Prayers AuntieMe3 for you and your friends!

:banana:to Mr. L, Lynn and always you!

Extra:hug: this evening to everyone.

Still waiting for the mail to come this evening--it' almost 6pm here. Informed delivery this morning said 1 mailpiece now it says "you have no mail today." But it also shows both stamps I ordered from USPS and another package are out for delivery by 8pm so we shall see. Maybe the ponies got hot today was it was warmer 🐴

Have a good night, friends :)

Good morning, all!

Beautiful and sunny here. Will probably be blazing hot later, but for now I'm outside with one of the furballs and it's it's quite nice.

I went to bed on time last night, but then proceeded to read for an hour and a half, so I'll still be tired later. :rotfl2: (Just some local errands to do today, though, so there should be plenty of time to rest after.)

I hope your mail finally arrived, Mona!

Good morning all. We had a pretty bad storm around 8 last nite,,all it did was make it so muggy outside right now that it's hard to breath out there. Just feeding the cats and the birds made it hard on me with this cold. Once again , I slept from 10-1, then Mr L had to use the commode, then I couldn't fall asleep till 3:30 and woke at 4:45. Got up and fed the cats, gave Mr L his morning pill that he has to take long before all the others. Went back to bed at 5:30 and slept till 7:30. This has to stop as neither of us are getting any decent nights sleep.

I have no plans for the day, except to rest and try and get rid of this cold..it's taking a toll on me. PT is coming today, and he better not plan on coming too early, cause hubby is back to sleep in his chair again. Its going to be hot, sunny, mid 90's again..I really can't take much more of this heat !

Have a nice morning all

Busy work week. Texts to come in even on days off. Had plans today so couldn’t do it. Exhausted. People in the hospital are quite sick often with multiple problems unless they come in for a quick procedure, then they’re in and out. More Covid around than before.

I like the idea of crock pot cooking and even bought a couple of recipe books, but I forget about it. We usually grill and really like that cooking surface grill we bought last year. It really cuts down on the mess in the kitchen and we can do so much with it. I do use the crock pot for parties we usually do kielbasa, beans and onions in it that get gobbled up, but we haven’t had a lot of parties recently:rotfl2:just the one where we did the Italian feast several weeks back. We also have a brand new air fryer that Amazon told us to keep when they delivered it in error last Christmas but we really have no interest in it. For 40 years we’ve cooked a certain way and I don’t see us changing!

Have to start getting ready to go out even though I’d love to veg out for a little longer with another coffee. Glad everyone’s mostly doing ok, and hugs for those who need them! 🐥

Good Morning and I hope everyone is having a better morning than I am.

I need to vent just a bit if you don't mind - sort of directly related to what this thread was about. My husband is a diabetic and has health issues. Because of the diabetes he needed reconstructive surgery and he now needs custom fitted shoes. I couldn't get an appointment last year because they said he wasn't due, then it was COVID or his insurance changing. I let it go for a few months and finally got him an appointment on June 2nd. The end of July I called to see if the shoes were in yet. They hadn't been ordered yet due to a paperwork "glitch:" They needed my PCP to fill out paperwork. Why I have no idea as he never handled this and he was dead so he wouldn't be filling out any paperwork. My husband called and it wasn't the PCP this time it was the doctor that handles the diabetes. Called the dr. office and spoke to the woman there who was as flustered as I was. She sent the forms back multiple times but sent it again. My husband called and this time miraculously the paperwork was right and the shoes would be in within 2 weeks. It has been almost a month and they still aren't in. Called to ask to speak to a supervisor and got the same runaround. And the supervisor who will call me back is the same idiot I have been dealing with. I want to find a new place to order the shoes from but unfortunately this place is the biggest company in my area and possibly the only place to get them as they need to make molds of his feet for the shoes. The foot doctor is not going to be happy when he hears this next week. My problem is they are blaming their ineptitude on a pandemic. Take responsibility and own up to the fact that you dropped the ball!!!

Sorry but i really needed to vent. On the positive side my foot is getting a little better. I am off to look at new living room furniture today. Hopefully something that is cat proof. I don't declaw my cats but they have shredded the sides of the couches. Since we are getting new floors and carpeting on the steps and in the hallway I want new furniture. Can't redo the downstairs and have shredded couches. LOL

Hope you all have a good day and stay cool. We are in the midst of another scorcher today although we may get a break by the weekend.

Good Morning :)

Mail finally came around 7:30pm! I did get my stamps :)

I'm glad you have a restful day, PollyannaMom :) I also went to bed on time but ended up waking up early, feeling sort of restless. I ended up reading for a while.

:hug:Lynn, absolutely this has to stop or you will wear yourself even more out, dear friend. Mr. L will just do likewise for himself as well whether he realizes it or not. Big prayers for you both and a reminder we are here and care, too! Love, Jiminy's advice, btw!

What a awful ordeal, Taz Dev. Especially since it is over something (custom shoes) that by now are probably a routine thing for your DH. Prayers at last this gets resolved and of course, that you start feeling better all-around, too! :grouphug:

Only just after 8 yet because I've been up for a while, already feels later...hugs to all and I shall check in later 🐣

Vent all you need to taz--that is one of the purposes of this thread! I remember your issue with those shoes and the appts before, I think. You are right..these places need to take responsibility for their actions, and their mistakes. Maybe the foot Dr can suggest another place for you to get them, that would get it right the first time!

We are in another scorcher too--and I am so over this hot summer weather that I can't take it much more. Can't even breath if you walk outside today :(

Good luck finding living room furniture..we have cats who shred furniture too..if I can suggest something..we got these clear plastic protector sheets that you can cut to size and put on the spots that they tend to claw on. I got them on amazon--here is the one we got..but they have lots of choices. They are very sticky, and for the most part stay put, but they also give you these little screw in push pin things if needed---

if that link doesn't work..here is the product---

Amazon's

We got our new furniture in Feb/March,,and so far noone has scratches anywhere we have these. I put them on the sides, backs, and corners of the furniture where needed.

It is so frustrating when you have to follow up over and over and over on medical things! I'm sorry this hasn't been handled. Is there a way to contact the supervisor's boss? There's always someone higher up on the food chain. Hope you get this fixed.

For the cats: we got double sided sticky tape and taped the sides of the couch when we got our new furniture. One of the cats would not stop clawing, and shredded the fronts of the arms. We even tried putting aluminum foil loosely over the arms, down the front, so it would make noise when he hit it; but he would just dig until he could get under the foil and attack the couch. GRRR He has moved on to a home where he is the only animal in the house, and he has stopped destroying furniture...he just didn't get along with the girls. The cats rarely try to claw on it anymore; usually just when they get up and stretch, and they stop when someone says stop. They have two cat towers with sissal rope and carpet for them to claw on, along with 3 or 4 cardboard things to claw on.

It's muggy and hot today; expecting more thunderstorms. Watching the gulf, with the new storm there. Got Five Guys for DH and DS for lunch, because they wanted burgers and I didn't thaw any ground beef. I had leftover pasta salad (which is always better later). Tonight we are just having salads. took out the trash, need to mop this afternoon and vacuum once DH is done working (so I don't disturb his calls).

PT lady was here..she did the reevaluation today. Said he will have OT once a week for the next 2 weeks..and PT 2x a week for the next 2 weeks, and then if there's anything else they need to work on or he needs to learn, that they will reevaluate again and see if it's warranted..I have a feeling they will say it won't be. He's really progressing..and this lady hasn't seen him since week 1,,and she was pretty amazed. She said she made a note for both OT and PT (Tuesday) to work on the bed issue , but we may try it ourselves tonite and see how it goes. She suggested maybe after he is sitting on the bed..to put the step thing we bought under his feet until he feels steady enough to swing his legs up onto the bed..which is a good idea.

Its 90 degrees out,,and now they say we will have severe storms around 6-7-8 tonite..all that will do is make it even muggies :(

Stepdaughter just stopped and picked up the paper scrip for Mr L's heart medication..for some reason when the cardiologist office e sent the other 5, that one never went through so it had to be dropped off. I did all his others so they will be ready for pick up tomorrow. She will take me to the grocery store while we are out, so I can get what we need. He will be okay alone for about an hour..and it won't take us that long.

Glad I did the laundry yesterday, glad I did the vacuuming yesterday, today I don't feel like doing a darn thing,,lol!

Have a nice afternoon everyone

When you have the time,,could you explain what Mississippi Roast is please? Thanks!

3 lb chuck roast
1 packet Au Jus mix
8 pepperoncini peppers (I leave these out)
1 packet Ranch dressing mix
2 Tbsp. olive oil / salt & pepper (only needed if you brown meat before placing in crockpot)
1 stick unsalted butter
Place roast in bottom of crockpot. Sprinkle ranch & au jus mixes on top of roast. Add the butter & pepper. Cook on low for 8 hrs. I usually throw a couple of cans of green beans in with mine.

So we were supposed to go to Disney for a week in September but my son decided he would rather get his own apartment so the money him and his girlfriend had saved went to the apartment and furnishings. My other son won't go if it is just the two of us so I cancelled the trip. Messing around today with various websites and I can get us two day Disney tickets, plane tickets, rental car, and hotel and they would have to pay $355 each (I'm picking up tab for hotel). This doesn't include food which each person is responsible for. DS responded that he wants to get a month's cushion for his rent so he probably won't go. I know he's being responsible, he tried moving out one other time and that lasted 6 months before he ran out of money. It's just killing me to pass this price up. I'll ask around at work this weekend, maybe someone will want to go with me.

Oh well, back to watching the clock at work, 1 more hour but it will feel like 3. Have a good rest of your day.

THANK YOU! I will be leaving the peppers out also, as we don't do peppers of any kind,,lol..it sounds so good though!

Been reading but not posting.

Tuesday we went to Lancaster. I got a pair of pants I had been looking for at Columbia Sports. They are zip off hiking pants. I have one pair and ordered one from them online that didn't fit. These were cheaper too. DH got the hiking shoes and necktie he was looking for. And we got lunch at CFA since ours is closed for two months. Then we went to DD's house to babysit and she fixed dinner for all of us. DGD was going to PJ story time at their local library with her mom and wanted me to come too, so I did.

Wednesday DH and I went to the ocean for the day. It was a prefect beach day and I even went into the water twice. Had Wawa subs for lunch and I had chicken ready to put on the Foreman grill when we got home and had that with fresh corn on the cob.

Today I went for my mammogram and DH went for blood work, both routine. He went to the local hospital and I went 45 minutes away to Bel Air. DD noticed on "find my friend" that her father was at the hospital and I was in Bel Air. She texted to find out what we were doing. LOL Checking up on us.

Tonight we are going to Longwood Gardens again. The illuminated fountain show is to Disney Music. Here is the play list.
  • When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio
  • Try Everything from Zootopia
  • How Far I’ll Go from Moana
  • Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid
  • When We’re Human from The Princess and the Frog
  • A Whole New World from Aladdin
  • Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious/Step in Time/Let’s Go Fly a Kite from Mary Poppins
  • Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast
  • Circle of Life from The Lion King
  • Let It Go from Frozen
  • Beauty and the Beast (Finale)
DD and DGD and one of DD's friends and her son who is friends with DGD are meeting us there. We are getting there early to lay out blankets and save our spots. DGD is going to LOVE this.

I'm sure she'll want me to do a shot,
I read this and wondered tequila or rum.

to get a few things at Boscov's,
I like Boscov's. Rarely go but when I do I usually find something. That's where I got my dress for the upcoming rehearsal dinner.

I use the Crockpot for a couple of soups and when I want to cook chicken to shred. Occasionally I even make beef stew in it. (I rarely eat beef.)

I just dump in ingredients and hope for the best.
This made me think of DS. He would tell me he had put dinner in the Crockpot before going to work then wonder all day what his food was doing.

Anyone else out there got some fun things planned?
We are going to Maine for 10 days in September: started with a visit to friends I met here on the DIS, then my niece's wedding weekend, then 3 days in Bar Harbor and Acadia, finally 2 days in Boston for some history. Then in October a week at a condo in Sanibel, FL.

are better off with the tools to make things better but people aren't using them....
I read something about that also. It was a post about the first time around we had no way to fight the virus, now we do but people aren't using it. Like having a house fire but not using the hose you have to put it out. It makes me so angry how people can't work together for the betterment of everyone.

My problem is they are blaming their ineptitude on a pandemic.
I agree. So many people are now using the pandemic as an excuse for everything.

It's so hard when you are off schedule. I hope you get rid of your cold soon and everything goes back to normal....as much as it can. Take care!

Good morning everyone! 70 and foggy out now,,going to 83. We got some thunder from a storm last nite, but not a drop of rain, that was just weird!

@Breezy_Carol--glad you enjoyed the fountains and trail. Sounds really neat!

Stepdaughter is taking me down to CVS to pick up scripts this morning and a stop at the grocery store for a few things. Don't want to leave Mr L alone long enough to go all the way out to Walmart and spend 1 1/2 hours shopping.

Nurse will be making his last visit today. I never really saw the need for that anyhow, since the leg wound was already just about gone when he got out of rehab and OT was the one working on his arm. He can move his arm a little more freely now, just gets stiff sometimes.

Off to make my grocery list..have a nice day all!

Another exciting day...not really. DS just sent me a picture of the poor rabbit that lives next door with our crackhead neighbors. It's outside in a cage, hopefully they aren't planning on keeping it outside all day in this heat. Couple of months ago my other DS went over to the guy and told him to get the rabbit out of the sun and heat. I've been trying to find a new home for it. The crackheads said my DS could have it for $20, I'll pay it if I can find it a home.

Nothing much else going on today or the weekend. I have to work all weekend at my other job so no time off to get things done at home :sad1::laundy:. Nothing spectacular for dinner tonight, going with the trusty pasta and meat sauce with garlic bread. Last night I had such terrible stomach pains, there was no way I could stand long enough to make dinner so we ordered pizza, not what I wanted to do.

Everyone have a good day and stay out of the heat if possible!

Hello and happy Friday to all.
footballmouse - it's always hard to see animals being mistreated. Much luck in your effort to find the rabbit a new and safer/more loving home. Hope you are feeling better and your weekend work isn't too stressful.

lynxstch-glad to hear things with Mr. L. are moving in a positive and forward direction. Hope you are able to get what you need quickly so you can get home before he can cause any mischief.

Bianca and Bernard - Prayers you can get the shoes issue figured out. It's so hard to feel like you are spinning your wheels all the time.

Breezy_Carol-The water/light show sounds like a really good time, with extra bonus that it was set to Disney music.

I'm going to give the crock-pot another whirl tomorrow. Another chicken recipe. I know most people think you can't mess up when using a crock-pot...most people have not met me. Most of the things I try in the crock-pot seem to come out "mushy" or all taste the same. My goal is to find one or two recipes from a few different categories (i.e. beef, chicken, pork, etc.) and call it good. I sometimes blame the quality of the meat when I do a roast and it doesn't turn out... I mean it can't be all me all the time...right? :rotfl2: We have a quarter of beef coming in Oct. so I'm hoping to have better luck with those roasts.

For the record my air fryer is a countertop oven with an airfare option. I'm in high hopes that once I actually take it out of the box and get it set up we can use it for quick things and not have to heat the whole kitchen with the regular oven.

So glad it is the end of the first week of school. I hate that I wish time away when school in is session, I know we should enjoy each day and each season, I just struggle to find the joy sometimes when everyone is so grouchy and tired from all the running and homework. Our schools first football game of the season is tonight, so that should be a fun event.

Hope everyone has a good day and gets to have some sort of fun/relaxation over the weekend. Even you footballmouse, hope even with your working you can find few moments to yourself.
