Greetings ladies & gentlemen!
I'll post more tomorrow, not much to say. Had a good trip away...a all flights & airports were a breeze - reminded me of traveling in October of 2020. Maybe 35 people on flight down, less than half full coming back. If you are still taking a poll, we've got two 1/2 gallons of Tillamook in the freezer - Choc Chip Mint & Chocolate Peanut Butter. I still like Yuengling ice cream best, but Blue Bunny & Tillamook are right up there, too.
Dinner tonight is soup & french rolls.

Yawn. Someone thought the 6 AM flight out this morning was a good idea. It wasn't.

PollyannaMom, we went on one of those quests with another couple to San Antonio a couple of years ago. It was fun and our favorite meal was not a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives choice. 😄

@AuntieMe3,,that is way too hot! I never heard of million dollar spaghetti,,if you find the recipe, please share it,,thanks!
Yes please, I haven't heard of it either.

Yawn. Someone thought the 6 AM flight out this morning was a good idea. It wasn't.
I love to get on an early originator flight!

It' in the middle 90's but feels so good with the low humidity. Was in the 60's this morning. Supposed to be in the 80's over the next week.

Update on child in DD's class. Don't know if I told you but she had to stay after school yesterday and take out all the chairs because he throws them so the kids will have to sit on the floor. She had to remove all the fun stuff in the room like soft, comfy chairs in her reading center and extraneous stuff that she had for fun for the kids because he might tear them up or throw them. All of the tables had their legs taken off so they lay on the floor. She told me that today went a little better. He only left her class without permission twice. He knocked over a number of things including a bottle of cleaning fluid on one of her rugs. When asked to clean it up, he refused so she took a bunch of paper towels, got a hold of his hands and made him clean it up. Later he dumped out a bunch of crayons. He again refused to pick them up and she, once again, got a hold of him and forced him to pick them up. All while telling him that there are consequences to his choices, explaining to him that there are good choices and bad choices, etc. She said the rest of the day he behaved himself. She got to actually teach a little today after two days of not teaching due to his actions.

Lynn, always prayer, you know that, my friend, for you to rest (and better yet SLEEP) comfortably!

Yikes, AuntieMe3, that is HOT. Aw, I’m glad you got to enjoy shopping time at a store you don’t always get to. I never heard of million dollar spaghetti but hope it’s tasty :)

Sounds yummy and like a fun birthday celebration, Snowysmom! I hope your grandkids enjoy nursery school.
Welcome back, Easyas! You could have a Quacker ice cream party! Sleep well tonight and we’ll see you tomorrow. So glad you had a good trip.

Hugs to your DD and the little boy, all the kiddos, Kirby. As I said yesterday, heartbreaking situation all-around. Please thank your DD from me for the kind difference she tries to make to kids!

Heres a link to the website I got the recipe from but there are plenty of others if you google. I'm also using ground turkey with Italian seasoning instead of ground beef and Italian sausage.

https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/million-dollar-spaghetti/#recipe
  • 16 ounces spaghetti noodles
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
  • salt and pepper , to taste
  • 1 small onion , chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 24 ounce jar marinara pasta sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese , softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley leaves for garnish, optional
Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large skillet cook and crumble the ground beef and Italian sausage and season with salt and pepper. Remove most of the grease.
  • Add onions and garlic and cook for a few minutes until onion is translucent.
  • Add all but 1/2 cup of the marinara sauce (reserve 1/2 cup for the noodles) to the mixture and stir to combine. Set aside.
  • Cook Spaghetti according to package instructions, just until “al dente”.
  • Place hot spaghetti in a large mixing bowl with butter and 1/2 cup marinara sauce and toss to combine. Pour HALF of the pasta into a 9x13’’ pan.
  • Combine cream cheese, sour cream and cottage cheese in a bowl and mix well. Smooth over noodles in the pan.
  • Top with remaining noodles. Add meat mixture on top and smooth into an even layer. Top with mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Check it around 20 minutes and if the cheese is browning too quickly, place a piece of tinfoil over it.
  • Wait about 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving. Enjoy!

Right after I posted we had some crazy thunder and a quick, hard downpour and then our power went out so no million dollar spaghetti for us tonight. My dad is making tacos so DD and I will join him for those. Hope the power comes back on soon, it's been about 2 hours now....its too hot to be without a/c or even just our fans. I'm roasting and so are the doggies.

Good afternoon everyone....OMGosh it is HOT outside...only 97° compared to yesterday's 106° but it is HUMID!!! Not used to humidity here so I feel like I'm melting... :lmao: Just got home from the store to this above us and heard some thunder....

Good morning all --chilly 53 this morning, going down to 49 tonite, yikes! Fall really isn't far away, but starting tomorrow..90 degree temps will be back for 3-4 days. Mr L told me he was going to sleep in the bed last nite, after the football game. I went to bed at 9:30, woke at 10:30 expecting him to call me to help him with the oxygen hose so it didn't get all twisted up. No call. He was still watching the game. I went back to sleep, woke at 12:30. All was quiet, I looked and he was sound asleep with tv on. I turned it off and went back to bed. Woke again at 2, then 3, got up at 4 and fed cats, he was still asleep. Went back to bed and fell asleep, only to be awakened at 6:40 by my sister in law texting me pictures of their old history sightseeing trip on Wed. I got up and he was still asleep. I got the paper , fed the birds, and just sat outside watching the day start. He just now woke up (8:30) and said he was too tired last nite to get up and come to bed, lol.

I need to finish mowing the back lawn today, and that will be the extent of my chores. Still have my cold, but it's not as bad as it was, so I am gong to enjoy the 76 degree day

Thank you for the recipe @AuntieMe3--I will try it when we are both hungry and I am in the mood to cook, which I haven't been since I have had this cold, lol

Have a great Friday everyone!

Happy Friday

The weather keeps changing here in Cincinnati. All this week we were 79-82 for the highs, Monday we go back to the 90's. We see all four seasons in about a week around here.

Not much going on today. Didn't keep track of my time very good this week at work so I'll be at 41 hours for the week if I work a full day, looks like I'll be leaving a little early this afternoon :thumbsup2. I need to stop at Walmart anyway on the way home. Ds started a new job last Friday and his uniform shirts aren't in yet so he's been wearing the same 2 black t-shirts and doing his laundry every other day. He asked if I could stop and grab him a few more. No big deal, I was planning to stop at the grocery store for a couple of things on my way home today so I'll just go to Walmart instead.

Got home yesterday from work and my Lab, Boomer, was so excited for me to be home. He was running around the house like crazy, left him and my other dog, Carly, outside to run around and he was a maniac. I'm glad someone is happy when I come home :goodvibes. My son always crabs when he walks through the door because the dogs start barking when they see him pull in the driveway. I tell him all the time to be happy someone is glad to see you because I'm not going to run to the door and jump up and down when he gets home.

Not sure what we'll do for dinner tonight, I didn't get anything out before I left this morning. We'll probably just grab some take-out. We do have a new taco place that opened up that I would like to try. It doesn't look like much from the outside but I've heard the food is pretty good.

Everyone have a great day

Good Morning and Happy Friday 🌼

This week, maybe because of Labor Day, is feeling more timeless to me once again. Of course, this could also be due Covid time and/or time of life time! :)

Wow, AuntieMe3, those trees are so very cool and unique. I have never been up to Joshua Tree. I did back in the 90’s like some songs from U2’s CD of that name!

Chickapin Parterre, it sounds like you’d enjoy checking out Joshua Tree. I hope you get to do that sometime.

Hug, Kirby and I hope your dinner was tasty. Sometimes not cooking is so welcome!

:( That yet again your night’s sleep was so fitful dear, Lynn. It does sound like Mr. L at long last is getting more rest. Now if only YOU would do the same. Aw, what a cute and happy picture. I have to love Christopher Robin because he had the heart to truly believe in and love Pooh and friends, help bring them to life :)

A happy doggie welcome home committee is a happy sight to see, Footballmouse. Glad you have two canine companions. Wishing you a relaxing weekend.

We did call Square Trade regarding my phone yesterday. They told us other than paying any repair bill should we choose to go that route, that there was nothing they could do. That was NOT like them at all. I can understand that perhaps where they were coming from was since the phone did have some issues from the beginning we should have replaced it at the start. But we do also have this 2 year coverage. It's only been just over 1 year. I also do get that other than the camera not working and at times a delay in notifications, the phone overall (thankfully) does work, so it's all good. As dad said we did get our $100's worth. That just does to us, represent a lot of money and we were hoping for something from Square Trade. Again that's okay and the positive is now we truly have more time to carefully look into other phone options because we aren't in a hurry to be sure the phone is still covered in order to receive some compensation back on it.

Thank you all for the recommendations so far, keep them coming if you hear of anything else or upcoming. My current phone does work and since I stay home almost 100% of the time it's not like replacing it now is truly pressing. I could wait even until the new year (if any of you had a heads up on a new Android to come).

Have some fun this Friday and as always take care! I will be back later.

Love my Joshua's....we have 4 in the front yard, these two are the largest.

Those are interesting looking trees!

It's so beautiful out here right now. I wish I wasn't stuck in the office this afternoon. I'm glad fall isn't that far away, but do enjoy the warmer days w/ the cooler nights we get at this time of year. At least it's more refreshing than the warm days AND warm nights! Speaking of fall - are you going to Autumn Glory this year?

** Up near Lynns neck of the woods there is a Autumn Glory festival that happens mid/late October every year. My husband grew up in the area and has fond memories of participating in the parade while in band, and just going to the festival itself. Every year we talk about going, and every year I leave it to late to book a decent hotel up there, this year being no exception  **

I wish I could help - am not familiar w/ Androids. My husband has one, but I haven't messed with it to much. He loves it though.

Good afternoon one & all. Hope everyone is well. What's everyone got on tap this weekend? We've got LOTS of 'yard' work....we have a big tree we have to bring down tomorrow, plus it's bush hog time + just regular mowing - which means I'll be on the tractor probably tonight, a fair bit of tomorrow and maybe even Sunday. The fields are calling me...First thing tomorrow morning I've got a grocery order to pick up, then swing by the farmers market to pick up my seafood order, then hopefully back home by 8:30 or 9 AM latest. I think we may carve out some time to enjoy a fire down at the fireplace by the dock.

Had a good visit w/ the folks earlier this week, and as I mentioned the flights down & back were less than half full. And I had two obligatory alligator sightings.

Last night we watched The Blackwell Ghost, a hour mock? or documentary. Evidently there are a few more, so we will most likely watch a few more. It was okay. A bit in the vein of Blair Witch, which doesn't appeal to me. But at least this was only a hour long, so not to bad.

Dinner this evening will be grilled chicken.

Have a good one everybody!

Thanks, Easyas. What phone does your DH have just to give me an extra idea? :) I will have to Google Autumn Glory myself. Glad to hear the weather is nicer for you, sorry you are stuck inside!

Hug, Lynn, I hope if you did want to go, in the future you can check it out :)

All is pretty quiet here. Wishing all of you a good afternoon!

I managed to mow the other side of the driveway..that whole side, and around both sheds..and just didn't have the energy to do the back. My neighbor was outside and we started talking,,and he went in and got his 19 year old grandson who lives with them..and told him to come mow it for me. Kid was thrilled that I have a self propelled mulching mower,, as they have an old hard to push one next door, and did the whole back in about 20 min,,which would have taken me at least 45 with this cold. He said anytime I need him, just come and knock. He will mow the whole thing and weedwack too if I want. Neighbor didn't want me to pay the kid, but hey, it was on his time..and he didn't have to do it, so I gave him $20..worth it to me to have it done. Hubby says pay the kid $40 a week to do it,,I said if I am going to pay that much, I will get the landscape company who does the house 2 doors over to do it professionally for that..lol..I can do it myself..as soon as this cold goes away. I always get one cold in the summer that just hangs on and hangs on..and this one is it!

They came and checked the oxygen machine and it's running just fine. Left me all the supplies I needed, and even went out in the truck and got me more water bottles, and an extra filter for inside the machine. That was nice of him

Its 74 and just gorgeous outside. Hubby just fell asleep, I just fed all the cats and am thinking of taking a 20 minute nap myself before fixing dinner

Have a nice rest of the afternoon and evening all!

.
Yahoo....U2 was in my old neighborhood....streets without names plenty of 1950s investment roads graded and shouldered....the people never showed up...just no names and plenty of of surveyors wood stakes to pull out and have sword fights . I lived in Joshua tree till I was 12.

if you want to hear my life story. of living in Joshua Tree ...google Curtis Krofft Storycorps it is 30 mins long.

I have to agree with your husband, Lynn, that even once a month you should pay the grandson to do it for you! ITA with you on the $40! That would be much better spent just hiring a whole landscape crew. You just take that nap, please :)

How cool, Chickapin Parterre that U2 was in your old neighborhood :)

ETA: I know we've had this QOTD before but fun to revisit to see whether your choice(s) have changed. QOTD for Friday 9/10: Who are some of your favorite Disney characters? And/or Do you have a favorite--or even just a more recent, pre plague (sadly), character interaction memory? I asked AuntieMe3 this earlier and realized I should have just posted to all. Fun to think about and/or a favorite memory with a character.

I still am classic Disney all the way with our favorite mice, Pooh, and of course, Dumbo for his ride. I'm not into the Princesses or the newer characters. A favorite character memory was going during Christmastime especially on the Pooh ride where they often had multiple characters on hand to meet and take a picture with. Their Christmas hats and sometimes shirts made that more festive and fun.
