less of next time. I think it was allspice, and there was also nutmeg in there. Will half both if we make them again. We froze the remainder for another day. I wasn’t sure DS would like them, but he did. (“What’s not to like about balls of meat?” :lmao: )

I think I bought too much at the grocery store so we have a lot to make this week. (Marinated some chicken tenders, got ingredients for an American Chop Suey, and got a rotisserie chicken for a soup.) Also got some haddock chowder for DH to take to work tomorrow.

Thanks, Pea. I came back late (for me) once last time and just saw this :) I will share a positive Denny's story in the morning. Maybe that could be tomorrow's spin off of today's QOTD to share a positive dining experience or two. What do all of you think? Really waving good night now. Sweet dream, dear Quackers family.

Good morning.
@flyingdumbo127 I am glad your friend enjoyed her birthday basket. I hope you talk with her today.

It is 41 now with temps going up into the 60s and sun. I have to go to the house to put the car title in the van as well as the keys. They asked if they could come this afternoon instead of tomorrow. I forgot to take off the plates but I couldn't get the screws off anyway. My younger DS's DFIL who lives in my current town said he would go over and do it. They have been very kind. I am sad about the van but it did stop working and it needs to go. Chris drove it mostly once we got the subaru and Jasper always rode in it. We also took a family trip to Disney in it in 2003 when it was new. I have alot of good memories of it and will always keep those.

Have a good day.

Happy Wednesday! :flower1:

It's nice outside as of now, 64 when I left the house at 6:30. But rain coming today and heavy storms tonight.

I'm going to head up to my aunt's after work today, she's going to help me piece together some missing parts of the family tree. I retyped everything over the weekend and sent one family side to my cousin, hoping she'll fill in the missing pieces of her family. I just can't keep up with all the cousin's kids names and then if they're married and have kids. Too many to keep track of.

That's about it for me, it's Survivor night so I'm excited for this workday to be over. Have a great day!

Good morning.

Going up to 80 today. I have my zip-off pants on so I can make them into shorts later. And a t-shirt.:cool1:

DH and I are heading down to a county park on the western shore of the bay to see the Ever Forward, the ship that has been aground for a month. They are now unloading the containers from the ship. DS, DDIL, and Marty are driving north and meeting us. We are packing picnics and going to enjoy the weather.

RE: bad dining experiences. I can't really recall any truly horrible ones. I am so glad to not have to cook and clean up, it takes a lot to make it bad. Two I can think of. 1. There was a pancakes dinner at church one Shrove Tuesday. Can't remember if the Methodist Men were the cooks, or the Boy Scouts. The pancakes were so underdone they were inedible. So we left and went to Burger King. 2. We took DD to Chilis or Applebees or someplace like that near her college campus. Service incredibly slow. They brought food but we still had no silver ware so DH went off and took some from somewhere so she could eat.

it's Survivor night
It's two hours tonight.

Enjoy this nice weather if you are having it too.

Good Morning,

Send me some of your :sunny:Carol. I once had zip -off pants and thought they were the handiest clothing ever. The only issue was sometimes it did take a bit of effort to re-attach the material to turn them back into long pants. I think they were meant to be for young men or older boys and I got them at Target years ago. I'm pretty sure that in a picture with dad taken either in OR or WA way back in 2007 or 2008, I'm wearing those very pants.

Dad has gone off to Walmart this morning for the second time during the pandemic. We have been so thankful to Walmart.com. I'm truly hoping he finds some in store things worth the 45+ minute trip out there. He is going to a couple other stores including Staples, where I hope he finds himself a new computer chair, in the same center. One time trip. Next time he takes a longer trip will probably be in a couple weeks when he goes to IKEA to look for new kitchen chairs and nightstands.

Happy Wednesday to all🌸

We have 80 sunny degrees,,few clouds out, but no storms yet. I was literally the only customer at the check out in Aldi's. Weird, Wednesday mornings are usually a zoo. Picked up an extra spiral sliced ham for $1.59 a lb. Theirs are really good. Walmart was busy, I was just going to use the U Scan, but the cashier at the one register right next to it was opening and she told me to unload on her belt. So I did, didn't have to bag my own that way.
I got both birdbaths out, cleaned, and filled. Got all the outside cat's winter blankets off the front porch chairs,,have them in the washer now. Took the trash down to the street, and did dishes
Now that all the grocerys are scanned and put away, I am going to sit and not move for at least 30 minutes...lol
Have a nice afternoon all

That is weird. Yesterday my supermarket was so jammed in each aisle I had to pull over to wait for multiple people to go by! Maybe it was the time of day, idk. But I hate when it’s like that.

I’m glad you haven’t had many bad dining experiences, Carol!

Snowysmom, I am always sad when I part with a car that I’ve had. I can understand your feelings!

Bad dining/eating experience? nothing recent comes to mind, however many years ago (15? 18?) I got food poisoning after eating at the Rose & Crown. Was down for the count for about 18 hours and then it took me another day or two to shake it. I've got restaurants that I won't set foot in, just because I'm sure I could get sick there! It's for sure a discriminatory attitude I have, but it's worked for me.

It is beautiful outside, I've got my office windows open. Can't wait to get home for the evening, but I've got a appt. after work so won't be there until about 6 or 6:30. I took off on Friday to take care of some errands, do a bit of shopping....basically play hokey hookey? not hockey :rotfl2: . I've got a $5 Michaels coupon burning a hole in my pocket as well!

I've got a employee - long time, and honestly we consider him a friend as well - who had triple bypass last month. He wasn't expecting it, glad they caught it. He's going crazy at home, and his Dr. said he could come in to work to do a few things that require no effort so he could get out of the house. Mind you this guy is a heavy equipment & tractor trailer mechanic for us, so I didn't think he could "do nothing", but he swept a bit and sat on the computer shopping for a very specific new tractor trailer we need. He was in for a few hours, said he is feeling fantastic. Regaled everyone with gory tales of his medical situation, and texted me to request I provide him with a "accident form in case his heart fell out". He has a joke - mostly off color - for every situation and I had to chuckle and wonder how he made out with the nurses in the hospital, and how they made out with him. He was at a jobsite today, he'll pop in here at the shop tomorrow. He was so happy to be doing something productive and get out of the house, if only for a few hours. Lucky for him his girlfriend is a nurse for a cardiologist, and when he was a bit out of breath/tight chest after climbing up a tank she made him go in for a stress test, 2 days later he's on the table for a triple bypass. He's hardly 50 yrs old. All's well that ends well.

Dinner last night was tortellini w/ roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh spinach. And garlic bread. This evening? No clue. Pizza? Leftovers? We have two portabellas so could make burgers w/ them. I guess it'll be a surprise. I need to take something out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow.

Oooh, I love portobello burgers! I’m glad your friend did well. I am guessing he was somewhat quiet at times for a while, but is now more back to his old self, which is great! It is such a scary thing to have to go though, especially when it’s so sudden! Nice his wife picked up on that right away.

Hug, Lynn, after all that work, you should sit and not move longer than a mere half an hour! Watch something fun on TV. So glad to hear the weather out there is nicer today!

Pea, I've only parted with two cars. One was definitely harder to leave than the other! I hope you get to enjoy a tasty portobello burger soon.

Enjoy your Friday break, Easyas, and have fun at Michaels :)

Dad did get some needed things at Walmart but there's no need for him to make the trek back out there again anytime soon. Walmart.com, here we come the next time :)

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Jersey Mike’s has a portobello and provolone sub that is my go-to. Maybe some time soon.

Snowysmom, I am always sad when I part with a car that I’ve had. I can understand your feelings!
This van was special as it took us on many family trips as well as trips to North Conway that Chris and I took. It also took the kids and their stuff back and forth from college. It was Jasper's vehicle for his rides that he loved. I could not stay at the house to see it towed away. I took pictures last weekend with and without Chris' mask on the rearview mirror. I saved his mask. Some cars are more special than others. This was one of the special ones so it is really hard to part with even though it no longer runs. At least it benefits Make A Wish.

We had a nice outing today. It was Marty’s first outing other than the pediatrician, We did see the Ever Forward and containers being removed. That was cool. And much closer to shore than we thought. It was a beautiful day and a nice park.

DH and I came home and had a cookout with a hot dog and a hamburger, deviled eggs, and a salad. And we ate out on the porch.

A few pictures.

The Evergreen ship is the grounded one and the other is passing in front of it. You can see how close they are.

Good morning. Beautiful pictures Carol.

It is 45 here now going into the 60s. Rain is coming in later in the day.

There is a Jersey Mike's near my older DS. I may have to try the portobello and provolone. Sounds good,

Time for coffee then work.

Have a good day.

Good Thursday morning :sunny:.

I think the rain has stopped for a little while. We had some bad weather last night, tornados in some areas. They broke in to my Survivor viewing with a weather update and never left! :scared: I texted my sister who lives in Dayton to let her know. She offered to facetime me and turn the phone to the TV so I could see the rest of the show. I told her that wasn't necessary, I was going to go to bed and I'll watch it on CBS.com in the morning. As soon as I got to work this morning, 7:00 am, you better believe I logged in to finish watching.

PollyannaMom - awe, Franklin and Frieda are so cute and they look so sad. I hope they find a home together.

Went up to my aunt's yesterday after work and she helped piece together some of the family tree that I'm working on. I'm going to get in touch with another cousin to help fill in some more blanks that my aunt didn't know.

Hopefully the weather will be nice this weekend. I need to cut my grass and clean up the garage.

Have a great day! :flower:
