Ahhh..thankfully it just came on, and I was able to figure out the new thermostat. Once I reset the date and time, the system put itself back on and I have cool air coming in. It is dumping down rain outside..those poor power company guys had to replace the transformer in that storm! Now I can go to bed and sleep comfy, as soon as I reset all the clocks , get the fish tank filter running again, and make sure the tv and tivo's are working right..
Night all,,catch you on the flip side!

Wow , that is scary. That patient musn't have been very sick in order to be able to pick up the nightstand and throw it?I hope noone was in the line of the table! I always look at the board at the nurses station to see how many nurses are on and how many rooms they have,,but that's a good suggestion to ask for staffing numbers. I am just frustrated that he had no PT for 2 days. They were just getting him started walking again..and now 2 days flat on his back in bed has undone all the good they had started to do. Hopefully tomorrow we will get some answers!
Extremely sick. People can be surprisingly strong when they want to be.

Good muggy, sticky, wet morning all. It dumped down rain for a long time last nite, won't have to water for at least a day. Power went on and off a few times, finally stayed on after 2. Didn't get much sleep,,it was too hot when power was off to even try laying down. Finally fell sound asleep around 2:30, only to wake at 4. Too much going on in my mind. I pray to God that they are going to assess him and see that the inpatient rehab on the sixth floor will be the best place for him to be for a week or 2. They don't let you lay around up there. Up by 6:30 or so,,dress every day..PT 2x a day, meals at the same time every day (it varies a lot on the regular hospital floors), and that's about all I can remember from 5 years ago. Everything was pretty much a blur back then!

Calling for 90 degrees today, with good chance of rain/storms this afternoon.

Going to lay down on the couch for an hour or so and see if I can shut my brain off enough to sleep for a little bit. Summer has to take her friend in for her c section this morning, but she wasn't sure if she had to be there for 8 or for 9:30. She will let me know what time she is picking me up in a bit.

Have a nice morning,,thanks for all the continued prayers and good thoughts.

@flyingdumbo127..keeping your Dad in my prayers and good thoughts for today!

Contined thoughts and prayers for your husband @lynxstch.
DD#1 lost power for 44 hours the last few days; got it back about 10 hours ago. Lost all her food in the fridge/freezers. Told her she needs a generator.

Happy (late) anniversary @tazdev3225! Forty years is a big thing!

Absolutely nothing going on here. DH is working. DS is probably still sleeping. I'm procrastinating, don't want to walk today, but I should. I didnt' walk at all last week; my body was too sore from going to WDW!

That sucks! I agree with you about a generator.

@lynxstch I hope your DH is evaluated for the rehab floor today. It sounds like just what he needs before heading home. Power outages are so annoying for many reasons. Glad you have your power back.

Another day waiting to find out if I can work today. More positive news last night as they are getting more things up and running so I hope the morning update today says, go online and work. I am so far behind! I am still tired from the kiddies sleepover. I never sleep well as I keep listening for the kiddies.

It is pouring rain here today. It has been such a rainy summer this year. I have not been able to walk outside as much as I would like. I remember last summer being out almost every day. Walk aerobics is nice but it is not as good as outside walking.

Happy Monday.

Good afternoon everyone.

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes. We had a good day and went out to dinner to my DH's favorite restaurant. The good thing is that they give enough food that I have dinner for tonight.

I just received some really sad news. My family doctor was found dead of a heart attack in his office this morning. The staff found him when they went to get him for his first patient. My family has been going to him since he started practicing medicine, over 30 years. He was such a great doctor and very thorough. We always joked he would send you to a dozen specialists before he would trim a hang nail. When Jim had his strokes he saw me in his office before he even opened officially to walk me through everything I needed to ask about and answered phone calls the whole time without putting me on hold. Once he opened his office on a sunday afternoon without charging me because I had been bit by a couple spiders and had a bad allergic reaction. I don't even know how to find a new doctor. I am just in total shock right now.

Hope everyone has a good day and sorry I meant to respond to posts but I can't think straight at the moment.

@lynxstch, continued prayers to you and DH.

@tazdev3225, Congratulations to you and your DH! I enjoyed seeing your photos and reading about your wedding memories. (BTW, I didn't wear a veil either. Just a pretty barrette on one side.) And I'm so very sorry to hear about your doctor. What a shock for everyone.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning with vertigo again. So I'm on the sofa for the day. This time I'm trying to move my head around a lot, in case it is crystals in the ear canal, but now I'm hearing that it might be due to hormonal changes at "that" time of life. Or I wonder if it could be the incessant rain we're having...I am sensitive to the barometer, and when I stand up it feels like something is pressing down on my head. Ugh.

We had fun on the fire station tour on Saturday morning with Josh's tee ball team. His coach is a firefighter, so we got to see everything - except where the fire pole starts on the second floor; he didn't want any kids sneaking off to go down it ;) It was supposed to be 1/2 an hour but we took a full hour. It was really nice of him to do that for the kids; I hope we see him again soon - as a coach, not a firefighter, that is ;)

We went to my MIL's afterward and Josh was excited to see that she found a digital scale that still works. He finally hit 40 lbs! So we converted his 5-point harness car seat to a high-back booster that uses the shoulder belt and he's thrilled. I got on the scale as well and to my surprise, I've lost 10 lbs. since May. Hope that scale is accurate...

Yesterday Josh read enough to get another 50 points on his summer reading chart, so he can get the 2nd prize now. Plus we did even more and he's got another 40 points on top of that. If we can get another 10 points before we're at the library on Wednesday or Thursday, he can get both the 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Not a fan of snakes either myself. We have a reptile zoo here; before it opened, the owner and/or handlers went to Josh's preschool and had a program at the library (pre-COVID) with some of the snakes. I wasn't at the preschool but obviously I wen to the one at the library. All of the large snakes they have are discarded pets, so they're relatively tame, but I could barely bring myself to touch one of them with one finger when invited (of course, Josh jumped right in and petted him like he was a cat). I did feel badly when they posted recently that their albino python, Sunny, passed away recently. They guy loves what he does, so I'm sure he felt like we do when we lose a pet.

Need to get up now...3 more hours and I can take another Dramamine (looking forward to it)...

@tazdev3225- so sorry about the loss of your Dr and friend
@apirateslifeforme. Feel better soon

Another day of issues with nurses and cnas. Noone making rounds every hour, taking 30 min to answer call button, etc. Had to ask for charge nurse and patient advocate again, I have had enough. Someone called PT and they said they would be up today, but not when, and still no consult/assessment about rehab. I think I have ticked off all nurses today, and I don't care, cause they have all ticked me off too. More when I get home

Good afternoon.

@tazdev3225, How awful about your doctor. And sad for his staff. What a way to start the day.

Liz, sorry about the vertigo but seems like you've dealt with it before and know the drill. And hurray for Josh progressing out of the car seat to a booster. We are stopping at Walmart today to get a 2 in 1 booster that has the 5 point harness and converts to using the shoulder belt. Tessa is growing out of the backward/forward facing seat I have (and hate) so will get this for her and pass the other down to Carter for when I have both kids.

Dance lesson in a few minutes so have to run.

I am home..and so disgusted that I am literally sick to my stomach. The 'patient experience' lady stopped in this morning..and we told her all the good, and all the bad. She was totally shocked at some of what has gone on Sat and today,- nurses and CNA's not making hourly rounds. Noone came in hubby's room from 10:15 until almost 1, when I had to go and find someone to help him get straightened out so he could eat lunch, which was cold by that time, and I had to have it resent up. We pressed the call button at 12:25. No answer, pressed again at 12:40, no answer, I finally went to the desk and said get someone NOW. Then I asked for his nurse to come in to find out if PT was coming up today. They are impeding his recovery by doing this. The Patient experience lady happened to walk down the hall again and waved at me,,hubby was asleep..I motioned for her to wait a minute. I went out and told her it was happening again. She was not happy when I told her that noone checked on him for almost 3 hours..that I couldn't get the nurse to come and answer a question for over an hour. She went to the desk and came right back and said,,someone will come and give you information soon. Nurse finally stuck her head in the door about 25 min later, and said she had called PT and they would be up today but not when. She didn't know if they would be doing the rehab assessment or someone else.

When I went to leave..patient experience lady (sort of a patient advocate I guess) , had every nurse and every CNA on that floor at the desk..and some of them did not look too happy. I am sorry, but I am not there to please them. Every patient on that high level care unit, deserves the same attention as all the others..and waiting 25 min for a bedpan, or 2 hours for assistance getting comfortable is not what is going on. This lady had 2 pages of notes, with names, dates, times, etc. We recognized the ones who have been doing their job, and told her about the ones that weren't. The stupid nurse this morning gave hubby his meds,,then says oh I forgot..here's your insulin. I said WHAT? He does not take insulin,,I think you better check again..she says 'oh yeah..thats someone else's'????? What the heck? When UPMC took over,,this hospital was supposed to get better,,its gone downhill badly! Oh, and I found his CNA when I left,,and said I am leaving, but you aren't done with us for the day. His daughter will be up before dinner..and she better find out that PT has been up, or that they will be up, and that if hubby has pushed the call light, that he isn't made to wait 20 min for a bedpan, and then I just walked away. (his daughter won't put up with this stuff anymore than I will, but we have a right to be complaining about these things!)

His daughter was there with a friend this morning who was having a c section. She had the baby (named Riot? LOL!), and was going to be breastfeeding..they bring the baby to her to feed,,and she finds out they have already given him formula in a bottle..and all of this was on her chart, and they were all told about it. I am dumbfounded at how far down hill this place has gone in such a short time!

Its 93 and hotter than heck outside..I am going to feed the cats and lay down for awhile and see if I feel any better.
